I cannot say enough good things about this vet. My dog can be aggressive at the vet (we always muzzle her) and have a very tough time, especially with people who don’t know her. Well, not here. The staff from the receptionist (kat), to the vet ( Dr. Vance) and everyone in between were compassionate, kind, patient, and just amazing with our girl. It’s not often I can leave a vet appointment and say it went well and I do not have a bad thing to say about a single person we came across. Kelsey, the vet tech was also absolutely amazing. The facility it self was spotless and up to date. I hope I don’t need another emergency appointment but if I do I would absolutely go back

VMCLI is amazing. The staff is professional. Dr. Tara Tischio is an amazing surgeon. Our dog went there with IVDD and back legs paralyzed. Today is post op day 3 and we are so amazed that he is able to stand for a few seconds. We are so happy since we were told that his feeling could take months before returning or may never return at all. Thank you VMCLI!

My dog was scheduled for surgery and we arrived by 7:30. All people had to wait in the parking lot since it was post Covid. They called me and asked if I had the cash $4500 and I said no I’m using my debit card. They said my dog have the surgery if I don’t have the cash. I had to race back 30 miles to my bank and get cash and pray they can still the surgery Never in my life was I treated with so much disrespect they should have informed me the day before I needed cash. What business doesn’t take checks or credit cards for services. My poor
Baby passed away 6 months later
But I do now have 2 9 month olds Aussies. If for any reason they need precessional care I will go to Gold Coast in Huntington.

By far worst experience ever i called was told they have a surgeon on staff everyone seemed nice when u walk in they had me wait 40 minutes in cold lobby i felt forgotten then put into a room in back after waiting 20 minutes i was finally seen by a vet who was quick to tell me she has no pets no dogs or cats thankfully she said after telling she will be back in a few minutes with a quote for X-rays and.

She finally came back 30 minutes later with a 1600 plus bill on low side and 1900 plus high side which i told her was nuts she still wanted 200 dollars for writing up a quote no formal exam was done she didn't even hold my dog with her two hands and finally when i get home i get a bill for $195 for me to sit waiting not even a exam or anything This is not how u conduct business i know we wear mask now due to covid but it doesn't mean we get to rob people im awaiting a call from management this is absurd i even called before going to discuss ahead of time do not believe anything ur told over the phone or even in-person

For the past year, my cat Moonlight has had a myriad of health problems. He developed high blood pressure, lost weight, was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, and had issues with his left eye. I began seeing the doctors at VMCLI a few months ago for his eye. He had lens luxation, glaucoma, a cataract, and reoccurring ulcers. The doctors and employees at VMCLI have always been patient with me and have done their best to advocate for Moonlight.

The ulcers were painful and the staff would always work with my schedule to get Moonlight in as quickly as possible. I have had to wait in the car while they take Moonlight inside which is understandable but nonetheless nerve-wracking. I have learned to trust the staff at VMCLI because everyone I have dealt with has been so sweet to Moonlight and kind and understanding with me. Moonlight recently had surgery with Dr. MacLeese to remove his eye.

The surgery went smoothly and Moonlight is happier than he has been in months. VMCLI and Dr. Macleese have communicated clearly and honestly with me from our first appointment. The surgery ended up costing less than the estimate which was an unexpected relief. The staff and doctors care here and I am so glad I brought Moonlight to them.

If I can give a 0 for a review I would! This place is AWFUL! STAY AWAY! I was sent here from a trusted animal hospital in Bohemia which I've now lost trust in, as my dog was having "neurological issues" and needed an MRI! I was told to go here as the hospital I was in did not have a functioning machine. It's now 9:15 PM and my husband and I drive my poor baby to this HORRID PLACE!

They take my dog and have us wait in the car and I was told that the vet would call me shortly. Well car after car, dog after dog, and still no response as I am anxiously awaiting results about my poor baby! At 12:05 am my husband demanded our dog back and come to find out she was NEVER EVEN SEEN! I was told an hour wait from 9:30 PM! These people are beyond shady!

I am so glad I took my baby back and brought her to our vet today. She is home with us and on meds for quite the opposite and NEVER needed an MRI! Maybe the 2 animal hospitals are in cahoots! Definitely reporting this to Better Business Bureau!

I have absolutely NO idea why this place got such bad reviews. We took our dog here twice when she was in desperate conditions and the vet and staff were nothing but kind, knowledgeable, and informative. We got updates regularly and they took such good care of her. I cannot thank everyone here enough who gave our baby the care she needed that gave her 2 more years of life. When it was her time to go, they made her SO comfortable. My family and I cannot thank everyone here enough.

Everybody at VMC took such good care of our baby during her final moments. it was critical and they saw us so fast. from the moment we pulled up in their parking lot we were met with compassion and were seen so quickly. natalie was so kind and compassionate and the nurses gave us this beautiful remembrance paw print from our girl.i can't recommend VMC hospital enough. we were very comforted and well taken care of, and my cat passed peacefully with their care. thank you to everybody who helped us in this very difficult time.

Dr. Brodsky and his oncology team gave me five more months with my sweet boy that I didn't think I would ever have. He is truly an amazing person, and I will forever be grateful for everything he did for Loki. After Loki passed away, Dr. Brodsky and his team sent my family such a beautiful card. They truly cared for my dog. If you are looking for a veterinary oncologist, look no further. This oncology team is five star. Thank you again.

If it were up to me I'd have this place shut down never to be open again. 1 star is a compliment to this horribly greedy practice. My cat needed an emergency catheter due to a urinary blockage. He Needed it or else he would die and they knew that. They then proceeded to hand me a bill with a low of $4700 and a high of $6400 I needed to pay the low upfront or else.

None of which I could afford I had to pull my cat from this horrible place ( Thank God) and yet In the midst of a panic attack at the thought of my best friend dying and no other option they shoved a $195 consultation fee down my throat before I could get my cat. I brought my cat to Grady animal hospital in Sayville and paid a fraction their low estimate. $749 for everything. This place is criminal.

Please do not use this factory. They kept us waiting in the parking it for 5 hours. Charged us $1300 upfront. Did not return any phone calls after waiting on the phone close to 1 hour each time. When they finally got back to us the next day, they said we needed $5000 for an MRI or they could not do anything for the puppy. They suggested to put the puppy to sleep.

I picked the puppy up and today she is doing great. In March we got a $2600 collection letter. We never received any bills. They charged us close to $1000 late fees. After calling them 5 times, each time waiting 30 mins. repeating the same story snd telling them I was writing a negative review, they finally got back to me. They refused to listen, and hung up. They did absolutely nothing, and not even 30 days later reported and charged to a collection agency. They only care about $. Terrible experience

I had my first visit to VMCLI end of February 2022 with my 3 year old Lagotto Romagnolo. The system that is in place is like a swiss watch. Albeit covid protocols are being followed, it was a very pleasant and well organized experience. Dr. Puccio, was a very professional and empathetic to my LR.

Originally written 2019. Do not go to this veterinary medical center believing your pet will be receiving the very best of care and attention. Most of the veterinarians on ER duty appear right out of veterinary school. The established veterinarians, such as Dr. Brooke Hutt and Dr. Sean Hillock are not forthcoming and show little to no concern about how you are personally feeling while your pet is in their care. ER vet Dr. Brooke Hutt told me that my dog would be in the hospital four days, but the other vet Dr. Sean Hollick prematurely discharged him only after a 3-day stay.

My dog relapsed 48 hrs. after his being discharged and was readmitted to VMCLI. He died while under VMCLI's care. All I got from VMCLI was heartache and a large medical bill. They were not communicative with me as to who was treating my dog at any one time. I was told by Dr. Hutt that Dr. Hollick did not have the time to treat my dog when he was first admitted.

After my dog passed while in their care, I obtained his medical records from the hospital. One of the medical reports submitted was by Dr. Hollick, but I was told by Dr. Hutt that he didn't see my dog. I suspected something was wrong about my dog's medical treatment, so I decided to dispute the case in small claims court. At our court hearing, Dr. Hutt lied and told the judge she had informed me that Dr. Hollick did treat my dog.

At no time did Dr. Hutt provide me with that update, even though I saw her at the hospital the day after his admittance when I went to visit. Since I did not have a medical professional to advocate for my case, the judge dismissed the case. Then to add insult to injury, the ridiculous female lawyer representing the hospital yelled in glee that they had won, showing no civility regarding my dog's death!

Worst experience ever. Place is run like a mill and not a good one at that. Staff is rude and not compassionate. They care only about the money and not your pet. I dont know how they are in buisness. I would not recommend to my wost enemy. Doctors have poor diagnosing skills but not suprising since u actually dont speak to a doctor, u speak to a "worker" in the parking lot who then relays info to doctor.

They admitted my ill pet for 5 days stating it was better for its presumed pneumonia and then wanted to do some tests when it was dying. Too late for that! Rip to my sweet animal and all the other animals at the hands of this place. Awful, cant express how terrible this place is!

My senior dog is seen by Dr. La Croix. Last June he had surgery in both eyes at the center and he is now being treated for glaucoma. Dr. La Croix and her staff has gone above and beyond helping my dog as well as helping my husband and I understand his condition and carry over his treatment at home. They have been most caring, companionate and a great team of professionals. I am truly grateful to them and can not thank them enough.

This is a money-hungry hospital with exorbitant fees. After spending thousands of dollars on emergency care, they don't even include a follow up visit. And they charge three times the price of your family vet for bloodwork, after telling you that you should have the bloodwork drawn with them instead of with your own vet for follow up. Don't bother trying to call them to discuss the fees - they won't call you back and don't have any interest in working out payments. They're only willing to put you into collections.

As far as the veterinary care, it's fine. They did what they had to do, which is all you can hope for, but their high prices and nasty billing department is enough to make me stay away forever. I would never recommend them.

Mar 11, 2022
I have never experienced a veterinary clinic so focused on money. When your pet is in an emergency situation, you'll pay whatever it costs to help them. After you shell out thousands of dollars, don't expect this office to include any follow up care, and DO expect them to charge 3 times the price of your regular vet for a routine follow up service (such as lab work).

I can understand the high prices in the ER, as it's an emergency. However, when you've paid them so much money already, and they try to rip you off after the fact, by not telling you that day how much your lab services and follow up will cost, then mail you a bill for hundreds of dollars, it's very upsetting. Oh, and when you call to dispute or work anything out, their billing department casually blows you off.

You're told you'll be "called back by a manager" but never are. I gave two stars instead of one because the vet did help my pet and I am grateful for that, but honestly, the experience here with billing was so poor that I'd never come back or recommend them to anyone.

I wish I can post less than one star. What a terrible experience. The veterinary Medical Center of Long Island are all about the money. We took our dog there because of an issue walking and they told us he needed emergency surgery without even doing an x-ray or an MRI. They claim they did the surgery however we do not believe them. They refused to give us a copy of the MRI that was supposedly done prior to the operation.

We went back there multiple times and called plus over 25 emails back-and-forth related to copies of the MRI. They were dodging the question in the first 13 emails. I kept copies of everything. Finally I sent them an email with the highlighted line item on the invoice showing the charge for the MRI and they responded they will leave a copy at the booth.

They never left a copy at the booth because a copy doesn't exist. If they ever were to leave a copy I wouldn't even trust that it was for my dog. Before this all went down related to the copy of the MRI we returned for Physical Therapy and it was an absolute joke. They make you stay in the car and FaceTime you while they are inside and you can't see or hear them as they are wearing N 95 masks.

I told them we couldn't see her here but they did not care. The only thing they care about is the money. It's been two weeks since my dog surgery and he is in worse condition than before. Remember we do not believe he even had surgery. I hope this email helps at least one pet owner and their furry friend.

Can't give zero stars so 1 it is. This place is atrocious. They are ALLLL about money and couldn't care less about your pet or your time for that matter. Absolutely heartbroken over the recent loss of our pet who we unfortunately brought to this place for help. PLEASE AVOID!

We've had two experiences at VMCLI. First was that our elderly dog (12) had liver cancer. She was treated very well, her cancer was surgically removed and she recovered like a pro! The surgeon was constantly in touch, the staff was wonderful, I have nothing but kind words to say about them. Second was only on 2/22/22.our 8 1/2 year old dog hurt her hip.

We brought her there during covid requirements. We were greeted quickly in the parking lot and waited for the results. We were constantly in touch with the doctor and staff members and always informed of the next steps. In the pouring rain the staff members kept running in and out to communicate with us. They truly go above and beyond and I really wouldn't hesitate going to them again for any emergency. (We've been there other times for more minor issues and were treated with the same caring and respect.) We've gone to other hospitals that were horrible. This is a well-oiled machine and am proud to say I've been going there for years.

My pup was bitten on the paw by another dog and the team at this location was great. They were very thorough in explaining what needed to be done. Their team greeted us in the car with paperwork and came out to see our dog rather quickly. When he was brought inside, we waited and were advised on what was going to be done. They notified us that we could go home and they would call us when our pup would be ready. We couldn't be happier with the staff, the front desk, and the veterinarian at this location. Thank you for helping out Blue!

My epileptic dog was experiencing cluster seizures. We brought him to VMC after being sent home by North Shore Animal League's vet. After his sixth seizure we brought him to VMC they were quick to triage him and kept him overnight to get him stable and ready to come home. The staff was professional and compassionate. We even got to visit him before we left.

We received detailed discharge instructions and follow up texts and phone calls to check in on our boy! I highly recommend VMC for an emergency and will be looking into other services they may offer for our Lucky Boy.

Turn around and try your chances somewhere else. They will try to diagnose your animal over the phone after telling you earlier in the day they will have someone look at your pet in person. After lying to me and having the VT state that it was an over the phone diagnostic after being there earlier in the day and asking for a professional in herpitology to see him it seems I have wasted my time not only once but twice at this place.

I gave my information to try and speak with the owner to discuss the matter and maybe even dismiss the charges due to unprofessional handling of the whole situation. By the way my animal died overnight after being diagnosed with an illness that takes several weeks to die from. I am a big reptile keeper who is very knowledgeable on reptiles. it's sad that I know more than the vet when it comes to my animals.

I told them what medication he needed as well and informed them that I'm also in the process to become a veterinarian myself and I was still disregarded and denied the medication that I actually needed. This place runs on money that they take from hard working people who are in emotional distress for their loving animals. This facility is only running because it has a contract with Petco. Hopefully the company wakes up to this harsh abuse and decides to contract a more responsible / reasonable hospital/clinic.

INHUMANE! My husband and I spent 4.5 hours in VMCLI parking lot waiting for my cat's results. When they finally contacted us it was to do a $10,000 surgery on my 12 year old cat. We had already paid them $1,200 for the diagnosis they gave us earlier that day. We were told the surgery may not be successful so we decided to take our cat home. The doctor was not happy but an hour and 45 mintues later they brought my cat to us.

She was full of blood and so unkempt! I am sure they expected us to pay for the surgery and were not happy when we declined! You never get to see the facilites nor meet the doctor in person. I believe the place is just there to collect $$ and not save our pets!

Our young animal had a recent urinary blockage and became blocked again. We knew that the choices were to repeat that procedure or a more expensive evasive surgery. We leaned more on the surgery as we would not be able to afford both. We asked for the invoice so our pet can get some relief. They then told us that he'd need BOTH the procedure and the surgery done or he will die.

When we complained of being misled, the Dr. Responded with "ok but we will not do it any other way" Knowing that delaying any procedure would make the animal worse, we were then told to simply take our animal back. They wouldn't even do the procedure to get him unblocked. They made us wait for over 30 minutes when a nasty technician handed us back our pet.

We immediately drove to another hospital where we hope there is time to save his life. We are distraught and angry at this even after forgiving this place for giving us our ID along with someone else bill and credit card. Do not bring your beloved pets here!

Unfortunately we put our dog down last night in the middle of the night. The emergency hospital was caring, quick in response, kind, knowledgeable and incredibly understanding. They gave him pain med and listened to our needs and explained everything to us. Dr Kramer was amazing and there for us in every way. We know that we had no other choice. Thanks to the team for making a difficult process handleable. RIP Spencer 1/15/22

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Terrible communication, long wait hours without any empathy, and scam artists! We were told by the emergency room vet who called at 6:30am to tell us to come in for an appointment at 8:30am. 2.5 hours later waiting in the parking lot for the doctor to just call us on the phone. He had little regard for us waiting and could care less.

The particular internal medicine doctor we spoke with had terrible bedside manner and little regard for our opinion or for explaining other options. Do not bring your pet here!

OMG.Run run run. Fascinating this place is still operating. All reviews I have read are soooo true. My story too long to explain but after 1 surgery and poor prognosis unless I proceeded with another surgery, I took matters into my own hands and my cat is healed and doing very well. I am quite confident many services they billed and claimed to have done were actually never done.

Rarely return phone calls after surgery was completed and after he was discharged for a second time but I will not get into that. They got their money that is all that matters. I guess I have to give 1 star to be fair there were some assistants and aides that actually seemed to care for the animals.

175 for like 15 minutes to see the dr. That's kinda ridiculous. I understand I'm paying for the skill of the vet and not just the time. But it's still pretty crazy. Staff was nice enough. They were super busy and I just kinda felt like I was rushed through. I don't live nearby so hopefully I don't have to go back. But my regular vet trusted them when my dog potentially needed knee surgery and I trust my vet. So I guess if I had to go back, I would.

Atrocious. We will never be back to this clinic, and never refer to this clinic. We understand you are short staffed and stressed, even if that means us waiting in the car for 8 hours to hear anything about our critical situation. No one here cares about the families, or truly, the animals. Just the money and ensuring you don't leave the parking lot.

You are here to care for animals. Not build a larger facility to care less and charge more. Stay away. Even on phone calls you are treated with no professionalism and are disrespected. People come here in dire need of your help for their babies, then you scam them $3500 for one night. Makes me sick.

I will never, ever bring my dog back to them again! The Internal Medicine Specialist was beyond rude, obnoxious, demeaning, unprofessional and the most uncaring doctor I have ever spoken to. My dog has many underlying diseases which he knew about because I brought my dog there in August to advise me on his diabetes. He sounded thoroughly annoyed that I was there and actually said to me that you're 12 year old dog has many issues and what do you expect me to do for you in a half an hour?

I left there 3 hours later with not one bit of helpful information and in tears! This was after calling him for one week straight and never receiving a phone call back. I was beyond upset and disappointed with my experience there & how unprofessional and rude a doctor could be. I never had this experience at LIVS and I would highly recommend anyone living in Suffolk County to take the ride over there if needed. I would have given this facility a zero but this page wouldn't let me!

Just before christmas my 2-1/2 yr old dog was found to have mas on kidney from my vet in mattituck. they arranged me an appt the next day and staff was able to see and operate on him removing a grapefruit sized mass on his kidney. the rapid efforts of staff, from consult to post surgery was incredible. every question was asked, answered, and was constantly updated. could not have asked for better team under circumstances

I just can't say enough about the care our Zoey has received here. Today, Zoey had oral surgery performed by Dr. Carmichael due to chronic gum infections, Dr Carmichael discovered a very rare condition, a cyst that affected 5 of her upper teeth and her sinuses. He removed the cyst, the affected teeth, and Zoey is finally on her road to recovery and pain free eating.

A huge shout out to Dr Carmichael, and his assistant Alex, for their expertise, care, and compassion in treating our Zoey, and also the professionalism of all the staff we dealt with at VMCLI. 5,0000 STARS and a huge thank you from Zoey!

Have been here before but unfortunately that time my cat didn't make it back home. His care was excellent and that was the case this time. My kitten swallowed a big piece of yarn. The staff understood that it was a time sensitive issue and she was taken in very quickly. Dr Dana knew exactly what to do and I was so relieved to see the whole hunk of yarn in the plastic bag and to take her home that night. She did great. Im very grateful a place like VCMLI exists reasonably near me.

The support staff are lacking- they are clearly understaffed and I'd like to think they're doing the best they can. I had a poor experience with the billing procedures. I was given someone else's license and credit card. I was so distraught over the health of my pet that I just threw them in my purse. Luckily I looked soon after because I had someone else's credit card and license. BUT.

The medical staff are incredible. My dog had eye surgery and, when I took her back for her follow up, it was determined that her overall health was too poor to heal her eye and she was in danger of needing to have both eyes removed. Dr. LaCroix was so kind and professional. She and her assistants were so calm and supportive throughout this experience.

They gave me all the time I wanted with my sweet girl. They helped me know I made the best decision I could to honor her and preserve the quality of life she had left. Highly recommend Dr. LaCroix and then medical staff.

Very professional communication and service by the staff and veterinarian. It was a little tricky, as due to Covid19, owners must stay in their cars while pets are taken inside. However, the staff, as well as the vet, came out many times with updates, questions, etc, as necessary. I felt like the staff/vet cared about my pet and were great about explaining all options.

I took my dog at night on a Saturday, in an emergency situation. He was taken in right way, treated appropriately and was able to go home that night. Very good experience all around! I took off one star because I did think that $500 for x-rays was a little excessive. However, because it was emergent, and after normal hours, I was anticipating things costing a little more than at the normal vet office.

My dog received excellent care at this facility. The cardiologist even waited to see him since i had called ahead. it was a huge relief to know his heart was okay. The ER doctor who treated him kept me updated and i was very grateful. Everyone i encountered was courteous and helpful. I saw my dog being treated very kindly. My dog has been improving continuously since our visit and i am very pleased.

Our sweet beagle had to be put down yesterday. Although I didn't care for the check in and wait process, l I have great respect for how Dr Barone handled our families wishes as we said goodbye. She carefully and thoughtfully explained the presenting problems and outlined the choices we had. She answered any and all questions and then helped create a calm peaceful goodbye for us. Thank you for your expertise and kindness Dr Georgina Barone.

The worst place ever! we brought our cat in because he wasnt eating and had a fever, they ran tests etc. NORMAL places test results are back in 2-3 days well it is a week and a half later and i am being told there is a delay in the results, after a bill of nearly 10K the cat had to be put to sleep while waiting for the results he was dying in front of us!

They obviously were negligent in his treatment or they lost his samples. Do yourself a favor DO NOT go here, they dont return phone calls they dont care about anything except your money!

The doctors are great but the prices are really high and the customer service is atrocious. I keep calling them to follow up about my dogs condition and medications but I never get a call back. It's been a whole month! For the money I paid (over $4K), I'd expect a little more communication.

Do not recommend coming here at all, for how expensive it is it's not worth it. When I first got there they told me it should take about four hours to do blood work on my dog. I was there for 9 hours and they don't let you in you have to stay in your car. The doctor only called me twice about my dog and told me She was "tired and weak" meanwhile she can't even walk and she's shaking and panting and hasn't ate.

They wanted 5,000 to do an x ray on her and 1800 just for the medications they gave her and blood work. They do not communicate with you at all while waiting and were very rude towards the end of the night. I would give zero stars.

I brought my 13 year old cat here for chemotherapy between January and April 2020 after he was diagnosed with lymphoma and had a large mass in his ear. At first things seemed to go well and looked positive and the mass went away. Dr. Brodsky continued to treat my cat and the entire time his weight was dropping consistently and he began looking worse and worse.

He began going outside the litter box and my concerns were brushed off by Dr. Brodsky as "behavioral" and not connected to treatments. My concerns about blood in his urine were brushed off. I frequently heard the staff laughing and joking behind the door and discussing vacations and skiing trips while they were supposed to be treating my cat. I was told that these treatments would become less frequent over time.

Instead the opposite happened and i was asked to bring him in more and more often. I sank somewhere in the range of $6000 in this place. The last time I brought my cat here before he passed he was without exaggeration one foot in the grave and they treated him anyway and took my money when they should have done nothing at all. I last heard from Dr Brodsky the day my cat passed because he was calling me with test results.

At that point it made no difference, and he knew it. I hope nobody else falls into this money pit trap. They know you are vulnerable. Think twice before choosing chemotherapy.

This review is about the "support staff"- and I use that word reluctantly. Pulled up with a friend who is very nervous about her dog (as everyone who comes here is). From the "greeter" to the women who came to the cat to get information, NO ONE so much as said hello or smiled. Rude, cold, and callous, these people should be fired. Where is the compassion?

Then I saw a vet tech literally drag a little dog on the pavement across the parking lot. He was terrified and she practically choked him. He was a dog from ARF and was put back in the ARF van only after almost getting loose. Why not put him in the carrier inside the building to avoid the danger and stress? We are so disgusted with the treatment of the animals, we are leaving. No vet is worth this. You can't even go in, so imagine what happens behind closed doors. Devastating. Shame on these people. Go anywhere else!

I will never let this place touch one of my pets again. I just put down my second guinea pig here and the careless handling of him and flippant attitude of employees is so demeaning. I wish I had just taken him home. Either he would have fallen asleep in his own room with his brother for good or I would have taken him to Jefferson Animal Hospital the next morning to do the same thing.

When they gave him back to me to say goodbye, he had two casts on, and the bare limbs both had horrific wounds on them. Why? I'll never let this shithole put one of my angels down ever again. They don't care about your pet or you. Just money. I don't know why I didn't learn my lesson the first time because a large portion of my grief right now is stemmed from the guilt of choosing this place to put my boy to sleep. Don't. Do it. Here.

I have been bringing my dogs here since 2017. First to Dr. Fondacaro in internal medicine, then in later years to Dr. Barone in neurology and Dr. Short in the surgery department. I can tell you that I wouldn't bring my dogs any place else. One of my dogs had back surgery last year with Dr. Barone. She made a really stressful situation less so by walking me through each step.

The care and compassion shown to my pups during their visits by all staff involved is something I won't soon forget. The staff treats your animal like one of their own. I'm so thankful to have a place I can feel comfortable taking my dogs to for specialty care. Thank you, VMCLI, for all you've done for Herbie and Hailey Belle.

NEVER AGAIN! One if our cats injured himself. We took him to this place because we didn't have a lot of options at 1am. We were told that he had a prolapsed rectum and made it sound like he wouldnt have a good quality of life and there could be complications from the surgery etc. They basically talked us into putting our almost 3 year old baby down.

We thankfully got a call from the owner of Tender Loving Cats (the rescue organization we adopted him and his brother from) just as we were just pulling back into the parking lot of this death trap and she told us absolutely not. She had us tell this place to just keep him on fluids, and antibiotics and first thing in the morning take him to another place that she referred us to.

In the morning when we went to pick our baby up, they changed the diagnosis to a ruptured anal gland. Neither of their diagnosis were correct at all. He needed a little surgery to repair a torn muscle in his anus. WE ALMOST PUT OUR BABY DOWN BECAUSE OF THEIR IGNORANCE! PLEASE DON'T TAKE YOUR ANIMALS THERE!

I would like to preface this by saying that I hate to be negative, and rarely leave anything less than a glowing review. However my experience at VMCLI left me so heartbroken and distraught, I felt compelled to share, in the hopes that other pet owners do not have to experience what we went through. I've provided a detailed account of our experience below but in a nutshell- after putting our dog down, we were completely forgotten about and left to wait in the parking lot for over an hour and a half, for our memorial paw print which we never received, leaving empty handed and even more devastated.

We visited VMCLI Islip this past week, and unfortunately had to put our beloved dog Buddy to rest, as we learned he was suffering from pancreatic cancer that had metastasized and spread to his liver. Of course, this is incredibly difficult news for anyone to hear, and like many other dog owners, we were understandably devastated. Before we put our dear Buddy to rest, we of course handled all of the pre procedure paperwork and arrangements.

We had opted for a group cremation and a paw imprint. We did all of this beforehand- so we could go home to grieve soon afterwards. When we informed the staff member that we would like the paw print, they informed us that we would have to wait in the parking lot for a few more minutes after the fact until it was ready, which we agreed to. After Buddy had passed, we went back to our car and began our grieving process as we waited for the paw print to be delivered to us.

After 30 minutes, no one had approached us. After about 45 minutes my partner approached multiple staff members to inquire as to when we would receive the paw print so we could head home. They both told us it would be out in a few minutes. 20 minutes later, a woman approached our car. When we rolled down our window she asked " hi! Who is your pet?" to which my partner responded "his name was buddy." to which she responded "and what is Buddy here for today?" and we had to again explain that he was put down and we were just waiting on the paw imprint.

She half heartedly apologized and said his paw print would be out soon. Cut to 30 minutes later (a full hour and a half after our dog passed) another staff member came out to our car and asked why we were there. Again, we had to explain why. At which point he said- "you can't pick that up today you'll have to follow up with the crematorium and pick it up at a later date".

They had completely forgotten about us for an hour and a half in the parking lot after our dog died- despite multiple attempts to connect with the staff. I left devastated, without anything to remember my beloved buddy with. This facility made one of our worst days even more difficult. My heart goes out to anyone else who has had a negative experience with this practice, and I urge others to avoid it at all costs. Losing a dog can be like losing a family member, and you and your pet deserve a far superior standard of care. Thanks for reading, and I wish you and your pet all the best.

My cat had 3 seizures back to back last year. (She never had any health problems prior) I bought a pine plug in diffuser the day prior to her seizures and I'm pretty sure that is what caused them. (I'll never know for sure but I'm almost positive. Dr. Barone laughed at the idea that it was the diffuser and told me no, she most likely had a brain tumor.

She also said cats her age can not develop epilepsy. (Which is also not true) I was told my cat had 2 months or less to live. When giving her an eye exam she said she was losing her eyesight fast in one eye and will probably be completely blind soon in both eyes. My cat stayed overnight for 2 nights. They hardly answered the phone & if they did I was put on hold for 30+ minutes.

They over drugged her during her stay. When she got home she was falling over for two days straight and couldn't even stand (Not normal when starting this medication) I had to start giving her medication 5x a day. I spent THOUSANDS of dollars there. Nobody ever called to checked on us for any follow up. My cat started have severe side effects from her medication a couple of months later.

When I called Dr. Barone she acted like I was bothering her and actually said I should think "about doing the humane thing and put "the cat down" She said it was "the cats health condition" and not side effects. Well I started weaning her off the meds in March and she was completely off her meds since September. (She has not had 1 seizure since the original seizures last year.) She is doing AMAZING! (No thanks to anyone at VMCLI!) She's not blind at all, and she couldn't be happier. I will never go back here!

Took my 15 year old dog there after my own vet recommended a veterinary cardiologist to remove fluid and do echocardiogram. They took my dog in & triaged him. They decided to sedate him and do x-rays and found a large tumor. The cardiologist never saw him because they never notified him to do the echo. The vet wanted to just put him down and was trying to convince me to euthanize him!

They got me very scared and upset telling me he would probably die in the car on the way home if I took him home AMA. Due to COVID I couldn't go in with him or stay with him. I was definitely NOT going to leave him there. I brought him home and after the sedation wore off he was acting like his usual self. He is still eating, drinking, going to the bathroom normally, walking around and playing with his toys.

He's slower than he used to be because of his age but is still happy and loving as he has always been. He doesn't show any signs of pain and if he does I will bring him back to my regular vet for evaluation, not back to them. When it is his time to go I want to be with him to comfort and love him as I always have. I am horrified that they just wanted to dispose of him as if his life didn't matter.

I was so surprised to see how many bad reviews were on here. This place saved my dogs life! We brought her in late one night and they took her in right away and within two hours she was diagnosed and treatment was started. Each morning our dog was in the hospital Dr. fondacaro updated us with how she was doing and was very knowledgeable about everything and knew exactly what he was doing.

The one downside was if we tried to call for an update at night they were always busy, but we figured no news is good news. Yes it's pricey but our dog got the best care and was worth every penny. Thank you so much vmcli for saving our fur babies life!!

Do not bring your pet here. Danielle Hein tried to charge $7,000 for my dog to be treated, knowing that there was no hope for him. She refused our requests for a MRI, until we said we would look for a second opinion. At that time, she admitted that she had already done the requested MRI, and told us there was a blockage. Our trusted vet informed us of the severity or his sickness, and that there was no treatment with a desirable outcome. Danielle Hein was willing to prolong my dog's pain and suffering for the right price. I do not believe she is the only one at fault in this establishment. They are absolute predators, and should have their license revoked.

Dr. Carver is an amazing surgeon. My baby is high risk due to his liver shunts and he has survived and thrived after both surgeries he has undergone with her. I wouldn't trust his life with anyone else! He recently had a urethrostomy and is doing amazing. Dr. Hillock is his internal medicine dr. And is very knowledgeable about my pups condition. I owe his life to both of these drs.

Could not thank them enough!! Also wanted to shout out Dr. zonenshine who was working with dr. Carver during his last surgery and was always so sweet and amazing with any questions i would call with! Big thanks!

During the pandemic, we wound up with a shelter's orphaned kittens, and one distressed first-time foster parent. VMCLI has a great setup for the pandemic, and three people came out to our car and helped in our unique situation. Everyone was very helpful and sensitive about our unusual situation, and sent us home with kittens who were, for the first time, eating. It really resolved the issues plaguing us all week. Amazing.

I was referred here by my vet when my cat was in heart failure. Very hectic place. Very busy. BUT they took my cat in right away and started treatment. Oxygen. Lasix. Everyone was nice and caring and very informative. They kept her for two nights. Keeping me updated the whole time. I just took her home today. Her lungs are clear and her breathing is so much better. I have no complaints. Was it expensive? Yes. But if you want good care for your pets that's part of the deal. I would highly recommend them.

If I could give this place no stars I absolutely would. I call to make an appointment with an internal medicine vet for my dog that is suffering with chronic coughs. I spoke with A woman at the front desk that was extremely rude and unprofessional. after explaining to her that my vet referred me to their clinic to make an appointment, she continued to question me and ask what exactly I was calling for.

Then when I called her out on being unpleasant to speak with she continued to have an attitude and told me that she's multitasking. She refused to give her name when I asked for it and told me that she's not giving me an attitude. It's unfortunate that they lost out on A patient that really could've use the doctors but I refuse to take my dog somewhere where I don't feel comfortable with the staff.

This is a disgusting representation of their clinic and they should really rethink the people they put at the front desk. I know that I'm not the first person that has had a bad experience with this woman.

Initially impressed but first impressions can be deceiving. Front desk staff were outright rude. The staff is so busy that they are unable to be sympathetic because that takes time which they do not have. The internist seemed knowledgeable and he discussed my dog's condition with my daughter, over the phone, and when I went to pick up my pooch, he would not even meet with me 'because he had already talked to my daughter'.

I was told my dog needs surgery, which I already knew from two vets ago and which was the reason I went there. Before surgery could be scheduled, they said, that I had to meet with the surgeon and pay a consult fee -- I had already paid $185 for the internist (plus $450 for the ultrasound) and now they wanted an additional $185 although the only reason I went was because I was referred to them for surgery. The place struck me like a slaughterhouse waiting to suck all the money they could out of the pain and suffering of those who have to deal with a sick pet. Never again!

I want to thank every person that was working at VMCLI last night. Our boy Beau was brought in for emergency surgery and although he did not make it we are grateful for everything they did for my family and I. Dr Kim was amazing, he was patient and made sure we were aware of exactly what was going on during our time of sorrow and every staff member was extremely nice caring. I know that they did everything they could because they genuinely care.

We brought our 10 1/2 year old Chihuahua here after him having a few seizures one morning and found out that he had a mass in his stomach and had to be put down. They were the most passionate caring staff they let all my boys come to say goodbye and also my other dog and put us in a private room and let us spend hours with him. Never bothering us it was so nice to have that time with him and for all of us to be in the room when he passed. Thank You and God Bless you all.

Unfortunately I have had two medical emergencies that required a trip to VMCLI in the middle of the night. Fortunately this place is amazing. The front desk, the techs and the docs are all wonderful. They are pleasant, keep you informed and don't push procedures that are not necessary. Last night I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Danielle Hein. She was sweet ,reassuring and spent time to answer all my questions. And frankly I would have paid more at my Vet than I did for an emergency visit. Thank you. Bella was In excellent hands!!
