I bought this hospital in 2014 because I believe the people and pets of New Rochelle deserved something new, something special, something powerful. Here, you will find an environment that is much closer to a family feel than a workplace. However, we also believe passionately in the power of cutting-edge science and technology to do amazing things for animal healthcare.
It is deeply important to me that you feel at home here, cared for, and that you have full confidence that your pet is receiving the best medical care available in the industry.

Warm loving vet care. From the moment you walk through the door and meet the receptionist you’re greeted with understanding, respect and care. Your animal becomes a part of a larger animal family. The doctors care for your pet as if it were their own and if one happens to pass (God forbid) they feel your pain just a much as you do. Over the years I’ve brought my daughters ferret who lived beyond normal ferret expectancies I believe in part to the care she received here as well as at home. Her name was GiGi and every time she came in she was treated like a superstar so she became a sweet diva that couldn’t wait for her visits even to the very last one. My Oreo was the same way and as you probably can tell I’ve been with them for a lot of years now they take care of my Freya and my mother’s Shadow and I must say I wouldn’t change one thing. All my animals have lived very long happy lives, even though I wish for longer, many are surprised when I tell them how long so I a very happy animal parent because they are not really pets to us they are family. Thank you to EVERYONE at the New Rochelle Animal Clinic.

The Dr's and staff here are absolutely exceptional. Just recently, and the impetus for this review, is that I had a bit of an urgent situation arise while I was on vacation, and the staff here went beyond and above to care for my golden, Bernie. I've been coming here for years and the quality of care, as well as how exceptional that staff are, means I will never look for another vet again. I can't recommend strongly enough. Also I will mention that this place is very reasonable priced.

Dr. Paul is a great Vet who is a wealth of knowledge and has always done right by my pet & I. Unfortunately the staff, specifically the skinny girl at the front desk is extremely rude. On numerous occasions, today being the most recent. I simply went into drop off a stool sample and leave, as I have in the past yet she made me wait for 10 minutes to drop off a sample with my dogs bae on it, which was spelled incorrectly.
She also had the nerve to roll her eyes when I said "may I please drop off the sample" as she was going to help someone who walked in after me. If you don't like animals or hate your job just quit, instead of making it reflect bad on this business, unfortunately I may have to look for another vet, as I will not tolerate her attitude.

I brought in my 11-week-old kitten who I bottle fed since she was 2 days old. The vet was very nice and seemed to be interested in Hazel. I have been to some vets where they make more of a fuss over how cute and well-behaved the cat is -- it's our pet that we love after all and we all like it to be appreciated -- but that doesn't seem to be his style. Still, I like the place and will keep going.

Dr Schwartzreich is an excellent veterinarian who treats our animals with the love and care they deserve. Unfortunately the staff at reception are often very unprofessional. They have repeatedly failed to pass on necessary information or return phone calls. They have made mistakes on receipts and invoices that had to be resolved before claims could be submitted to insurance. Worst of all, when you question these mistakes, they never take responsibility and are consistently ready to provide an excuse.

I took my dog here a few times when Dr. Schwartzreich took over. He seems ok i guess the few times i saw him. He kind of tried to guilt me into getting shots and other things i didn't want done even though i had told him i was taking my pet to Vetco for those things since it was more affordable for me. Saying "i see so many animals die from all these easily preventable things", something very close to that.
I also had one of his baby teeth removed because Dr. Schwartzreich quoted me like $80~ for the whole thing only to have them charge me almost $300 the next day because they forgot anesthesia was part of the procedure. On top of that they were doing a special 10% or 20% dental procedure. The staff said my dog wasn't eligible for the discount because an extraction isn't a dental procedure and those are several hundred dollars.
This was before finding out the real price of the extraction. Even when it suddenly became $300 they still wouldn't provide the discount. Another time was paying for my visit and another vet (i didnt get her name) was coming in and was smiling at my dog then asked me "oh is he a rescue? he's beautiful" i told her my dog wasn't, i purchased him and she made a really rude remark something like "you shouldn't do that" then walked away.
I only came here one more time when i had an emergency after this and saw Dr. Ali. She was wonderful, answered all questions, has great bedside manner, didn't get upset i wanted certain things done at Vetco, said "thats totally fine as long as you're getting him everything take him anywhere". Unfortunately she left the practice soon after and i won't be returning here.
My latest interaction with them was today when i called wanting to ask prices for some tests because my dog has a growth. I wanted to bring him here again if the cost was within reason of other places i called or lower. Receptionist asked "is your pet a current patient?" i told her he hasnt been to the practice in several years and she immediately said "we don't give quotes over the phone" and hung up the instant i said "ok thank you, goodbye" This was the ONLY office out of 10 i called that refused to give me prices over the phone.

Wow, I was really impressed by the care and professionalism of this Animal hospital. Veterinarian was awesome, and very honest, , he didn't try and push any other treatments on us, he genuinely cared for my puppy. I will recommend to everyone who's in need of a quality and reasonably priced veterinary. you will be completely happy with their services.

I have been taking my bichons here since puppies. From neutering, emergency back surgery, food/seasonal allergies, annual check ups, questions & concerns, name it & they're there to help. Dr. S always calls to follow up & you could just tell that they really do care about the pets & really want to help. This is the only place I trust and I couldn't be happier knowing my boys are in the best hands.

This "so called" animal hospital is a disgrace to the name it titles itself, I won't go into too much detail because this practice has a shoemaker calling himself a veterinarian. Stay away from this place as all the other 1 star reviews concur with regard what I advise. This place is a hotbed of fraud and full of hidden malpractice and are getting away with it.
If u can give this Shoemaker Negative Zero Stars I would've. I'm sure they will respond but I could care less like they did for me and what they done to me. One thing I know, Karma is real and enjoy!

This is a very strange place. I brought my cat here for 2 reasons. To renew his prescription and to have him treated for an upper respiratory infection. Dr Schwartzreich ran up my bill to over $500. At the time I trusted his judgement and permitted all the crazy tests, after all, my cat was sick. I did notice he spoke very fast, talked over me and never asked questions.
I thought he was rushing since I was waiting in the car. The next day he called with an update on test results. He again spoke very fast, used high level technical terms and even suggested more tests. I asked about the cold my cat had and he said it might be asthma and he didn't think we needed to treat it yet. He would look at it next time. I have a lot of experience working with animals, I was a foster parent for PAWS and knew something wasn't right.
I requested my cats records to read over only to receive handwritten chicken scratch notes. I took the records to a vet I trust in my old neighborhood and requested another exam. They immediately called out that my cat had a horrible upper respiratory infection and needed antibiotics. They actually took the time to review past history and make thoughtful decisions about his existing prescription.
Everything was explained clearly, questions were asked. My cat vomits in the carrier and they cleaned it thoroughly for $5. At New Rochelle Animal Hospital they charged $7.50 and then told me sorry, we couldn't get it clean, it was too difficult. This vet even spent time calming my cat down, told me what a great personality he had. When I picked up my cat at New Rochelle, he had chemicals on him that hadn't been cleaned off, he was frightened and ended up just puking again.
I scrolled down and saw the replies from Dr. Schwartzreich on Yelp. He is defensive, angry even, never apologizes. It is shocking to see this. This is not a way to treat clients. Clients who are bringing their animals whom they love to someone and trusting them with their care. Maybe he should go back to making documentary films.

Dr. Paul Schwartzreich has done wonders for my pitbull who has severe allergies and horrible skin conditions. With his care, my dog is happy again. Dr. Schwartzreich has been kind and compassionate and honestly cares about your pets well being. I can't think of anyplace that I'd rather go to for veterinary care. I am very very grateful to Dr. Schwartzreich for his commitment to my dog's health.

Dr Paul Scwartzreich and his staff are amazing. They are compassionate and professional. My cocker spaniel of 16 years, Patrick, was treated like family and cared for with impeccable standard. He had cancer at age 3 and due to the level of medical expertise and care given by NRAH he lived a long happy life. Today I have Daisy Mae, a female cocker. Dr. Paul loves her as does his entire staff.
He is well versed in all areas of animal medicine and can explain findings with detail. People who have written negatively are perplexing to me. They do charge a premium in some cases, but it's consistent to the care to receive. If you are having financial hardship speak with the staff and perhaps they can accommodate you. Also seek care credit or pet insurance. Nationwide and Progressive are good options. Thank you to the staff who are so wonderful to animal care and welfare. I wouldn't take my fur family anywhere else

I love bringing my dog into New Rochelle Animal Hospital. He's been a patient there for years. The staff are all extraordinarily professional and competent. It's obvious that they're animal lovers. They are gentle, thoughtful and encouraging--even when the news about my pet is not always good. I love receiving the reminders when it's time for my dog's annual visit.
They have parking outside, which is a real plus. You get in and out quickly. I love the perky and sweet receptionist and Dr. Schwartzreich is lovely and with great professional acumen. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for excellence and professionalism in pet care.

Moved to New Rochelle 3 months ago. Needed to find a vet for our 2 dogs and 2 cats. One of my cats was having an immediate problem so called first thing in the morning to see if they had any availability for later in the day. The person answering the phone was abrupt and had me on hold for awhile, so I hung up. I tried back a few hours later, got the same person and the same rude, curt behavior. No thank you for calling, hi- how are you, nothing. If you don't enjoy your job- stay home! We found another vet.

DONT BRING YOUR PET HERE Okay so I brought my tea-cup yorkie here cause he was having consistent diarrhea, Brought in a piece of his poop as well so they can run some test on it, it was really no wait dr. Schwartzreich came into the room in less then 30 mins I explained to him why I was there he kept talking non stop no stop couldn't get a word in he then proceed to examine my dog took 2 seconds or even less told me he would give him a shot cause he was dehydrated and send him home with some antibiotics and pill to keep down the vomiting I said okay he took my dog to the back which I find very weird, cause let's be serious how do I know he gave my dog a shot at all or even the right shot I asked him why he did that he said cause some people can't bare the sight of seeing there pets get a shot I told him he should of asked me that before hauling my dog away, he gave 3 cans of wet food to give my dog while he's on the anti and then I paid the bill of 350$ for what I don't even know, only to bring my dog home and still have diarrhea for weeks after that the dr favorite line was "I don't wanna over charge you or recommend something thats more pricy" I ended up bringing my dog to another vet they told me don't give my dog wet food cause that's what's upsetting his stomach and they gave me another brand of antibiotics which after 2 days my dog was well and back to his self, even to call this vet and ask a question they reply "we wouldn't know bring your dog in so the dr can look at him" this vet is ALL ABOUT MONEY MONEY MONEY! Never going back

DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE! The level of communication is awful, the bedside manor is terrible, Dr. Paul Schwartzreich is rude and unprofessional and they charge an arm and a leg! I took my puppy in for a minor case of diarrhea. "Dr." Schwartzreich came in, touched my dog's abdomen and said ok let me check him out and took the dog into the back.
When he came back he said "I want to prescribe him antibiotics for parasites ($250). We will have the results of the stool sample tomorrow." I decide to hold off on the prescription until we get the results He says "fine it's your dog do whatever you want." Guess what. no parasites. P.S. the dismissive, interrupting attitude persists through his entire visit.
We go to leave only to find out that he has administered $250 worth of things that he never consulted us on or even discussed! When I call to discuss my experience and change doctors the receptionist told me that all the other doctors left the practice. She then said that they have a long day and to not take the short attitude, rudeness and unprofessionalism personally. Oh don't worry I won't take it personally, I will just take my business elsewhere! P.P.S. My dog still has diarrhea a week later. thanks for the help.

Dr. Ali and the staff here are really wonderful and genuine in their approach. The care provided was very thorough and they didn't push me to do anything beyond what my dogs needed that day. They also gave me an appointment on short notice despite never having been there before. I love having them in the neighborhood I just wished they accepted my discount plan (Pet Assure)!

I found NRAH on Yelp about a year and a half ago. Thank goodness I did! I just got my dog Rosie last summer, she's been a great addition to my family. For any and everything I need for here, Dr. Schwartzreich and his team have been amazing. This season is the first time she's every been sick, and Rosie had a terrible sounding cough. Her cough started right after bringing her home from a quick tech visit that same morning.
I gave NRAH a call, and they asked "How fast can you get here?" No hesitation whatsoever! My pup is fine, always anxious when she's at the vet haha but that's how I feel when I have to go to the doctor so that's normal. Hopefully I won't have to come back until her next check up. Thanks as always :

We feel lucky to have found the NRAH after moving from Stamford, CT to the Bronx. We had a lovely vet in Stamford and were nervous to take the babies to somebody new. If you're in the same situation or a new pet owner please consider coming here. Dr. S has put so much into improving the business including some nice exterior renovations, fabulous staff, and a great website.
We had an emergency once and this staff couldn't have been more supportive, caring, or accommodating. Safe to say because of their quick action and care we have two healthy dogs. They also have a fabulous groomer, Maria, who is just the kindest person you could ask for at a Vet's office. Without a doubt consider bringing your lovelies to this wonderful establishment. You won't be disappointed.

Love this vet. When I first moved here i called around and they were easily the most affordable. But more importantly they're taking good care of my animals who are ageing and needing extra care. Both vets are clearly animal lovers and compassionate about making sure my vets are as comfortable as possible.

Well, it started out good. We'd gotten good info over the phone and set up an appointment to see them on Friday, the 10th. Unfortunately, on Friday, we had a snow storm. My husband called in to make sure the appointment was still on but the offices were closed. We were surprised that they didn't alert their appointments of their closing, but we left a message and went about our day.
We never got a return call. When we called back, we were informed that they had reopened at noon (again, without alerting anyone.) My husband asked if we can reschedule. The woman on the phone put him on hold for 4 minutes. Husband hung up and called back and was put back on hold. Again for 5 minutes. So I called while he was on hold. I asked to make an appointment for my cat.
The woman began to take my information. I made the mistake of telling her my husband was on hold. She instantly cut me off, coldly, and went from setting up an appointment to claiming there were a bunch of people ahead of me and the phone went silent. Seriously? If we can't even be treated like customers before we even walk in the door, we sure aren't interested in walking in the door. Absolutely poor treatment.

This is a horrible place i brought my dog here in April and all they did was rip me off because i was on vacation and payed the bill over the phone. never treated her for what she needed to be treated for or did blood work.now my dog is extremely sick and needing surgery because of an undetected illness. That if would of been treated back in April could of been solved with simple antibiotics. so if you love your animals do your self a favor and bring them some place else

Very impressed with Dr. Schwartzreich- He is a good and decent man. Have always had dogs, and like the consistency of of a vet who knows his business, treats you fairly and is patient and compassionate with my animal, (who is my best friend). Dr. Schwartzreich fills a big void in New Rochelle for a competent Vet. Highly recommend!

I knew Dr Schwartzreich in grade school. He had a royal standard poodle named Shana, that was without doubt one of the best dogs ever. She went everywhere with him, always going out on walks. This dog was one of the "crew". My point is that I know this vet is an animal lover, who is in the business of medical practice for animals only because he loves animals. That's the kind of vet you should support, because he will use your support to save and heal as many animals as he can.

I had I very good experience my first time here when I saw Dr. Leeds. He was very kind and answered all my questions. So I was pleased and confident to bring my second dog here. Well.let me tell you. I will never return again! The receptionist or vet technician, is so rude and rotten. I called to inquire about an appointment and asked some clarifying questions regarding my puppy.
I was met with a nasty condescending tone insisting that my puppy who already was seen the week before needed to come back a week later. My puppy already received his first shots and dewormed again and was given a clean bill of health. His fecal results also came back negative (meaning healthy as well). So why was I being treated so negatively? Also, insisting my healthy puppy come back one week later after already seeing the vet; I don't know. Sounds like they want more money to me.
But I will never go back there again and I suggest the same for others. When you pay for services that are quite costly you would hope to be treated with a little respect. I've already found another establishment and they too informed me of how many customers switch to them, because of their poor experiences. Again, Dr. Leeds is wonderful but the rest run away!
