Took a cat here 2014 had mammary cancer and at that time my husband and I felt getting proper advice and treatment plan for her. In 2014 did not experience the issues with appointment and issues Huffard animal is having now. I thought it good care as different vet clinic did not even tell us she had mammary cancer. So fast forward to 2022. Just calling Huffard AH is very hard to get through on the phone, when they answer first thing, they say is this an emergency if not you are put on hold.
I considered taking cat who had possible IBD. I thought maybe I will take him here for second opinion as I remember Huffard being reasonable in price. Day of the appointment walk in and no one at front desk said hello or greeted me very strange and one other person appeared to be waiting to be helped or check in I assumed. I ask person waiting is this the line.
Person waiting did not answer me. Right off the bat the atmosphere taking a turn here. Someone finally comes out to help and still people at front desk are answering phones or talking on the phones but do not look up at customers very strange. Very uncaring atmosphere for a vet clinic where you are trusting them to take care of ones you love. DR Plitt saw my precious boy I love my cat dearly; my cat has been a great comfort to me after losing someone to cancer Jan 2020 right before the Covid Pandemic.
Our pets are companions and should be treated as such. DR Plitt examined my boy it's the IBD basic, plan. I took her advice and also started on special diet. She did not offer any blood work or tests for my cat I thought well maybe to offset cost start here first. I did mention to DR Plitt I thought cats belly felt distended. DR Plitt felt it and said to me his intestines are inflamed.
So Pred and Flaygl and special diet. My cats belly starting to grow, and he is a male neutered cat. I thought about going to different animal hospital but thought well I will try again especially since reading good reviews here I thought maybe was a bad day. Calling the clinic person answers is this an emergency no she then says there are three people in front of you it will be a 15 minute wait.
I agree and put my land line of speaker and wait. Finally phone rings but then goes to voicemail! I leave a message and they do call back next day. She hears what I have to say and says DR Plitt will call you back. DR Plitt does call and says bring him in for X-ray and squeezes him in. After I wait in waiting room on those uncomfortable wooden benches she calls me to exam room.
I see X ray and can see his belly. DR Plitt says to me you are right he does have fluid on his belly. I cannot do anything for him. Yes that is what she says to me I cannot do anything for him. She says it could be FIP, Cancer, Liver issue. Does not offer any treatment plan, nothing! I ask can't you draw fluid off of his belly at least? She agrees to that and send fluid analysis.
They only drew a small insignificant amount of fluid on his belly its still huge. Total cost of fluid analysis is 400 dollars. Total cost of visit 600 and still nothing for my precious boy. So just take him home watch him die. No! I wait and finally call AH myself to get answer on test what a waste of time and money DR Plitt says test was did not tell her I forgot exactly what she said but again fluid analysis did not give an answer.
I just threw away money to that place. I finally tool my boy to a Vet who did drain fluid off of his belly 800cc of it and he did blood work, and he had a high WBC count. My cat was finally given treatment, I was not told cannot do anything. Other vet said to me why did they not do anything are they just one track mind it could be FIP and he is going to die anyway mentality.
I am very displeased with Huffard AH, no one should be told that there is nothing they can do for their pet unless he is on deaths door my cat clearly is not and is getting treatment he so dearly deserves. I trusted this place and they failed me.

(Editing to respond to owner) I called the vets you reccomended and none are seeing rabbits anymore. The only one available now is an exotic vet on wheels which needs to enter your home, and that is not feasible as I rent a room and do not live alone. Thanks for the backhanded response. Don't label yourself as an animal hospital if you only see healthy animals.
That makes no sense (Original review) The first few times I went here the vets were good at their job but my experience with this location has gone down hill massively because they seem like they'll say anything to avoid seeing my pet. They have exotic vets on staff and my rabbit is calm, loving, and personable but whenever I try to schedule an appointment I get an excuse. Today's excuse is that they don't see sick rabbits only healthy.
He's not even sick nor did I say he was sick, I just need his eye looked at. Everywhere else I called was up front and said they don't see rabbits or have an exotic vet so I guess the staff here is okay with messing with their customers loved pets. At the times they did see sick rabbits I've had 2 rabbits die a few years apart because they didn't have time to see them either time and wanted to schedule weeks out even though on their website they say they accept pets with urgent needs. 1 of my rabbits actually died a few days after being neutered by the doctors here and the doctors didn't seem concerned when I reached out for urgent care. However, they surely have no problem taking my money same day when I am in need of cremation services after I've tried everything to save my pet.
Whenever my dogs have issues they get seen with problem. I confirm there's an exotic vet on staff before I let my issue be known every single time. So, Rabbit owners, beware. They would rather your pet die during an over hour long drive to a exotic pet vet than fulfill a need that their staff is trained to do.

This is a wonderful vet, and I highly recommend them for your pet care. The folks were friendly, compassionate, and very careful with my little kitten. I think they love my kitten almost as much as I do. My little kitten loves them almost as much as I do. When he visits, he constantly purrs, and the staff spoil him nearly as much as I do.

Not one to post many reviews however credit must be given when credit is due. All in all, great experience. My dog, who is not the best other dogs, started having some emergency symptoms and I needed to get him seen relatively timely. The girl on the phone was great and squeezed me into their hectic schedule. They took great care in his and my own comfort, the communication was great, professional yet friendly and relatable, and took extra steps in making sure there were no stressful encounters for him. Despite the rushes and many customers, the wait was bare. Prices are reasonable and there is no premium for the care that you and your pet receive. Great team, great job!
