Our GSD, Hunter, is post-op 2 weeks from TPOL surgery and we are very happy with the success of this surgery. He never appeared to be in alot of pain and he is healing very well. We followed the post-op instructions and had eyes on our dog 99% of the time, even sleeping with him nearby! This is an intense post-op commitment, as expected, and you have to be prepared to follow through as if it was a human family member. We are pleased so far with the outcome and the staff is very thorough when answering questions. Thank you so much!

Disappointing customer service. More concerned with blaming others and getting paid than accepting responsibility for joint communication failure that did not involve us, the client, to the detriment of our beloved pet. As a member of the customer service industry, I appreciate that people can get defensive and emotions can run high. But the end result should be moving forward to resolution, not creating more conflict or "running away." Transitioning elsewhere. Also noting that prior negative comments have been met with extreme defensiveness and deflection which really just underscores the reason why we are transitioning.

I took my dog in two years ago based on their TPLO ad. 1. The charges for TPLO was far beyond their 2450 stated. ( Another review explained this in detail) 2. I was offered lateral suture by Dr. Woods. We were explained that the procedure would be equally effective as TPLO and less invasive for my pup with 90% success rate. We ended up paying over 3200 for the procedure and all the pre and post work.
Which we were fine but the problem was here. The procedure FAILED and this is what troubled us the most. a) my dog needed TPLO because of his luxating patella. Lack of proper diagnosis by Dr.woods resulted in this failure. While we were blamed for lack of proper care. b) after surgery failed we were offered a 600 discount to repeat same surgery when a board certified surgeon would NEVER do lateral suture in the first place.
Especially after opening up. My suggestion: while the staff is kind and courteous. Please take your pup to experts when it comes to serious injuries such as ACL tear. Two other Vets didn't understand the underlying issue until two years later, many pain meds, debilitating arthritis and us debating to repeat procedure or say goodbye. My painful lesson: You don't have your own ACL tear diagnosed and fixed by your general doctor and you shouldn't for your dog as well.

We can't say enough good things about Cardiff Abimal Hospital. As owners of a rescue pitty, we first brought him here to see Dr. Woods for a tplo surgery. He's like a brand new dog! He can jump, run and play like never before and so happy to see he's not in constant pain. She was amazing! We were so impressed that we continue to bring our dog here for wverything- and he has a host of issues. He loves the staff and is always happy to see them! 100% worth the drive from San Diego everything. Easy to get an appointment and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Maui and I have been coming here for close to 3 years now. The vet is obviously a stressful experience for most dogs and the entire staff does a great job making Maui feel super comfortable. From foxtails up noses to quick allergy shots.they can always squeeze time in to see my girl! Dr. Woods is fantastic and very knowledgeable. I have recommended my local friends to take their pets here! Great service all around and its nice to be able to see the ocean from the waiting room :

I work in the veterinary industry. In fact, I run a business that works directly with about 400 veterinary practices. I also love my two little dogs like family. So needless to say - I'm very choosy about who cares for them. I asked highly respected vets who the best in the area is - and that's how I found Dr. Woods and Cardiff Animal Hospital. My dog was diagnosed with a very serious acute condition this week.
Thanks to the team at Cardiff, he is now back home, in recovery, and I couldn't be more grateful. They check all the boxes for what I look for: incredibly smart, unapologetically passionate, and uncommonly meticulous. This is truly gold-standard medicine. So, take it from me, if you love your pets like family, don't think twice. I trust them completely, and you should too.

I was astounded with the loving caring way my Kitty Josh was treated at Cardiff last Tuesday 12/27. The entire staff was so committed to Josh's well being. Dr. Ingram was exceptional in helping me in a moment of deep crisis to make decisions with her caring and time spent to help me understand my options and what was happening. On a busy day in a holiday week I felt nothing but heard, cared for, supported and yes loved.
I felt Josh experienced the same. It is extraordinary in this day and age to experience a business that is so committed such deep levels of care and caring while diagnosing and treating their 4 legged patients and their 2 legged owners. The entire staff was compassionate and present to supporting me and supporting Josh in a most challenging time. On Tuesday I awoke to a deep yowl from Josh Kitty.
He had lost the use of his back legs. Figuring it was a pinched nerve we went to our vet. Turns out our vet was out of town. So we went home with some CBD hoping that would relax the pinched nerve. A couple of hours later I noticed Josh's back toes were purple. A Google search brought me to Cardiff, they were open and they were taking "walk ins without an appointment".
From the moment Josh & I arrived we were treated with respect, compassion, support and yes love. They took Josh in. Not too long afterwards I received a call from Dr. Ingram. Saddle Thrombus, every cat owners worst nightmare. Anyone who has gone through this knows what is coming and what this means. His condition was guarded. There was an estimate of cost for treatment with hope he would get function back in his legs.
I am so impressed with how Dr. Ingram described what was happening with Josh, what were our options in very clear language so I could understand and make decisions. She was warm, professional, knowledgeable, comforting, compassionate as I was processing all she was telling me. She took time to answer my questions. I felt such gratitude because I was in shock and trying hard to integrate all I was being told.
I needed time to process and see how I could raise the funds. When I called Dr. Ingram back to tell her let's go ahead with the treatment she was gentle, kind, caring as she told me that Josh was in a position where it was not likely he would get use of his legs back since so much time had passed. Each of my optimistic questions was answered with patience, love and compassion as I started to realize what was actually being said and that Josh would need to be put to sleep that day.
She took time with each call. I never felt rushed. What a gift! During COVID we can't be with our fur babies when they pass. They brought Josh out, said go and give him some loving, kisses and hold him tight. We went to the beach. And I let go. When I took him back to Cardiff I was met by staff with tears in their eyes as if it was their own pet. They made sure I was ready.
They assured me he would pass with peace knowing he was loved with a roomful of loving staff and people who had been loving on him all day. It is one thing to be with vet hospital when things are treatable. It is another when the hospital and staff know this how this is going to end and they know that their client has not yet realized that ending.
And it is 5:30p, and they close at 6p after a busy day and another fur baby that had to pass. I am a writer and I share my story so you perhaps can get a glimpse into what kind of Business Cardiff Animal Hospital is. And when you need to choose a vet, you perhaps will consider bringing your trust and your fur baby to this amazing, compassionate staff with amazing compassionate, talented doctors. I cannot recommend them enough!

I found a HUGE tennis ball sized lump on my dog Ravioli's throat area and was freaking out and our old vet that we went to in Carmel Valley when we lived there couldn't get us in so I called Cardiff Animal Hospital and they got us in a whole day quicker. They are right down the street from us and thankfully are an incredible practice. Ravioli had to get surgery ASAP and Dr. Woods is one of the top surgeons (multiple people told me this) in San Diego plus in an act of fate his nurse Maddie from our old vet that had been with him since he was a baby moved up to Cardiff.
I am beyond grateful that somehow we were able to have Maddie with him the entire time- she texted me updates constantly and treated him like her own dog. The whole staff loved on him and made sure he was comfortable. It was a traumatic experience to say the least (thankfully not cancer!) and this animal hospital has done a great job. He had complications from his surgery (a month after he scratched it and split the whole thing open again!) and they have REALLY taken care of us. I'm so grateful!

I'll start off saying that I did not receive services form Cardiff Animal Hospital. I had one bad experience, but this is not a blanket statement about the business in general. I took my dog to Cardiff Animal Hospital because of what I read on their website. Their website states that their TPLO surgery All-inclusive Pricing is ($2450). To me, this means that all things for the TPLO surgery add up to $2450.
It also states that "Advanced pain management (intra and post-operative), including laser therapy" and "Post-operative recheck exam and x-rays." are included in the price. With this said, we got our estimate after taking our dog there to be examined and it added up to $3122. Here are the cost adders: Nocita injection $340.90, Radiographs, Stifles, 2-Views $233.48, Lift Sling $33.39, Protective Boot $32.30, E-Collar $13.32, Bio Waste Disposal $6.10, Controlled substance handling fee $9.74.
I wrote an email to Dr. Woods explaining the ambiguity on their website. She called to explain why she uses the term "All Inclusive." Her reasoning was because she has clients that have had this surgery before and they already have the sling, boot, and E-collar. She doesn't want to include them in the "All Inclusive" price. The shot of Nocita is a wonder drug according to Dr. Woods.
Other vets say that the pain med Nocita works so well on pets that it is inhumane not to use it. Dr. Woods doesn't include this in her "All Inclusive" price because some of her clients can't afford it and therefore should be an option. I told Dr. Woods that I thought of her wrongful use of the term All-Inclusive was unethical. It is part of a bait and switch tactic that shouldn't be used in her profession. She said that she was sorry that I felt that way. There was so resolution met and we ended the conversation amiably agreeing to disagree.

I have taken two different cats to Dr. Woods - both presenting unique challenges that required the assistance of a skilled and caring vet. In the first case, I had a cat who started peeing all over the house and I worked with Dr. Woods over many months trying different solutions to the problem. While I ended up needing to rehome this cat, Dr. Woods was a great resource and helped me explore all possible avenues to fix the situation.
Our newest cat/kitten ended up being diagnosed with heart disease after an emergency vet visit where he almost died due to fluid build up in his lungs. Dr. Woods and her entire team were really supportive and understanding and went out of their way to get us a meeting with cardiologist and otherwise do everything possible to help our kitten recover from the very serious situation.
Everyone who works at Cardiff Animal Hospital is really kind and friendly and clearly love animals. I am very satisfied with the service I have received and would not hesitate to bring any cat in to see Dr. Woods.

Thank you for fixing my dog! She had CCL surgery (performed by Dr. Woods), nails removed, and a number of ear infections. Dr. Woods and staff (shout-out to Madison) have easily been the best health providers in north county. People at the park who have known me since i got my dog at 3 weeks old remark on how active and happy my dog is after switching to this vet.
I have been to countless vets in north San Diego and they easily provide the best price to quality service you can find. If you love your animal as do I, you will not be displeased.

I had heard that Cardiff Animal Hospital had a change in ownership this past April, so I didn't know what to expect during my first visit with the new doctor and staff, but I was pleasantly surprised! The new vet, Dr. Woods, was fantastic! She was very friendly, and took the time to really listen to my concerns. She was very thorough, and I appreciated that she explained everything so that I really understood her recommendations and plan.
I could tell that she really cared about the well being of Lucy, and even though I couldn't afford to do everything, she seemed to understand and never made me feel bad or guilty about it (as has happen with the previous vets I have taken my pets to). The staff was also incredibly friendly and helpful, from the moment we walked in the door! They even called the next day to make sure that Lucy was doing better, and to ask if I had any questions. I wish I had met Dr. Woods many years ago with my last two dogs, but at least I know now that my dog Lucy is in good hands!
