Animal Ophthalmology Clinic - Robert J Munger

Cannot say enough good things about this place! Dr Munger is AMAZING! He restored my dogs eyesight after being told by my regular vet that there was nothing that could be done.

I went to this ophthalmology group on May 3, 2022. My vet referred me to Dr. Munger but he no longer works in this office since he is in the Grapevine office now. They made my appointment with Dr. Ratner. Little did I know but she wasn't even board-certified and was inexperienced. My dog is 12 years old and it seemed like he lost his vision rather quickly.

She did an exam on him and proceeded to tell me that he either had sards or a brain tumor and there was nothing they could do for him. She gave me no hope at all and she hadn't even done the sards test! They scheduled the test for the next week but I canceled it because this doctor gave me a very uneasy feeling and I do not want her touching my dog ever again. I'm going to another ophthalmology group in Dallas to have him tested because the doctor there has over 20 years experience.

Absolutely such a wonderful staff. Everyone genuinely care about your family member. Direct and clear communication, you can put your trust in them.

Dr. Jeff Studer, is really wonderful and caring. He crated a good plan for my Cockapoo's only remaining eye when he lens detached likely due to old age.

Wonderful place best service ever. All the staff helped us when needed. We had 5 young Australian Shepherd Puppies for their first checkup. You will enjoy time there with and of their Veteran Eye Specialists Dr.s. One took care of us but we meet 3 of their Dr's. Their Techs were super.

Dr. Ring and Dr. Nettune have both cared for our Cockers. Both gave exceptional care. Love the loving, caring, and understanding staff.

I live a few hours away so I really appreciate that they always work around my schedule when I make appointments to get my dog seen. I love that the staff seems to genuinely enjoy seeing my dog come in, they always compliment his smile and easygoing disposition. We've had nothing but good experiences with them, highly recommend!

After many vet visits and not being able to get a clear diagnosis from other veterinarians, we had a great experience here. I didn't feel like we were getting price gauged and the optomologist had great demeanor. Was a good experience and I would highly recommend!

Dr. Munger, Christy (vet tech), and the entire Staff in Grapevine are very caring and amazing! I had an emergency situation when I was first referred to them, and they worked me in to see my pet quickly. They are very responsive to issues and questions. The entire staff has always been extremely caring and sweet when my pets are in for checkups or surgeries. Thank you for doing what you do and being so supportive to your patients and to the fur baby parents!

Amazing doctors and staff! They care about the animals and go above and beyond to make them as comfortable as possible and educate you about your pet's condition.

Still have to take my girl in for surgery, but so far they have been extremely helpful and patient answering all of my questions. As well as working with me on getting everything ready as we are traveling from out of state

I have been a client of this practice since 2005. Absolutely love Dr. Munger and his invaluable expertise on veterinary Opthalmology. His associates are always top notch as well. Very friendly staff too!

The people here DO.NOT.CARE. A phone call would've been nice but they couldn't even do that to confirm. I was so disappointed by their lack of service and professionalism. I was excited to have my baby taken care of by this highly rated place but everything was a flop from beginning to end. I understand after a long and busy day that it's draining for the employees, but what happened was just mind blowing to me.

If you want to read the details, see below. After calling the office to notify them of our arrival, they said they don't have any techs available and will send one out whenever they are available. Sure, no problem. After waiting for an hour in the car with no updates, a tech came to tell me it's at least 30 more minutes with no concern and was apathetic regarding my dog's condition or my time. Told me it's my choice if I want to stay or leave. Asked if I wanted to hold onto my dog or send him up.

I said I'll hold onto him, asked if I can go get a drink and asked them to call me when they're ready. Tech said okay. Came back after 20ish minutes, no more cars in the lot besides one that's waiting on her pup. Called the office but was sent to voicemail because the office was closed. I called the after hours emergency line to see if I can get ahold of anyone (building doors are locked due to covid, the phone that dials the offices didn't work, or it was turned off because it's after hours).

All the techs that came out to drop off other dogs or to go home had no concern as we're just waiting there outside of the car. After 10 or 15 minutes the after hours lined called back to inform me that the entire office had already gone home. That the tech said she came down to look for me but didn't see my car. (remember I specifically asked them if I could go get a drink, and asked them to give me a call when they're ready in case I wasn't back or they were ready sooner than 30 minutes).

Even if that's the case, a phone call would've been wonderful to confirm or reschedule. Or a voicemail just showing that they tried to reach out. When I told them my disappointment for their lack of professionalism all I got was "seems like there's a misunderstanding/miscommunication". No sincere apologies nor concern, just "okay" for everything that was discussed. None of them even asked if my dog needed immediate attention or how he was doing.

My 21 year old dog Chuck was referred to Dr. Ratner several months ago by our vet. We are blessed and happy with the care, concern, and professionalism demonstrated by Dr. Ratner's expert knowledge for our beloved pet. We are greeted by courteous staff, and are shown attention at each visit. She answers our questions, listens to our concerns and genuinely cares that our Chuck's needs have been met.

We came in with an extreme condition, and she worked a miracle! We are very grateful and will continue to keep our sweet Chuck in her care. THANKS to all of you at the clinic. You are an amazing staff that care for your patients.

Thank you for helping our Blue! Our Blue is an 8 year old husky and was having serious eye problems. Other vets just wanted to take out his eyes. Our hearts were broken. Dr Ring saved his eyes! Staff was phenomenal and wonderful. Dr Ring is fabulous! I love her so much! Blue's eyes and health is much better now, thanks to this fantastic clinic and it's awesome people. Thank you with all my heart! You saved our Blue! I cannot express my gratitude!

Everyone was so great! They treated my dog with care and concern all while making something potentially scary a LOT less so by explaining things thoroughly during the appt. P.S. The prices were on par with industry standard (contrary to previous reviews :) )

This was the first time I had taken any of my pets to an animal ophthalmologist. I took my dog because I could see that he has cataracts on one eye and it's beginning on another. I give this animal ophthalmologist five stars because they were very courteous and organized and their procedure during this pandemic. But mostly I give them five stars because the doctor did not rush to the option of surgery.

Instead he cautioned on the side of it's not that bad yet. This tells me that he cares deeply for his patience. Instead he has instructed me to put drops in my dog's eyes once a day and follow up in two months with him.

Went to see Dr Munger in the Grapevine location. My Frenchie had a eye condition where some scratches were not healing. Went in and was impressed with Dr. Mungers knowledge. He set up a medical procedure to fix it that day. I felt the price was very reasonable. We recommend going here for a dog eye injury.

We highly recommend Animal Ophthalmology Clinic and Dr. Nettune! Our Australian Shepherd lost eye sight in one eye and Dr. Nettune met us after hours to find the problem and figure out a game plan that would help our happy dog! We are very thankful for his knowledge and love for our dog and other animals.

Very friendly staff. Took the time to explain the plan of care for our cat. Dr. Schoster was very knowledgeable and explain things as he was examine our cat!

This was our first visit to the clinic. Dr Nettunes assistant was kind & gentle with my cat Ringo. Dr Nettune was also gentle with Ringo yet I was most impressed with the detailed explanation of our situation!

Rescued a 4 week old kitten that had an eye problem and we suspected she is blind in that eye. Took her in to see Dr. Ring, who ran a myriad of tests and confirmed her blindness, and we have continuing care to make sure there is no infection. Nice staff, easy access to parking and a great central location.

This is where I came to have my dog's eyes evaluated so I could have them cleared for certification for possible finishing confirmation shows and breeding. Making an appointment was relatively easy but please call before you need the appointment as it took 4-6 weeks to get an appointment. Someone called and confirmed a day or so before my appointment which was nice although I am always aware of appointments I schedule.

I arrived at the facility - easy directions and on a main street, ample parking close to the entrance. Made my way to the clinic on the second floor with my 2 dogs. Check in was easy and the receptionist handed me forms to complete. The medical assistant came and took me to an office where the eval would be done and checked microchip numbers. Then she left.

I finished my paperwork and waited about 15 minutes for the doctor to come in. I made this appointment with a friend of mine with one dog because the cost is $75 for the eye eval up to 3 dogs so why not get the best value?! The doctor evaluated and explained, filled out the medical paperwork and now all that has to be done is we submit the form with $12 to the eye certification place and you can receive your eye certification. All three of our dogs had clear eyes so no problems. :- I would be happy to go to this same place again if and when I ever am in need of an eye evaluation again.

The people at this clinic are amazing all around. My chiuhauha had a proptosis where her eye came out! The staff took care of us immediately Monday morning and took great care of her and me. (I was pretty emotional about it) I can't say enough great things about this group who really love dogs and people! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

The doctors and staff here are absolutely incredible. I brought my dog here for the first time over a year ago. He had glaucoma and had to have his right eye removed. Since then we have returned many times for prescription refills and check ups. Unfortunately, the glaucoma in his left eye became too much, and the other day we were faced with him losing his other eye.

I am so thankful they gave us every option available, with both the risk and advantages for each. He had his operation today, and I am so glad they took such good care of him. Every person I have ever encountered here has a level of compassion and understanding that amazes me. Their total love for animals is obvious and their skill and care is beyond the best. My dog is recovering well, and I only wish I could go there myself if I had eye issues! My deepest thanks to everyone who works here!

So far so good. My sweet schnauzer had diabetic cataracts and since he's pretty young still, we bit the bullet and paid for the surgery. Dr. Baldwin has been amazing. She explained the entire process throughly, and answered my 19 million questions and I never felt like she was rushing. After his surgery she called me to let me know that he was waking up and alert already.

We are now in the post-op check-ups and everything is good! The office is super organized and appointments run very on time! My boy actually wags his tail when he sees Dr. Baldwin so that's approval from him too! I would absolutely recommend Dr. Baldwin for your pet's eye care needs!

Dr. Baldwin is the BEST! A small stye appeared on our 11 month old cairn terrier and we took him to a vet near our house. They gave him a cream and we were on our way. A few days later, after using the cream his eye became more swollen and had an an infection. We then took him to another vet that we prefer, it's just farther away from our house.

They proceeded to pop the stye and give 2 antibiotics, creams and pain reliever. A week later, both eyes were swollen shut with blood coming out of the blisters on his eye lids. After 4 vet visits from two different clinics, both doctor's not having a clue what the diagnosis was and almost $1,000 later we then took him to the Animal Ophthalmology Clinic.

As soon as Dr. Baldwin walked into the room she said immediately that our puppy had Meibomian gland adenitis. If only we had gone there to begin with! She prescribed another round of a different antibiotic, cream and steroids. This was exactly what our little boy needed. He is so much better now and we are so thankful that Dr. Baldwin precisely and accurately diagnosed our dog.

I highly recommend her as she is very good at what she does and impressed us with her knowledge right of the bat! Not to mention, everyone there is very friendly and you can tell they love animals. They treated our dog like a baby. : We were expecting to pay an arm and a leg to see an animal eye specialist but it was very reasonable. Don't hesitate to make an appointment with Dr. Baldwin if your pet has any eye issues!

Dr Munger is amazing! I cannot say enough good things about this team and the customer service they provide. I was not able to make it to my Boston Terrier's first appointment, so Dr Munger called me (at 5pm on a Friday on a holiday weekend) to explain to me everything that was going on. He really knows his stuff and is incredibly thorough. My pup just had his eye surgery and Dr Munger again called me during lunch to follow up and answer any questions I might have.

I would trust him with any eye issue and also trust that he will recommend the best and most cost effective treatment possible. I would recommend him to anyone and wish I could use him for every day veterinarian issues!

I really rarely give 5 stars to anyone or anything. I have a very old Boston Terrier(14) that has developed corneal ulcers on both of his eyes. The first one led to surgery because I did not catch it in time. The surgical experience was a very positive one. They did not gouge me and they were very attentive to my hysteria over this happening. They put my mind at ease that we would get past it and we did.

The second ulcer (other eye) occurred 9 months later and was not as severe. They got me right in the clinic and we are on a drops protocol. I cannot say thank you enough to Dr. Baldwin & the entire staff at the clinic. They do a wonderful job and go above and beyond to make the pet parents of their patients feel at ease.

We brought our dog Buddy in, who was born blind and got glaucoma at two years old. This facility was top notch, professional, and everyone there is super nice. It has been two years since his surgery and he is doing fantastic with the prosthetic they put in. I have been back many times to have them check his progress and they barely charge me anything. I HIGHLY recommend!

Run by ethical, caring, competent professionals who don't overcharge their patients by performing unnecessary surgeries or costly procedures while still providing the highest level of care. These kind doctors evaluated my baby, treated her corneal ulcer as we waited and sent her home with 2 kinds of eye drops and anti-inflammatory pills. All in less than 45 minutes and for $150. 2 weeks later when we brought her back for her follow up visit, the ulcer was completely healed and her eye was as good as new.

An Ophthomologist?! Expecting to spend some SERIOUS bank?. I didn't, that was not my experience. The prices were reasonable and the service was well above average. The entire staff had a visible love for pets. Not only did I see it, my dog felt it and was more at ease. Big Props!
