Stone House Animal Hospital Initially, Stone House operated as a 24 hour veterinary hospital focused on providing your pet with the tailored care they deserve, no matter what time it was and without extra fees. As our hospital continued to establish itself in the Topeka, KS, area, their healthcare model shifted to a "walk-in" only practice. By focusing on convenience for patients and clients alike, our new model helped expand our client base drastically.

And as our hospital's client base grew, our in-house team also expanded to bring aboard the incredibly trained and highly-qualified Dr. Albright, Dr. Wilson, Dr. Walstrom, Dr. Eller, and, soon-to-be, Dr. Brodie!
Services
Your pet's health and well being is very important to us and we will take every step to give your pet the best possible care. Stone House Animal Hospital is a full-service animal hospital and will take both emergency cases as well as less urgent medical, surgical, and dental issues. Our team is experienced in all types of conditions and treatments. Beyond first-rate pet care, we make our clinic comfortable, kid-friendly, and a professional environment.
We know you have a lot of choices when choosing the best veterinary hospital in Topeka, KS, and we're happy that you've decided to join our family. Your kind words and feedback help us continue to provide over-the-top veterinary service to you and your pet. Unfortunately we had to euthanize our 14-year-old Chow mix.
Regular dental cleanings and regular brushings can help keep your pet's mouth health and avoid potentially deadly health issues. Just like for humans, it's the tartar under the gumline that causes kidney and heart damage. To remove this tartar anesthetic is necessary. Stone House does pre-anesthetic blood work so that the anesthesia can be tailored to each patient.
Our animal hospital is well-equipped to handle pet emergencies with the same care and compassion we provide all of our animal patients. The highly-trained veterinarians and staff at Stone House Animal Hospital are available to treat pets who are suffering from life-threatening trauma and disease. Stone House Animal Hospital is available for transfers from your primary care veterinarian as well as for walk-in urgent care needs and emergencies.

Filthy exam rooms rude staff would give zero stars if I could I put a bad review on Google and they attacked me in a very unprofessional way told lies about me. They take a dirty mop from room to room=cross contamination and could make your pet very sick

Had a health emergency with my pet cockatiel this morning and despite them not traditionally caring for avians they managed to get me in, do an exam, and refer me out to K-State's small animal hospital very quickly. All the employees were very kind and gentle with my already distressed pet, and very professional and kind with me as well. This is my first experience with this vet service but I was very happy with it. Thank you guys.

Been using Stonehouse extensively for many years. Above average pet care combined with an almost always open availability makes it a logical choice. Then the 24/7 staffing for hospitalized pets puts Stonehouse well above the rest. The friendly staff just sweetens the pot! Keep up the good work Stonehouse!

I took my cat Simon to stone house he was backed up they said the guesstimate would be 400 then 700 as I watched her stick the needle into his jaw and poke poke poke again and again not just with one needle but three poor Simon was already in pain then the lady said my guesstimate was shorter than she thought and said it would be 1400 and something I lost it unprofessional and down right dirty playing with emotions like they do for a profit I told her I can't afford that and neither could my mother as she calmly told me about some kind of credit card they hadn't done anything like x-rays they did blood work Sunday f#$king Sunday offered to put Simon down I couldn't do it and left with my poor Simon feeling the pain. No kind of payment plan.before the seen my cat he could move but afterwards he just in shock and hurts more.

Called ahead to confirm being able to bring pet in, was Told yes it was OK That someone would be available till 530 or 6. When I got there At 5:15 they turned me away. What kind of way is that to run any business. When pulling away noticed that they were turning yet another pet owner. Only reason for the star is to let others know of their lack of caring and bad business habits

Very nice, clean and friendly but charged $55 to bathe my french bulldog and an additional $17.99 to trim nails. Totally outrageous. Their excuse was, they don't normally bathe dogs. If they would have told me what the charges would of been I would of taken him to Pet Smart.

I am not a regular customer of this animal hospital but in June of 2018, my female black pug Buddha had been coughing all night the night before, and I needed to take her to the vet and figure out what was wrong with her. Stone House was one of the few if not the only animal hospital open on Sunday, so I called them and rushed her right over. When I arrived, they got her right in for an examination, and within minutes had the diagnosis of her problem.

She had collapsed trachea syndrome which is common in flat faced dog breeds because of their different respiratory system. I asked the doctor about my options while Buddha was sedated and given oxygen to relieve her labored breathing. After given my options I unfortunately made the decision to euthanize my poor Buddha to end her suffering. I had the option of an expensive surgery which was no guarantee to help Buddha, so I did the most humane thing in my opinion, and euthanized her.

The doctor and staff were awesome, and let me be with her throughout the whole process.

Yes, I cried like a child but knew this was the best course of action for Buddha. She was 14 years old when she passed and the staff made a paw print mold with her name and that days date on it for me to keep, plus they cremated her and put her ashes in an urn for me to keep.

I of course approved all of this and it was fully discussed prior to them doing it. Though I'm a customer at another animal hospital in town, I want to thank everyone at Stone House Animal Hospital for all they did and taking such great care of Buddha that day. I will forever be grateful for the care, kindness, and love you showed both of us.

The techs were very nice to my dog, but I am quite unhappy with their explanation for their vaccine policy. I have a dog who has been full vaccinated her entire time in my care, but since we just moved tot he area, we needed to renew her vaccines at a new vet. I picked storehouse due to good reviews from friends. However, they failed to tell me that because I did not bring her vaccine records with me to the appointment (no problem, just email them), I was going to have to pay an extra $60 dollars for vaccine boosters. Had I known this, I would have driven home and gotten her records before she received these nonsense 2 part vaccines that she didn't need.

But that was not made known to me at any point in the visit other than a small note identifying the type of vaccine she was getting on my receipt - maybe something they should mention to their clients.

I have several Labrador Retrievers who have all been show dogs with stud dog potential. Those who have been neutered for one reason or another still work with me to earn AKC titles as hunters, tracking dogs, or in rally and SW. I am particular about the care of my dogs. The vets at Stone House have always been awesome. Occasionally I could ask for friendlier faces at the front desk, but overall, I think Stone House serves my dogs very well.

I cannot thank these ladies enough for today! I was terrified of the worst and they saved my dogs life. I tried my normal vet and they told me had to wait 2 to 3 weeks for an appointment. My dog wouldn't have survived the day without Stone House Animal Hospital! Definitely will recommend this veterinarian. I'm also only using them for all my animals. Thanks again!

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Our regular vet actually had recommended another facility if my dog's condition deteriorated during after hours for some reason. With our luck, he of course got worse on Easter Sunday. My gut instinct told me to go with Stonehouse rather than the other recommended urgent care place. Let me tell you, I made the right decision. Stonehouse got us right in and the staff never rushed us, despite being an hour away from closing time. Dr. Ellen was fantastic.

She was thorough, patient, and gentle with my dog. She even got down on the floor to examine him. I was prepared to pay and arm and a leg, but never once did they try to push any unnecessary tests or treatments on us. We left with an answer and a treatment plan. The amount I paid for the care he did receive was absolutely reasonable. I can't thank everyone enough for helping us out and although I sure hope we don't need any further urgent care, it is comforting knowing that we have a trustworthy place to go if we need to.

My cat was hit by a car and the ladies that found her left on the road, brought her to Stone House. Never before had I used this hospital but after witnessing the love, care, and attention that they showed not only to my pet but every one they came into contact with, they deserve every star and more! Every staff member was as extremely helpful and answered every question they could, if they didn't have the answer they found the answer. Amazing people that I will always trust to give the best care

I love these folks. They have been there for our fur babies in the healthy moments and at the end of life for them. Each time we go, we are greeted like family. I felt comfortable when my fussy feline got to spend a few days there. I also appreciated the ability to go in after hours to visit my sick baby. Thank you for your kindness to me and to my babies.

Stone House has always been the place we take our dogs. The staff is amazing. They listen to our concerns and have always offered great care. The office staff have always been friendly and helpful. I would recommend them to anyone who loves their animal.

They were so incredibly accommodating for our yearly exam and shots yesterday for our two dogs. I am 8 months pregnant, my husband is deployed, and I live an hour away but they were able to set aside a room and really help make the process so much easier! They offered free sedation as well which really helped my very anxious rescue dogs. All in all we love the service, professionalism, and friendliness of all the staff and are so glad to have them as our vet!

Amazingly helpful, knowledgeable and caring staff! Cared for our aunt's dog and assisted way beyond the call of duty. Highly recommend the competency and care given by this animal hospital. Nicole was a standout! Thank you, all.

I had taken my dog in because he had a cut on his head & it was bleeding. When i got there we we're taken back & the vet barely looked at his wound & suggested we'd sedate him just to clean it. I payed 45 dollars just to basically be told there's nothing they could do except to sedate him & give him pills to "see how it goes". Going there was honestly the worst & most worthless service i has ever gotten for one of my fur babies, & I've been going there since he was a pup! Definitely wouldn't recommend anyone taking their animals there unless they just want to be hustled for their money.

I took a kitten I found on the highway here a few months back. I told the staff that I was hoping to take this kitty to another state with me (i do not live in Ks) or if the kitten was not healthy, find him a new home. They were kind but they obviously weren't in to doing anything for this kitten due to it being "kitten season" and kept looking at me as if it was odd I wanted to save this baby.

They billed me $147 for the visit, antibiotics and ear mite meds. I was unable to take him to with me so found him a wonderful home. Well, a couple weeks later, myself, my mother, and the 3 kids of the family I gave him too got ringworm. My Derm laughed at me (in a professional way ) bc it was obvious when she walked in the room that i had ringworm and knew what from.

The vets and Drs that the family went to when they had symptoms didn't understand why this kitten wasn't examined for mange or ring worm as it was allllllll over his body! He literally was covered in it. we were told it was obvious for those who work with animals. All of the negative being said, he is a healthy happy boy with his new family and thank goodness I didn't follow this hospitals lead.

Stonehouse is where I've taken my pup for almost 10 years now and it has been nothing but a positive experience. Every time we walk in, they know my name and my dog's name, and they take care of whatever our needs may be promptly! Everyone who works there is nice and courteous and I can tell they really take care of my dog while she is in their care.

I would recommend Stonehouse to anyone. If anything beyond normal care or tests is needed, they have always shown me a full "quote" of services and explained what is more preventative and what is truly needed. I have always felt comfortable with my dog in their care.

This is our local vet of choice. They are wonderful, knowledgeable and helpful. They saved my dachshund when he had stones, and took the best care of him until he was able to come home. Their costs are very reasonable when compared to other vet offices. I'm bummed Dr. Carder has retired, but the rest of the staff remaining is excellent as well. I'm pretty picky about where I take my fur babies, and Stone House is excellent.

I cannot believe the reviews I'm reading about this place - My husband and I have the utmost respect for everyone who works at Stone House! There was a time that we took our cat to them in the middle of the night because the 24 hour emergency clinic screwed us out of money and treatment; did not provide necessary care for him as he was suffering from saddleback thrombosis (they told us it was likely a broken bone but wouldn't do an x-ray).

It was obvious he was in pain after receiving a shot from the emergency clinic so we called around and found that Stone House was open; promptly rushed him over. The vet was able to give us answers, a real diagnosis, give a good pain remedy and referral to K-State. He was so kind, compassionate, and caring toward our cat that night that we switched our dogs over to this clinic afterward. Our dogs are always cared for in an emergency situation and treated well during their check-ups. These people are great!

We've been going here for a couple of years and have never been terribly impressed with the service of the veterinarians. I've never had an issue with the vet techs as other reviews have suggested. They have always been kind and very interested and engaging with our dog. The veterinarians themselves are the issue. Most of the veterinarians seem completely disinterested in the job and do little to engage with or check the animal during a visit.

On our most recent visit, we were treated so deplorably and with such attitude that we are NEVER going back. The veterinarian was so rude he practically acted as though we're committing animal abuse. When I told him that I care deeply about our dog and his health, he said "that's the only reason I'm sitting here talking with you. Otherwise I would've told you to look for another vet hospital." Well, thanks to his horrendous attitude towards us, we'll be doing just that!

BEWARE! I took my dog and cat in for simple things. They wound up doing tests without my knowledge on one of my pets. Then when I protested that I wouldn't pay for tests that I neither asked for nor was consulted about, they held my two animals ransom until I paid them AND then charged me board on top of this. I been a veterinarian assistant, have raised many small and large animals and have had close working relationships with veterinarians.

I know exactly what is required and needed when you take a pet into a veterinarian. BEWARE this place WILL charge you extra for things if they can get away with it. Be forewarned and knowledge-based when dealing with these crooks!

Exceptional high quality service. Boarding, too. I greatly appreciate the care my dogs have gotten here over the years. The staff have always been warm and friendly. I board here, too, because I want a doctor available. I would recommend to everyone.

Very bad overall experience at Stone House. My dog got very sick on a Sunday with a linear obstruction in her bowel, so I couldn't wait to take her to my regular vet, and Stone House was the closest 24 hour hospital. The dog survived, so that's the only reason I gave them two stars. First off, the total cost when I came to pick up my dog was a THOUSAND DOLLARS higher than the estimate they gave me, even though there were no complications during surgery and no unexpected problems after surgery.

They deliberately gave me an incorrect estimate so that I would agree to the surgery, then magically charged me for as much as I was approved for on CareCredit. Second, my dog's recovery was very slow and she seemed very unhealthy and lethargic, but when (lucky me) my dog had to have a similar surgery again several years later, she was back to her normal personality and energy level within two days.

This makes me believe that the care she received was not on the same level at Stone House. My third problem was the staff. All of the vet techs I encountered were uneducated, unhelpful, and definitely not professional in their appearance. The administrative staff was a rude nightmare, refusing to transfer my dog's records to my regular vet, disregarding several requests from both me and my vet's office, and they magically had no record of ever having given me an estimate at all. This animal hospital is generally trashy, rude, and unhelpful.
