Animal Hospital At The Crossroads Welcome to the Animal Hospital at the Crossroads: Since 1969, our practice has been serving the Monterey Peninsula area with concern and compassion for our patients and their owners. Our hospital is a full service facility providing diagnostics, care and treatment in all areas of modern small animal medicine, dentistry and surgery. The goal of the doctors and staff at our hospital is to provide quality, dependable and conscientious care for all our patients. We have a full staff available seven days a week for those clients needing boarding services for their pets.
Services
The Animal Hospital at the Crossroads is proud to provide a full compliment of services for animal care from bathing to the availability of veterinary specialists when additional expertise is needed. Our hospital maintains an extensive and complete diagnostic center with the ability to conduct a large variety of tests in a short time.
Life might be a lot easier for pet owners and veterinarians alike if our pets could just talk, especially when something is bothering them. For example, when Kitty comes in with a swollen paw, it would help if she could explain she was just stung by a bee. Instead, we are left with our powers of observation and deductive reasoning to come up with answers to our pets' problems.

How should I start this off, this place is so unprofessional. If I could rate it at 0 stars I would. The veterinarian does not give a crap about you or your pet it's evident that he only does it for the money. Everything is so outdated, dusty and dirty who knows when the last time it's been since the rug or carpet has been cleaned. Jane the receptionist is very childish and also unprofessional.

I heard her talking inappropriately about a younger lady who previously worked there. As a paying client nobody wants to listen to any office drama. However, Jane's demeanor and unprofessionalism is so uncalled for, that woman needs to grow up and act her age. The prices at this hospital are low but you definitely will get what you pay for. If you want your pet to be in good hands I'd suggest that you don't come here for your pet's sake.

This vet is very unprofessional. They do not allow you to go into the rooms, no doctor actually sees the animal, and no exams were given to my dog. I never spoke to a doctor and my dog was not in the back long enough to be seen correctly. No one in the vets office knew what was going on. I will not be taking any animal back to this vet. Nor would I recommend anyone going here.

I would leave ZERO stars if I were able to. This is the second time I've been here and I have not seen a vet yet. It leaves me to wonder if the veterinarian technicians are the ones seeing the animals.

Disappointing. The level of care and engagement is not concurrent with contemporary veterinarians. While the Dr presents himself as an experienced veterinarian, he is not particularly engaging in communicating issues. Nor do his methods present current methods. The use of tests is minimal. He relies of visual observation alone which does not reveal all causes of illness or the seriousness of them. He is competent in basic animal health, but complex issues with a pet would be best served by those versed in more contemporary diagnosis and treatment.

I love this vet clinic so much! They have saved my animals so many times! Today my tiny yorkie was so sick and they fit me in despite a full schedule! Paola was so sweet and understanding about my worries and concerns! Sherry was excellent at calming me down and explained his treatment and meds! The vet here is excellent and they are very fair in their pricing Awesome Caring Professional and Affordable! Best vet in town

We are new in town and I needed to find a VET for my DOG (child) because she had an eye infection. I was really worried I could not get her in to see a doctor. I called the Animal Hospital in the morning and they were so helpful and accommodating. They gave me an appointment with a few hours and I was able to have my DOG seen and treated. I was so grateful. The staff was very welcoming and kind to my DOG "YETI." We will be back again!

Had a really good experience with this vet to remove a deeply embedded foxtail in my dog's paw. The were very nice to squeeze me in when my regular vet wanted me to wait a day and a half, and I was in and out in about 10 minutes with antibiotics at a very reasonable fee. I may have to change vets!

My cat left there after 4 days traumatized and limping. I was charged for an exam and shots - no one gave me the results or told me in advance I needed to do that for boarding. Inept staff, doubt they even did an exam, . Total rip off.

This is by far my favorite vet that I've ever been to! I have tried another in Monterey and this was a great experience, the complete opposite. The vet technicians go the distance and are very professional not only do they answer all the questions you can ask over the phone but also in person. The whole place really takes time and they're so wonderful to my fur babies!

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness If these starts could be negative, this place would be -5 stars. Rude to the point if verbal indecency. A poor excuse for a business. Stay away.

Most awful place to take your animal. My dog had surgery and the doctor didn't even come out and speak with me or anything. The assistant brought my dog out and she didn't know the answer to my questions. 3 hours later i had to bring my dog to the emergency vet clinic in Ryan Ranch for my poor dog was in so much pain and bleeding. I will never bring any animal back to that horrid place.

Went in for my cats first ever vet visit because he had a worrying limp. Everyone there is so caring and sweet! Answered all my questions, will definitely be returning for all my cats vet-needs! I would recommend everyone to come here you will be taken care of.

I bring my elderly clients here for their dogs' needs. The staff is amazing. The vet tech and veterinarian are honest and wonderful. I can't say enough about this place. Top notch animal care.

I wanted so bad to like this vet (went a few times) - but my experience has been borderline awful. Dr. Bishop seems to be going through the motions and Jane, at the front desk, holy smokes, she doesn't seem to care at all about you or your pet. I'm looking for a vet where you feel the love in the office for both your pet and you as a customer - and that's not here.

We bring all three of our dogs here every time they have any issues. This is the only place we will take our dogs The staff has always been very professional, the doctor gives the utmost attention and care to the dogs. After any procedure or visit, they call afterwards to check on my dogs and to see if everything is ok. This is the only Animal Hospital that has given this level of care and detail that I've been to in the past 15 years. The groomers here are the best and the rates are reasonable. They have a very friendly and caring staff. Plus, they keep a huge bowl of chocolate treats for the humans!

I have been going to Animal Hosp. For over 15 years and Dr. Bishop has saved several of our babies, prolonged their lives and generally gives loving and amazing support. I couldn't and wouldn't take my babies to any other vet. The staff is wonderful and I'm so very thankful for their knowledge and compassion.

We have been camping at Riverside Campground in Big Sur for over 20 years. The last 13 has been with our Golden Retriever. This year he took ill and was in distress. We called these people and they were courteous and compassionate on the phone. We took our boy up there to end his pain. They were wonderful. Accommodating, courteous, compassionate and reasonable on cost. Our guy could not have a better place to have it end. I highly recommended this place.

I think everyone should be aware that this clinic has a no kill policy. My Golden Retriever, had terminal bone cancer, had a massive tumor on his front leg. We knew the time was going to come where he would have to be put to sleep, and that's heartbreak enough. I probably was selfish and held on to him too long, that's my fault, but after a full night of him squealing in pain I made the decision to take him in.

They point blank refused to do what was in the best interest of a suffering animal. I had to go to the emergency vet at Ryan Ranch, and the doctor there completely agreed that it was time. She also said she was aware of Dr Bishops policy, and they often are faced with dealing with this type of situation. Look, I get that putting a animal to sleep is a hard thing to do.

I also thought a vets primary concern was to do what's best for the animals they treat. Brody was never going to get better, he was suffering and they would rather keep the cash flowing than do what's right. I will never forget how horrible that day was and the betrayal I felt. I absolutely will never recommend this vet to anyone!

Was thinking about using this clinic for my 3 dogs; it is well located and closer to my home, but when I went in to ask about transferring their prescriptions I was so very rudely treated by a man in green scrubs that I will never ever go there again.

Lizzie off her first foxtail up the nose. Not a fun Saturday My Lizzie just had the best care here! So I don't know what all the neg reviews are about! Who cares about "decor" dumb dumb.it was CLEAN and very very friendly Jane and the ladies were SO KIND and friendly. Lizzie is just shy of a year she is a beabull and she got her first foxtail up the nose.

We are just getting back on our feet from me being out of work. After the VERY RUDE so called vet at Ryan Ranch quoted me $550 and when I was shocked she told me to go elsewhere. After telling her where she could go. I went to the first place I had originally called (my usual vet was closed) The Animal Hospital of the Crossroads were AWESOME! Saw the "lady" doctor who was so helpful and informative! Didn't know my dogs anal glands were blocked (but we had our suspicions).2 hours or less later.

She was good as new they even gave me the foxtail and told me they took care of her glands since she was sedated (which I was fine with). Total $300! And we are happy with that and so is Lizzie. I would recommend this vet to anyone especially in an emergency! Thanks Ladies and gentlemen that brought me Lizzie

Needed to board my pup for one night. Was informed it would cost $26/night, and that he needed Bordatella shots and parvo/distemper shots. Was told they would do the shots for me, but also my pup needed an exam. I opted to take my pup to get the shots at his own vet. They informed me that he would have a bed and some walks, and they would provide food, but I bagged up my pup's own food and instructed them on how to feed him.

They said that if you dropped him off at 2:30 and picked him up by 2:30 that was 2 half days, but that sometimes it doesn't work out for people and they drop them off earlier or pick them up later. I dropped him off at 11:35am, and they assured me that he was in good hands. When I picked him up the next day at 12:30, they charged me for 1.5 days, and when they brought my pup out, he acted like he hadn't seen the outside in days.

He urinated for an inordinate amount of time, leading me to believe that he hadn't been walked AT ALL. When I gave him water he drank water like he hadn't been given water in an entire day. I will NEVER take my dog there again. They don't know what they are doing, and they like to pretend like they care about your animal, but they don't. It may seem like the cheaper option, but they find a way to nickel and dime you about everything.

Played a game of "guess the newest thing in the room" and ended up choosing the dust-covered fake plant in the corner. The technology and overall decor have been outdated for decades. Sun faded big cat pictures from the 80s take up most of the space, and the cabinets are clunky, cracking relics. But it's not just old, it's unprofessional.

Staff is rude and doesn't know how to communicate with humans (but they WERE very friendly to our pup). Every customer who came through had negative staff interactions, the highlight being one woman being overcharged by $200 and then the staff not knowing how to refund her. Someone needs to take a wrecking ball to this place, and replace it with something functional.

Dr. Bishop should retire he is way past his prime! He has nice office staff but he himself is a poor excuse for a vet! Would never recommend him to any one in this county.!

We were camping in Big Sur and our pup wasn't feeling well. This Vet came up first on our search; Yelp had some mixed reviews. Have to say we had a great experience, they were friendly and treated our dog right away. Would definitely use Dr. Bishop again if we're in the area and would absolutely recommend to others.

These idiots are there for the money, not you or your pet. I spent $80 to find out my healthy dog did not have heart worm, then waited and waited that day for them fo fill a script that is commercially available over the counter. The vet visit was not mentioned as part of the fee until afterwards. After leaving without what I came for, dr. bishop refused to ok the rx for pet meds online.

I live over an hour away and my dog is now without the heart guard he needs (this vet had ok'd online rx before) - clearly a decision based on their GREED, not the health of my dog. Rude, stupid people. Low on communication skills. I was bitterly disappointed in how blase they were during the dying process of my last wonderful dog. What kind of vet office has no treats for pets, not even a water dish? I've gone there over the years purely for convenience location wise. NEVER AGAIN.

I've been to this animal hospital twice. Once with our old chow/retriever mix dog who had a painful ear infection and then recently with our Yorkie who was hacking away with what turned out to be simple allergies. Our regular Vet is further away, and I wanted immediate attention, and both times, we were seen right away. With follow-ups by our own vet, I felt that adequate assessment and care was given to both dogs.

I wasn't quite as pleased with the Yorkie's examination at this place, because I didn't feel like the doctor spent much time looking at her and made more of a judgement call based on my description of the kinds of hacking noises she was making. His manner was pretty dismissive. I think he should have gone into a little more detail for me - explaining what he thought the diagnosis could be (I later learned it could be allergies, or a more serious tracheal condition Yorkies can suffer from).

I immediately scheduled a visit with my own vet, who did indeed examine her thoroughly and explained the problem clearly to me to put me at ease! But all-in-all, I cannot complain that my dogs weren't treated correctly here.
