Squirt the sand boa is my first snake and I wanted to be very careful in finding a good vet place that can be a go-to, especially one with good exotic care. I'm glad I found this place because they were very friendly, warm, and I had good advice from the vet I saw. This was mostly a check-up but initially he wasn't eaten in a bit so I wanted some help. I also had to reschedule a couple of times and they were helpful with that. I booked the appt and went and I was informed he was just dehydrated which was a really doable fix! And then after following instructions, he started eating and being active again! Thank you everyone!

My wife and I had a great experience today with Dr. Alexandra Rugg. During our dog's wellness exam, she quickly identified an ear infection and had a cleaning and treatment done within a half hour. She explained how to better care for his ears and teeth, and took the time to answer all of our questions. Most of all, our dog clearly appreciated her bedside manner!

Brought our two pups in for their first wellness checkup and we are extremely satisfied with the staff and Dr. Rugg at Redwood Animal Hospital. All the staff we spoke to and worked with was wonderful. I was a little hesitant about taking our pups here after seeing a couple of recent negative reviews on Yelp for Redwood Animal Hospital but didn't experience anything negative that would raise any red flags.
I could tell Dr. Rugg really cared about our two puppies and is very personable and knowledgeable. She answered all our questions and was thorough. My pups were very relaxed throughout the examination, and it also put me at ease to see the interaction and time taken to evaluate. She even went through the extra effort of showing us how to clean our pups ears and gave us some pointers on maintenance hair trimming.
If you are looking for a friendly, positive, and professional vet, do yourself a favor and try Redwood Animal Hospital

We switched to your practice because of our growing dissatisfaction with our prior vet., and we've greatly appreciated the improved care our elderly dog is receiving, including the closer attention, thorough explanations, and overall level of competency.

My 12 year old chihuahua needed a refill for incontinence and they would not refill because it was nearing a year since I had last seen them. My sweet chihuahua was eating normal, walking, climbing up and down stairs, nothing concerning other than her leaking. I scheduled a yearly exam so that I could then be given the prescription for her incontinence medication.

I took her on Tuesday, after the exam they recommended she get her Rabies and Distemper shots. My chihuahua was all of a sudden lethargic and I assumed it was because of the shots, on Thursday I decided to take her to emergency and they told me she had congestive heart failure and most likely due to the visit and/or the shots being too much for her and I lost my baby that day.

Two days after being seen by this Hospital! I do not understand why Redwood Hospital knowing my dog was 12 years old would recommend me giving my dog shots and not once mentioning that it might be too much for a senior dog. I want to warn other senior dog owners to think twice before giving your dog these shots or even taking your senior dog to the vet if it will cause them unnecessary stress, especially if the dog is doing fine.

I paid them for a yearly exam and they determined she was fine for the shots, which obviously she wasn't. Not once, did they inform me that the shots might be too much and definitely never mentioned that it might cause my pets death two days later. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

Ive been taking my pet to redwood since my dog was a puppy, they have always given satisfactory care. I'm sadden to give them only a 3 star review. The reason is the low availability lately. This has happen to me about 3 times. My pet needs medical care I call to make an appt and I'm told they don't have availability until two weeks from now. For example, my pet broke his molar chewing a bone, he was in pain, I called to make an appointment, they offered to only see him, not fix the problem, a week later, then when they finally saw him they told me they needed to remove the tooth and the next available appt was a month later, I explain my pet is in pain but they don't make exceptions and refer me to an emergency hospital that will charge me triple the amount.

This makes me feel my pet wont be getting the care he needs WHEN HE NEEDS IT next time he gets I'll. I work in a medical clinic and If someone calls in pain we change the schedule and make it happen so they get the care they need. I guess I was expecting for this to be applied in all medical fields including my vet clinic. Sad to be moving on and looking else where.

Everyone is so helpful and nice! We especially like how quickly we are placed in a room once we get there. Our dog is high strung so having a room separate from any other animals is very appreciated

Excellent patient (pet) care. Great follow up, professionalism and support during our cats care. Dr. Vaid is tremendous and all office/practice staff was caring and kind.

I brought my reactive dog to this place a couple months ago due to a rash. Staff is very poorly trained to deal with dogs like mine, I am pretty sure I'm not the only person with a reactive dog. I thank and appreciate the vet assistant that dealt with me, she was very nice, I do not know if this is their protocol but she went back and forth getting information from me and delivering it to the vet, until I asked her if I was going to be able to speak to the vet directly.

Quite a few minutes later the vet appeared. While I understand her being cautious and not wanting to get too close to my dog, I didn't like that the vet never enter the room and stood by the door way all the time, she asked me to face my dog the opposite direction from her, even though my dog was sedated and had TWO muzzles on him. He got his vaccinations, and we were sent home with some meds.

Almost 3 weeks ago my dog needed to be seen kind of urgently, when I called for an appointment the receptionist told me they had some availability, I asked if they wanted me to give him the sedatives prior to the appointment like the previous time, she asked for my dogs name and then she putted me on hold, when she got back to me I was told they didn't have any openings, interesting how they got fully booked within 2-3 minutes. Sounds for me they pick and choose which animals they treat.

Definitely not going back here. Luckily at Castro Valley Animal hospital they are very understanding and made accommodations to see my dog, the Dr entered the room, spoke to me, explained my dogs problem and treatment, all of this while my dog was in the room sitting and facing the Dr and his assistant Luis who is AMAZING with reactive dogs.

Great service! Techs are always sweet and understanding (even with my problem child) and are super patient with all my questions. Doctors are great and really listen to my pet's issues. They offer multiple solutions and are understanding when owners are cost-conscious. I haven't had a bad encounter at all here, everyone is so nice. I don't dread visits here and I don't ever doubt that my pet is getting the best care possible. Also, love the cat that roams around the place!

Prices are pretty reasonable and for a compact place, they're pretty comprehensive in services offered.

I haven't had a bad encounter here, everyone is so nice. I don't dread visits here and I don't ever doubt that my pet is getting the best care possible. Pretty glad I found this place as a first time pet owner! Also, love the cat that roams around the place!!!

I first came here years ago when my dog nearly died of Parvo, the staff here we're so caring they made a hard time not so bad. Fast forward to today, my son recently got a new fur baby and asked me if I knew of any good Veterinarians. I recommended he come here and he couldn't be happier! They offer puppy packages for new clients, which helps with the costs! He also liked all the precautions they took to keep you and your fur baby safe, especially during these Covid-19 times!
