We made the tough decision to have our pet euthanatized and contacted Suffern Animal Hospital. I had no previous experience whatsoever with this Animal Hospital and was a little apprehensive based on their star rating. I could not have had a better experience than having gone to Suffern Animal Hospital for such a sad event. From Customer Service over the phone through the entire process I can not say enough good things about the employees here. Everyone was extremely caring, informative and beyond respectful. I whole heartedly recommend this Animal Hospital based upon our experience. Thank you Suffern Animal Hospital for your sensitivity and care you showed helping us pass our Annie on to greener pastures and forever meadows.

It was my first visit to Suffern animal hospital. My dog was greeted by the Vet tech Melody who was loving and sweet to my Sadie. She listened to all my concerns as she was petting and getting to know my pet. Dr. Aden examined my dog thoroughly while genuinely giving her loving attention. She was informative, knowledgeable, patient and kind.
I'm so happy I found this practice to care for my Sadie.

Very disappointed in how the euthanasia was handled with my 18 year old dog. After waiting around 30 minutes (past our appt time) we were brought into the room, where the relief vet then told us that she would place an IV catheter prior to euthanasia to make the process less stressful. My dog was in the back for at least 20 minutes, and we could hear him screaming while the catheter was being placed.
The vet lied to our faces, saying that he wasn't the one crying.we were the only appt in the building. After this ordeal, the vet came back to tell us that she needed to sedate our dog, because they were unable to handle him during the procedure. Fine, I understand that. Another 20 minutes goes by while we wait for the catheter to be placed. Finally, the technician brings my heavily sedated dog into the room, and when I asked what took so long, the vet made a snarky comment at me that it didn't take THAT long to place the catheter.
Before we could even grasp what was happening, they vet started performing the euthanasia. She pushed the solution so fast, that my dog basically died in 3 seconds - not peaceful at all. Without apologizing for our loss, the vet said that when we were done, we could leave. I questioned her, as I felt uncomfortable leaving my beloved family member's body in the room alone.
She said that I could ask the front desk to "deal with that." After the vet left, I verbalized to the technician about how horrible this experience has been. Their response: they are short staffed and down a doctor. I am a veterinarian In the field - I know how short staffed and stressful this time can be, but I have ZERO tolerance for a lack of compassion.
My family had been going to Suffern Animal Hospital since the 90's. I can honestly say, I am so disappointed in how we were treated and how my pet was treated in his final moments. My family will never be returning to this hospital. I am mortified on how downhill it has gone since Dr. French sold it.

Our kitty was having issues recovering from dental surgery that Suffern Animal Hospital performed in July 2021. We brought her back in repeatedly since then, as she wasn't able to eat, and we were told her swollen node/hard lump in her neck was "normal." Taking her in for visits seemed futile as she was only getting worse. After switching vets earlier this month, the new vet examined her and saw something alarming in her mouth.
After a biopsy, turns out she had cancer in her mouth and had already spread to her jaw. We just said goodbye to her on Wednesday. I feel Suffern Animal Hospital let us down hard.

We had been going to Airmont Animal Hospital for years. First with our two previous dogs and now with our current two. We needed a refill for ear medication for one of the dogs. Something we'd gotten there for years. They no longer carry that medication and gave us an ear wash which didn't help, although we've used the wash in the past. i called yesterday to get a script for the med they no longer carry so we could get it elsewhere.
Three calls later no one called me back and I was finally told that we would have to bring the dog in. This is a repeat issue with the dog so I don't need the cost of an office visit plus culture for a refill of a med. 20+ year client and they didn't bat an eye when I told them I'm leaving because they just wouldn't fill an Rx.

Good care, and will usually get you in same day if you really need it, friendly but never cheap. My dogs last ear infection cost well over $400. Twice previous, I brought my dog there and had to pay for nothing because she(thedog) wouldn't let the vet people look at the issue. And time before that I had to pay $150 when the dog stepped on a piece of small glass and I couldn't tell if it was still in her paw, just for them to tell me they can't tell either and to come back if it doesn't get better. You can expect to pay $150 no matter what and at least. It is my personal opinion that it should be cheaper, if no care is given or help provided.

Overall, I've had very nice experiences with Suffern Animal Hospital. We have been taking our lab shepherd to Dr. Sakolsky for three years now -- and it's a great comfort (and pleasure) to visit with a veterinarian who genuinely loves animals. She is always so loving with our dog, clearly explains costs to me ahead of time, and is very down to earth about what is and isn't necessary (vs. other vets who keep telling you you need x, y, z just to make more money). As a specific example, two years ago an X-ray showed our dog had a partial tear to her ACL. Dr. S said surgery would fix it, and quoted $5,000. Based on our dog's behavior, I believed she could be rehabbed at home with rest and anti inflammatory meds. Dr. S didn't push or guilt me about the surgery and agreed it was definitely worth a shot to try rest and meds. And it worked! We saved a bundle and spared our girl an ultimately unnecessary surgery. But what I appreciated most was that I got an honest opinion and not a guilt trip to get more money. I recommend Dr. Sakolsky 10/10.

It's sad Dr. French is no longer there. I have tried for the last year to get my Dog Stella seen in times when she wasn't doing well, she is 16 and has had an array of issues (but bounces back thank gosh ), but still, every time I call I am told the soonest appt isn't for a month and /or can't reach them at all because they have a voice message saying "they're in a meeting and to call back ". It's sad. Switching offices as of today.

After 30 years of patronage we are leaving this practice. If a vet is unable to see you when you have an emergency they are useless as a medical practitioner. This place has gone down hill drastically in the last couple of years. Was told they couldnt see our dog who was scratching so bad his face was bleeding. Do yourself a favor and find yourself a vet that is reliable in an emergency.
