Dr. Sherer became the owner of Powell Veterinary Clinic in 2019, after joining the office in 2005. She earned her bachelor's degree in animal science at The Ohio State University, then earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at The Ohio State Veterinary College in 2001. Dr. Sherer has a special interest in exotic mammalian - "pocket pets" - medicine, which came about from breeding and showing rabbits in her past. She has a small farm where she raises chickens and has horses, llamas, a dog, cats and a saltwater-reef fish tank.
Recently one of our boys experienced a urinary issue which can be fatal if not diagnosed quick and properly. We received timely phones calls with updates on all tests, medications and all treatment options were explained to us. Very quick response. Overall rating of 5 stars is because everyone is so kind, helpful, knowledgeable and patient.

New to the area. I took my cat to get his nails trimmed. I told them he would be extremely feisty and my former vet and i and one of his techs were able to get it done. Well. First time of course i wasnt allowed in bldg. ecause of covid. Understand. Next two times allowed in but had to stay in lobby because of liability. After that appt they wanted me to give him 2 doses of gabapentin. NExt time as they couldnt trim one set of paws.
Well that never happened before.granted a low dose but. So i returned. I had given him both doses as required. No luck. Then they wanted to sedate him. I said No. i wanted to say just let me in the room w him. I am not saying these people arent good in their job. But I know my cat. I know how i worked with former vet. Yes the cat did holler but zip zap zip and we were done.

I typically do not write reviews. However I felt the need to write a review based on the dedication of Dr. Sherer and associates. This practice took care of our two wonderful Border Collies for over ten years. I have to tell you the 45 minutes in traffic is well worth the experience. There is no way to put into words the care, comfort and dedication all of the staff display towards the care of our pets. If you need Veterinary care I highly recommend Powell Veterinary Clinic.

The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable, and treat each of my pets with respect and compassion. Efficient, effective veterinarians take the time to do thorough examinations, treatments, and procedures. Staff is good at answering questions about my pets and being sure I am offered everything my pets need. The waiting room has many large windows low enough for my pets to see out of. Natural light floods the room.

If I could I would give them 0 stars. I started with this office nearly twenty years ago and was satisfied with their service. However the original owner/veterinarian retired last year and the vet who took over her practice is appalling. We have three elderly and ailing pets and have spent literally thousands of dollars at that office. The medications and special foods we purchased from them were expensive but thought we had no other options.
We learned they were not merely expensive but between 50-60% higher then at Chewy's to name just one competitor that carried the same product. Needless to say we now purchase product elsewhere. Rather than care about animals this office is mercenary to the extreme. It saddens me to write this because there was a time ( before the office was sold ) that care and concern had priority.

To be clear, I don't use them but took my neighbor to her appointment because she needed help getting her cats there. Vet and staff were very accommodating with last appointment of the day and took their time without ever acting "put out" or inconvenienced even though appointment lasted almost 2 hours, the day before Thanksgiving. My neighbor has implicit trust in the level of care and I thought their customer service was impressive.

When my sweet cat was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer, the staff at Powell Veterinary Clinic did everything possible to help me deal with the many decisions that had to be made. That can't be any easy job under any circumstances, and must be even harder with a pet that showed no signs of illness until 2 days before her diagnosis! I greatly appreciate all that they did to make a very hard day easier for both me and my cat.

An exemplary practice. Thorough in examination and diagnosis, and fairly priced for the scope and quality of services. Remarkable attention to the well-being of our companions. We've taken our rescue mix here for years. Additionally, they have been welcoming to our daughter's bulldog, who usually sees another practice. They do not hesitate to come early or stay late to deal with difficult issues or emergencies. They truly care about the animals they treat.

The staff here is great. They are very thorough and take lots of time to answer any/all questions you may have. They were super sweet with my dogs and I appreciated that. Also, my dog slipped a disk in his back and had to go to MedVet, who faxed the records to Powell Vet Clinic. The next morning, I received a call from Powell Vet Clinic checking on my dog, which I thought was above and beyond.
