DO NOT GO HERE unless you absolutely have to. I've been here a handful of times now because they allow walk ins ( and only because they allow walk ins. The staff is very nice and seemingly knowledgeable however this place is absolutely more about the dollar than they are helping animals. They will squeeze every little penny out of you and up sell you on things that are far more expensive through them. They sold me antibiotics to give for 10 days and they ran out after 6.5 days ( they didn't give me enough). However they tell me I need to come back in, pay for another sample, pay for more medicine, etc... they also gave my kitten some medicine that he IMMEDIATELY threw up... they charged me for, and sent me on my way "in hopes" that enough was ingested. Told me I can always come back in on a later day and check to see if they worked... another pay day for them!! That is their main concern. I have been to several different vets all over VA and this is the ONLY ONE I have been to with such lack of accountability and VERY STRONG urge to make every cent they can off every single individual. They're services and products are also more expensive than any other one I have been to. They are "big pharma" of the va vets.

Dr. Grenoble and his staff are truly exceptional. Dr. Grenoble is incredibly down to earth and genuinely cares about your pet's well-being. Despite not being from Virginia, we had to stop by on our way home, and we were met with such kindness and respect. If we find ourselves in the area again, we will definitely return.

Over the years Chesdin Animal Hospital, owned by Dr. Richard Grenoble, along with his staff, I've experienced the emotional highs and lows of pet ownership. Dr. Grenoble's professional level of care is only matched by his compassion. Following in the footsteps of his late father Dr. Grenoble carries forward the name so well recognized in the veterinary community. I myself began taking my pets to Chesdin Animal Hospital many years ago. After relocating more than an hour away I continue to trust the care and treatment of my pets to Dr. Grenoble. You'll always be greeted by professional staff and technicians who genuinely care about you and your pet. Listen to the conversations in the waiting area and you'll hear the testimonies from patients who brought their pets to the late Dr Grenoble and continue to trust the care of their pets to Chesdin Animal Hospital and Dr. Richard Grenoble.

I cannot overstate how incredible this office is. The vet was incredibly patient and welcoming to my dog, despite my anxious pup nipping at him. He made sure my dog's care was a top priority, even though it was near closing time when we arrived. The receptionist was also extremely helpful and friendly when I picked him up the next day. I would recommend this office to anyone and am willing to make the 45-minute drive here instead of going to a closer vet.

The veterinarian and the entire staff are excellent. The veterinarian takes the time to explain the reasons behind the recommended treatments for your pet. The convenience of being a walk-in practice is invaluable, especially in situations where your pet is injured or unwell, as they can be seen on the same day. If there's a wait during routine care appointments, it's typically due to a pet emergency, highlighting the prioritization of urgent cases.

My ten week old puppy had to have emergency surgery today the staff at this vet is so wonderful and showed so much empathy Dr. genoble( not sure how to spell) is a real vet he was really concerned about our baby he was so patient and loving with us and him.i would recommend this vet all day every day. You just don't see the passion I saw in that office anymore.the whole staff was great.

The folks at Chesdin are a truly understanding and helpful team of Veterinary professionals. I have nothing but good things to say about my experiences with them. At a time when it can be a struggle to get an appointment with a vet, their drop-in-only model is something that the community desperately needs. Their prices are also very affordable, for folks to whom cost is a concern. We are lucky to have them!

Super rude staff at this place. Had my dog scheduled to be spayed for over 2 months and then I am told the morning of her spay that they will not accept my SPCA voucher bc she is purebred. However, she is a mix and apparently they didn't believe me bc I got her from a breeder. I drove over 35 min to and from this place only to be turned down when they had originally accepted my previous voucher. I can't justify paying $400 plus for a spay when I am currently battling breast cancer. So disappointing.

I've never wrote a review before, but this experience was so inconvenient I felt like I had to. I had come here once before around the time covid started, nothing special, but no issues. Yesterday, I called to see if I needed to book an appointment for routine shots for my two cats, to which I got a response "no, you just walk right in, you don't have to do anything special". Okay, cool.
Today I arrived at noon, an hour before they close for what I guess is their lunch. The lady proceeds to ask me if I had signed in already, I told her no, I was told I could just walk in. As it turns out, you have to "sign in" no later than 11:45a to be seen before 1pm. This is all fine, but NO ONE relayed this to me when I called. She said to come back at 2:45pm to sign in as though I'm going to sit around and wait that long to be seen when I am coming from the Fort Lee area.
If I had come back at 2:45 I might have just asked them if they had some gas money for wasting my time. Both of my cats have special needs, and I'm actually glad I got turned away before being seen by any veterinarian here. To some degree, I feel like I'm not saying anything different than what some of these other reviews have said. These folks are both rude in person, and over the phone, where they sigh and try to get you off of there as fast as possible.
Like most places in a small town, I'm sure most of these good reviews come from the locals who know them personally already. Being that I work at a 1000+ room lodging facility for the military, most of whom will be PCSing to this area with their family, when asked about local vet offices for their furry family members I will make it a point to let them know about my experience here.

Great place I wouldn't take Miss Tilly to anyone else! Love Dr. Grenoble! He takes his time with and talks to you. I love the care that he shows. His father was the same way. I miss seeing him at the office. Had many conversations with Dr. Grenoble Sr. I would recommend this office to anyone looking for excellent care of their pet.

I'm not one to leave bad reviews, but I just can't anymore. I have made 3 attempts in the last week to bring my dog in and get turned away everytime because of one reason or another. This is not close to me but works great with my schedule. I understand you have one doctor but if your short a vet maybe you should take appointments until this is resolved.

The ladies who work here are very rude. When I ask a question, I get a deep sigh, as if I'm bothering them. I've been there approximately 10 times and they are rude every single time. The only reason we still go here is because it's convenient, close to home. The last time we were there my dog literally held on to me out of fear. She DID NOT want to stay.
As if that isn't bad enough, the rude ladies called the morning of an appointment and rescheduled. And that's fine, but when we had to reschedule, they charged us forty dollars. They are terrible, rude, and possibly the most nastiest attitude we have ever encountered. Seeing their nastiness towards people, how kind do you think they are towards our animals. My advice is FIND ANOTHER VET, we did and our animals and us are extremely happy.
