I have been serving the Glen Carbon area as a licensed veterinarian since 2001. I graduated from Kansas State University in 1990, and am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. It has been a career goal to provide our community with the current and best medical care for a wide variety of pets.
Olsen Veterinary Clinic is proud to provide exceptional care to the Madison County, IL area. Dr. Olsen is one of the few vets in the area that is trained to treat larger farm animals such as horses and cows. Since the office is not conducive to treating larger animals in house, Dr. Olsen is happy to come to you to take care of the health of your animal.
The most common MLS Therapy indications are pain relief, intervertebral disc disease, post surgical pain relief, degenerative joint disease, wound healing, arthritic conditions, muscular/skeletal system trauma, and inflammatory conditions. MLS therapy uses both the 808nm and 905nm wavelengths simultaneously.

Dr. Olsen was able to see my dog within 24 hours of requesting an appointment. He was on time and took the time to understand what was going on with Harley. She needed sedation and he was gentle with her. He reassured me that she was going to come out of sedation. During sedation, he was able to clip her ripped nail, check the others, and trim them as well. This was not our first time with Dr. Olsen and it won't be our last.

We are currently on dog #2 under Dr. Olsen's care. Our previous dog and current dog have always received wonderful care. "Doc" is knowledgeable and his years of experience are very beneficial when it comes to providing care. He is honest and will provide multiple treatment options if available. His prices are fair and much cheaper than some of the big clinics/hospitals in the area. Those cheaper prices are a good thing, it means you aren't paying for services or tests your pet doesn't need.

Rescued a puppy. Part of the rescue was having her spayed at Olsen. There were comications the next day. Called and left a message. They were not open so had to use another veterinarian office. The other office said the puppy was too young to have been spayed and the procedure was performed in a way that made it more prone to infections. The biggest complaint is that Olsen never followed up with us from the message left regarding to to post-op issues. Have since heard from 2 others that this is the same they have experienced.

PLEASE! If you do anything, do NOT take your pet to this clinic. The staff is negligent and blatantly lied to my face. I was told my dog had her parvo and rabies shot when in fact they just never did it. They were then appalled when I questioned why I was lied to and I was hung up on. The service is awful, the communication is awful, and the care was awful. I could write a novel, but please love your pet and do better than this place.

My pup had a likely to be harmful breast tumor growing, leading to taking her in to be evaluated. As it turned out it was cancerous and I was very thankful that she could be seen very quickly (within a week of her being seen the first time) to have the mass removed. The staff have all been very friendly and super accommodating- she can be dog reactive and they've let me into a private room, etc so she isn't being a pain in reception. She loved the staff and post op I was incredibly surprised to find her hanging out behind the desk with the receptionists watching her. Great staff and great service!

I have been taking my cats here for 5 years now and will never go anywhere else. They are caring friendly and very professional. I had my two girl kittens spayed yesterday and the stitches are clean neatly done. My kitties are happy and recovering well thanks to the staff at Olsen veterinary clinic.

I recently transferred my pitbull to Dr. Olsen after being seen by another vet in the area and not getting the help I needed. I was so thankful for his expertise! He not only took the time to listen to my concerns but decided to take small steps in our process of treating my dogs stomach issues. I also enjoy that his office isn't insane and busy. It's nice to not have to corral your dog around TONS of people and dogs going in and out. Definitely give Dr. Olsen a chance!

I lost 2 cats in 2020 due to the financial hardship and expensive quotes provided by another well known very clinic in Glen Carbon. I was faced with another illness with my surviving cat this December and at a loss knowing I couldn't go back to our previous vet. I found Dr. Olsen on Google and they got me in the same day. They were able to treat and help my deathly ill cat and save his life without forcing me to make the choice of either giving him thousands of dollars or letting my cast die. I'm very grateful for him and his assistant, Andy!
I only wish I would have known of him and his practice earlier, then my other 2 cats might still be alive. I highly recommend Dr. Olsen if you need good care for your pets at a reasonable price.

Brought my dog here to get neutered and while the surgery was okay, the communication between the doctor, front desk staff, and me was horrific. The front desk staff was useless, including the doctor who never spoke to me after the surgery, and gave me little information about how to take care of my dog's post surgery needs or concerns. When I asked questions about post surgery, I was given a vague answer. BUT my FAVORITE answer I received when I asked the staff if my dog had glue or stitches was "I don't know. I wasn't there." I will not being going back and will tell every pet owner of my terrible experience here.

Jenna Kueper, who works here, is also involved with Four Paws Sake rescue group in Maryville, IL. These are not "rescuers", they are dog nappers. Just know that she is watching to see where pure breds are having litters so they can come confiscate your puppies and call you a "backyard breeder" when you try to get them back. Dr. Olsen might be great, but his staff is corrupt.

NEVER TAKE YOUR PET HERE! If zero stars was an option I'd go with that. I brought my cat in to see Dr. Olsen for the first time. He was diagnosed with a UTI (common in male cats). Dr. Olsen said that my cat needed to be catheterized and kept over night. He then called the following day to say that my cat was blocked up again so he re-catheterized my cat and kept him over the weekend.
The doctor went out of town over this weekend, but decided to clear my cat to be sent home on Monday without seeing him first (which he admitted to). I went to pick my cat up after work on Monday and the nurse yelled at me for trying to open the carrier in the office to see how my cat was feeling. When I got my cat home and let him out of the carrier, he was dripping blood WITH the plastic parts of the catheter STILL SEWN INTO HIM and he was covered in his own pee from laying in it all weekend long.
I have the pictures to prove it. To add to that, my cat was sent home from Olsen's office with a completely blocked bladder. Olsen and his staff did not even check on the state of my cat's bladder before sending him home with me. I had to rush my cat to the emergency hospital, where they told me that surgery was required because his area was too irritated to try to catheterize him again.
When my cat got into surgery it was discovered that only 1/4 of his bladder was left because Olsen used outdated medicine (a hard catheter) on my cat which punctured a hole into his bladder. The emergency vet clinic was unable to save my cat due to this. To top it all off. Olsen still charged me for the "work" he did on my cat. When I went to his office to explain why I refused to pay the bill, he threatened to take me to collections. Heartless.
