We are still offering telemedicine appointments to help you keep your pet healthy without having to leave home! You can access these services by calling and arranging a phone appointment, or by setting up a video appointment using Zoom, a free service that allows us to communicate with you via videoconference, so we can see your pet and do an accurate assessment.
We WILL be able to prescribe and treat your pet after such visits! If you opt for a phone appointment, you must email us IN ADVANCE any photos, videos, etc that we may need to make our assessment.

Dr. Jane T. Owel received her DVM from Michigan State University in 1988 and has been at MVAH ever since. After completing the IVAS Chinese Herbal Medicine for animals course, she has incorporated Traditional Chinese herbal medicine, as well as a very holistic viewpoint, into her general practice. She is also a second degree Reiki practitioner and has an interest in homeopathy.
We're a full service animal hospital, offering preventive care, blood work and other laboratory screening, x-rays, and many soft tissue surgeries. Preventive care is an important focus, allowing us to identify disease before it becomes severe. We recommend annual physical exams for all patients, and twice yearly exams for elderly patients.
At Mount Vernon Animal Hospital, the road to embracing Integrative Veterinary Medicine has been an evolution. With over 50 years of practice of Veterinary Medicine between them, Dr. Owel and Dr. Miller have recognized some basic truths: Western Medicine is very good at some things, but not so great with others.

I am very impressed by this office. We actually live pretty far away- 25 to 30 minutes- but I continue to make the hike down to this office because I am so impressed by the veterinarians. We first found them because we couldn't get our dog in to be seen during the holiday season (literally every vet closer to us was full and we needed to see someone for a post op visit.) They fit us in and I was truly thankful.
At my dog's first wellness visit, I was just so impressed by their doctors. I find their prices to be VERY reasonable for this area. They don't recommend unnecessary work to increase your bill. They explain their philosophies for treatment and they are kind. So I would recommend this office highly.

While I now live in Northern NY, Dr. Owel, was our doctor for 14 years, taking care of my10 kitties and one dog. She is amazing! Her knowledge and skills are exceptional. Her kindness and compassion for our beloved pets always conveyed to the "parents" as well. I will always remember her and the hospital staff for their love of animals, professionalism and willingness to get it done. Thank you, Dr. Jane!

Was in search for a vet. No longer liked the philosophy and lack of care our previous one in Woodbridge provided. I was exploring acupuncture to help my senior dog who has occasional knuckling due to early arthritis. Seeking a vet that you cannot see/meet in person during COVID is a daunting task. So glad we went. Pleasantly surprised that cold laser therapy, that is half the price of acupuncture mind you, was what was recommended as the more ideal approach.
My pup had the pleasure to be seen by Dr M. Miller. She took so much time on the phone with me; asked what seemed like 50 questions to help her form the best picture and provide us with recommendations. I never felt pressured nor did it feel like I had a sales person on the other line. We will be back for sure. Check them out. I will definitely recommend. Some details on pricing from our visit: Their exam fee: $75 1 Cold Laser Therapy session: $41

This location was home to some very friendly, animal-loving employees! They took great care of myself and my dog. The building was nice and clean and there was space on both sides of the desk for animals who are skittish like my dog to get away from other hospital visitors. The veterinarian on hand that day was very efficient and informative. Being a new dog owner, she educated me on many different things I never really considered but I am now aware of. I hope I only have to visit this place sparingly, but I know if I do have a pet emergency, my dog will be in great, caring hands.
