Services
Riverview Animal Hospital was established in 1956 by O.D. Dickinson and was called Dickinson Animal Hospital. Dr. James R. Cook, DVM joined the practice in 1974 after graduating first in his class from M.S.U. He purchased the practice in 1978 after Dr. Dickinson retired. Dr. Sherrill O'Neil, DVM worked at the practice while she was in high school and returned to work each summer while she attended M.S.U.
A: We like to see puppies and kittens at 6 weeks of age to start their vaccines and check a stool sample for parasites. A: You have to keep in mind that most pets are spayed and neutered when they are puppies or kittens. They are very active at this age and burn a lot of calories. They will naturally gain weight as they grow older and settle down.

I was worried sick about my Daisy. She had suddenly started having diarrhea and not acting like herself. I was afraid it was something serious, called and got in that day. Dr. Charney was great! She examined Daisy and was so warm and friendly. Daisy was more relaxed than I have ever seen her at the vet. Dr. Charney also did a great job of asking questions, listening to me, and calming my fears.
The office called me a couple of days later to check on her. Daisy's system was pretty messed up, but she's doing great now and I am so appreciative of Riverview Animal Hospital!

I've always had good experiences when taking my dog here, however, now that I've moved to a new state, I'm a little disappointed. I've asked the office to send my dog's records to my new vet in NC, and they are making it very difficult. First, I must sign a release, and then I must wait for them to MAIL the records. My dog has previously seen a couple other specialists in MI, and when I asked these other offices to send his records it was no problem at all. It sounds to me like Riverview Animal Hospital doesn't have electronic records? Very odd and frustrating.

They have taken care of my babies Always. All of my dogs lived very healthy, and very long, happy lives. We took our dog to Riverview based on a recommendation from a friend. It was a routine check-up, and we couldn't be happier. The staff are very friendly. Between the techs and the veterinarian himself, everyone is knowledgeable and provided answers to all of our questions. We didn't feel pushed in any way, and will be returning in the future. I have gone to Riverview Animal Hospital since the 1970's. All the Drs. are very compassionate and caring. I won't go any where else. They are very good at giving you estimates for needed procedures and are very honest in letting you know why a procedure is necessary. They will tell you if you suggest an unnecessary procedure. I love the the veterinarians.
