I love the work they do there. The dogs are taken care of and loved. I volunteer and I get as much out of walking them as they do.

I want to thank Carmen and the team. We were looking for a rescue greyhound and found Hemopet. After filling out the adoption form, Carmen reached out and invited us to come visit and meet their Greys. We went down, and the first girl we met, we fell in love. Bianca came home a week later and is loving being a beautiful girl with a home. Our pack has taken to her and it's been amazing.

I highly recommend if you're looking to save a Greyhound and give them a forever home full of love, reach out to the amazing people at Hemopet. They have a bunch of lovely pups that need to find that home that will give them the love that they deserve.

We adopted our greyhound here back in 2018. What a sweet, loving dog! Hemopet did a great job caring for and it shows. Her name was Cupcake, if anyone remembers her.

This place is a lab where over 200 greyhounds are held captive for years and farmed for their blood every 10 days. The dogs are in terrible condition physically and especially mentally. This place is a warehouse full of caged greyhounds

Disgusting organisation that uses ex racing dogs as blood donors rather than allowing them to be rehomed. They stopped doing this with greyhounds in Europe years ago as it was unethical. All blood donation is done on an ethical, volunteer basis in Ireland.

Easy to get to location with ample parking. Once you get called to go inside, it was clean and staff was friendly. Doc knew what they were talking about. Holistic happiness all around after they solved a skin issue for our aunt who referred us here. Very happy with service and charges were clearly explained before doing bloodwork and etc.

Hemopet is the best! Excellent veterinary service and the source of much of the canine blood used in canine surgeries throughout the West. Kudos to Dr. Dodd!

TL;DR: Gave incorrect information. Made my dog's condition much worse. My experience is pretty similar to Joan T. from SF. I first had email consultations with Dr. Dodds after my regular vet said that my dog's UPC was too high (1.9 UPC, the vet said it should be.5 or below.) My dog is on a raw food diet, and I'd heard that Dr. Dodds is supposed to be an expert on raw food.

She told me the values for raw food are different than kibble, and my dog's numbers were totally fine. She advised me that even though 1.9 was totally fine for a dog on a raw food diet (IT ISN'T) I should take her off of her flea medication and give her a product called FLEA TREATS instead. After following her advice for 3 months, my dog's UPC shot up from 1.9 to 2.8.

She once again said she wasn't concerned with this 2.8 number. She said her BUN was also elevated due to the raw diet, which meant her creatinine was normal (I have/had no idea what all this meant. I just needed to know what to do for my dog. She said do nothing, her numbers were fine.) But luckily, I consulted with a dog nutritionist. He looked at the ingredients & said to take her off of FLEA TREATS immediately as they contained brewer's yeast which is terrible for dogs with kidney issues.

I followed his advice, and within 2 months her UPC was back down from 2.8 to 2.0, nearly where we started at 1.9. Following the nutritionist's advice, I got her numbers down to 1.3/1.4. A month later, I went into Hemopet for a separate issue. For this consult, Dr. Kanbe was also present with Dr. Dodds. When they looked at my dog's records- the exact same records that Dr. Dodds had already seen from our email consults- she acted like she'd never seen them before & both she and Dr. Kanbe were adamant that these numbers were very bad.

I said I was confused, how could these numbers suddenly be bad, they're better now than they were before? Dr. Kanbe & Dr. Dodds never acknowledged (even though I still have the emails) that Dr. Dodds repeatedly insisted there was no problem. I reiterated that my regular vet had been sounding the alarm for nearly a year, and I had been telling him not to worry b/c Dr. Dodds (the supposed expert) said everything was fine! Well, it wasn't.

My dog is on medication now, medication that should have been started a year earlier. Thankfully, I realized it before my dog went into complete kidney failure from following Dr. Dodds' advice like the other review here from Joan T.

So thankful to have Hemopet to purchase our FFP from. They are fast to respond to emails when you have an emergency quick service and I can't imagine not having access to their Plasma for our litters.

Hemopet (Dr. Leumer and Dr. Dodds), saved our 4 pound dog's life. Our toy poodle was three years old, never healthy and emaciated. We struggled with EVERY possible food combination/Vet/Diet possible and she was just wasting away. Three days after diagnostics and appropriate medications, our little girl started eating and hasn't stopped since (one year ago). Dr. Leumer is excellent, easy to talk with, and available. We couldn't be happier or more appreciative of their efforts and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs a smart, caring, conscientious Veterinary service.

Met Dr Dobbs and Dr Kanbe. They met me with my dog under the tents outside and discussed my concerns about my dog. We decided to run tests. Waiting for results. Both very pleasant and knowledgeable.

Hemopet is the BEST! Everyone there is so kind and caring for the Greyhounds. They have an amazing Greyhound Rescue Center. Very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I adopted my beautiful Joffrey the Greyhound about 3 years ago and he has been the greatest gift of all. Best dog and bread ever! So loving, so silly and sooo mellow. Biggest couch potato. I LOVE HIM. Thank you!

This is a wonderful place. Dr. Kanbe spent an hour reviewing the details of my pets situation and is very patient. My dog had a reaction to Bravecto flea med, including vomiting and seizure, and the doctor prescribed vitamins and a customized diet to help cleanse her liver of this toxic drug. This is not just holistic care but also western medicine as needed, so you can be assured of a comprehensive analysis. I'm beyond relieved to have finally found a place that genuinely cares about animals and is not just out to make a buck.

Hemopet is excellent for my Cashman. They always take good care of him. They provide us with reasonably priced services most places don't offer. Today we're here for a titer test so he is not over vaccinated. He also was allergy tested here. They have been a life saver. Thanks Hemopet!

Came here to adopt a rescue greyhound and noticed things were dirty and the dogs were in small cages. I asked why the dogs seemed so depressed and lethargic and wanted to know about the medical history of these dogs as that's a normal part of the adoption process. But instead of them being honest and forthcoming I was told to leave and that they don't have to answer my questions. That's clearly a red flag.

The staff was rude for no reason as was the veterinarian I saw. I am a customer who traveled to California for this so I could give a loving home to a dog only to be lied to and turned away. I don't recommend Hemopet and I think this place should be shut down.

Yelp keeps removing my reviews. I am a REAL customer. I am about to start posting all the bills I paid to prove it. Yelp can call me. Dr. Dodds, blood guru of the planet, MISSED the warning signs on my animal's blood tests. My animal just died of kidney disease, less than 3 months after having been told by Jean Dodds that her bloodwork and other lab tests were "normal".

At the ER over Thanksgiving, they said (looking at the historical Hemopet blood tests), "your animal has had kidney problems for a long time". I said "no it hasn't, I just had bloodwork done at Hemopet". They showed me the numbers on the Hemopet reports and they were (I learned) right. Now I have a dead beloved pet to prove that Hemopet is a disaster. Jean Dodds is not even licensed as a vet in California, and I thought I could trust her bloodwork. But apparently not. If you think this is not a real review, contact me and I will start posting the bloodwork tests, the invoices, and the emails from Jean Dodds.

While we dearly miss Dr. Lassin, Dr. Leumer is so very kind and gentle. I wish my human doctor was this caring. Great with delayed vaccinations, solid information, as well as very attentive technicians who do pre-check and take your pet to the back room. They brought our Blue Nosed Pittie back from 'the edge'. He was so sick and depressed from skin disorder which other vets could not tackle, including a long distance alternative vet, and Dr. Lassin and Dr. Leumer and (Dr. Dodd in the wings) got him back to former self. I'd definitely recommend their allergy tests, it worked by defining exactly what our family member could tolerate. They are exceedingly prompt in emailing! Wow. Never a long wait-they don't seem to overschedule. Top notch place and worth a long drive.

I would give 1 million stars if I could. I bring both my dog and my cats here. I love the entire staff. Especially the Tech. They truly love and care for all of the animals. They take last minute appointments, they ship me meds, they do it all. I live in Newport Beach and make the drive through traffic to bring my pets here. Their prices are the best in Southern California.

If your pet needs a vet, please trust me and go see the staff at Hemopet. They also give a discount if you rescued your pet. Thank you to The entire staff at Hemopet for loving my German Shepard and my Kittle Angel Fynn. Look at pics for how happy these pets are at their office.

Dr John Cody is amazing! What a great bedside manner. Really in good communication- you can tell he loves what he does. We had a sick puppy and thousands and other clinics he consulted (for free!) and was so reassuring! When we did go see him their prices were actually fair! Other clinics seem to charge more the. I pay for my own doctor without insurance. I highly recommend the clinic!

I took my dog here to have his thyroid checked. One visit and I was hooked. Dr. Lassen and Dr. Dodd are amazing. They truly truly care about your dog. They are easy to talk to, make you feel so relaxed, you leave their office knowing these are people who take their work to the next level. The time and interest they spend with you and your dog is such a comfort.

They e-mail their findings to you along with their plans for your dog, no need to take notes here. I highly recommend these doctors and their services to anyone who needs a veterinarian. The work they do with greyhounds is another amazing aspect of the services there. If they were just a little closer I would love to volunteer there. Maybe one day the drive won't matter and I will. Right now my goal to is to help Poquito be a peaceful happy dog.

Such an amazing and wonderful non profit to help save rescue greyhounds while they also provide life saving blood to other animals in need. I volunteer here and the facility is nice and there are dogs everywhere! The dogs are truly so sweet and funny. If my two Pomeranians wouldn't be so jealous, I would bring one home!

Dr. Dodds, Dr. Lassin and Karen are terrific! They're knowledgable, friendly, accessible, kind, I could go on and on! We drive a long way for our dogs yearly visit, however, it's well worth the effort. Thank you for always being there and sharing your wisdom with us.
