Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our fully trained reception staff will make all attempts to accommodate your requests to the best of their ability. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, it would be best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency and if we can accommodate you at that particular time of day or if the 24 hour emergency clinic would be the best option.
This may be a driver's license or other legal form of ID. We are also required to make a copy of your identification to be kept with your pet's medical record. We will do our best to remind you if your prescription requires an ID, but please be patient with us as we work to implement this change in policy.
Dr. Krake cherishes the relationships she has built over the years with our clients and their wonderful pets. Due to illness in early 2000, Dr. Krake could no longer work at the clinic. She now devotes her time to her home life with her pets and grandchildren. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1982 and in 1984, opened Dakota Pet Hospital in her hometown of Farmington until relocating the clinic to Lakeville in 1989.
Gentle hearts and tender hands, our vet techs not only care for your pet, they love them too!. Courtney attended online schooling from Dallas County College for Veterinary Technician but always knew she wanted to be a Veterinary Practice Manager. Courtney has 6 years of experience in the veterinary field and is currently in school to get her AAS in management, and her CVPM.

Backlogged like every other vet right now, but that doesn't impact the great care and attention they provide to their patients.

One of the best vets I've ever been to. The doctors (especially Drs. McNab and Borka) are smart, pragmatic, and care deeply about the well-being of our dogs. We've been here many times over the years for three dogs and they've always been great to our dogs and us humans. I recommend anyone looking for a vet to give them a shot!

Helpful and knowledgeable staff, not the least expensive place to bring your pets but we usually come here because they know our pets and beats traveling 40 minutes to a less expensive place

The appointment was on time, the vet and her assistant worked really well with Emma. I was very much surprised that between checking in and seeing the doctor and Emma getting her shots took a matter of 34 minutes. I had all of Emma's work ready for them before we got there, everything went as smooth as silk. Very friendly Clinic and everyone was informative on Emma's issues.

Nice people. Seems expensive. But there seems to be the status quo for clinics like this.

I really liked this clinic in the beginning - before covid. When the clinic began focusing on curbside I began receiving unprofessional information from the veterinary technicians regarding one of my pet's known concerns and the technician took it upon herself to diagnose my pet without having all of the information (all of which I had disclosed to the veterinarian and should have been in his chart)- the information completely conflicted with what the veterinarian told me during the appointment.

Following that, there has been a lack of communication. Prescription refills have been cancelled several times without so much as a notification as to why or a phone call even though there are plenty of refills available. Every other month I receive a prompt to bring my pet in for another appointment despite having discussed with the veterinarian during appointments of the need to combine check-up considerations in a more time-effective way due to my employment schedule and the 1 hour drive to commute to this clinic.

I brought my family member here initially because it was highly recommended by a trusted friend; however, things have drastically changed with care services over the past two years and the care and respect I have received due to warrant the one-hour commute. Some staff are friendly and compassionate but this has happened on several occasions over the past year and it does not make up the difference when my pet's medical needs are being compromised without any kind of communication or reasoning.

The price points are fair. If I lived closer I would likely make more of an effort; however, the drive itself is too much for me to overlook the disrespectful communication practices. Update: I contacted the clinic by phone directly as nobody had reached out to me to let me know about the cancelled prescription refills and was told that my pet's test was overdue and therefore they wouldn't refill the prescription despite there being 6 refills on file and that I had brought her in for the testing, annual exam and vaccinations only a couple of months ago.

As this is not the first occurrence with poor customer service, my request to have all of the necessary procedures/tests/exams completed at the past appointment due to the long commute, and a complete lack of communication and accountability for the care of my pets I am now looking for a new veterinary clinic after bringing my animals here for the past few years.

For whomever may be affiliated with this company and reading reviews - treat your clients better. Practice honesty and transparency. I am disappointed that this clinic has not delivered the way their reputation suggested.

The office manager is rude discriminatory against people who struggle financially doesn't listen. This place is money grabbers the front end doesn't document appointments being canceled rather make up some bogus lie about not showing up and lies about the things said. Run away from this place they need a complete staff changing especially this nasty office manger who lies slandering my character and writing false notes in my cats med file

Dakota has been our one and only clinic for over 10 years now and we haven't even lived in lakeville all these years. The women at this practice are some of the most intuitive, caring, and professional people I've ever had the pleasure of working with. We currently own a doberman and a huskador. When we got our doberman I was sure I would have to find Zoey a specialty vet who was known for dealing with the breed and understanding the specific needs dobermans require after the multiple surgeries they endure as puppies to meet akc standards.

I am more blown away at how wrong I was underestimating the staff's vast knowledge each time I visit. In fact it's embarrassing that they now know I was going to cheat on them out of my overly excessive internet searching and over protectiveness. This incredible staff have shown sincerity, love, and compassion for my baby every visit. At least Zoey's excitement to see them tells me so :. Zoey Dobie is on the puppy plan at Dakota and it is a no brainer.

The Vets take a considerable amount of time to help me plan Zoey's big life choices related to timing of her spay, BREED specific cautions/common problems we test her for, and all the silly questions I have in between. The Finke Family Loves every single one of you from reception, to vet techs, vets, and all in between.

Dakota Pet Hospital is tops in all areas of veterinary services. I bring my 2 dogs (Bailey & Willow) for all their care and love the entire staff - professional, genuinely friendly and helpful. Dr. Borka is outstanding, offers treatment options, provides great education and is very patient especially with Bailey (and me!). They provide quality and convenient services at very reasonable prices, and are always accommodating. I love the puppy care plan I got for Willow!

Take my 3 currents dog here and love the care and attention I receive! Dr. Blohm has been great helping me navigate the health issues and diagnosis with my older dog (who had been also go to the u of m vet for specialty care). She has spent significant amounts of her time talking me with and helping me make decisions and giving me her options when I ask. I am very grateful for her!

We've been taking our animals here for the past 18 years. So over all those years, there have been many changes in staff. They continuously get better and better! We love all of the staff, from the front desk help, Techs and especially their Doctors. I've got to give a shout out to Dr. Deb McNab, our personal favorite! Their professionalism in handling things during the Covid-19 Pandemic, with extreme measures in having to drop your pet off at the door, let them handle the appointment while you wait in your car for a call from the Doctor, you still get that one-on-one conversation and a chance to fully understand what treatment is needed and get all of your questions answered, is just remarkable. I definately would recomend this clinic!

This Vet Clinic is not truly concerned about your pet, but more concerned about playing on your emotions to get more money out of you. My pet had a physical at this clinic and was seen in the past. Recently the pets had been urinating on the carpet. I went to the clinic and they gave me a syringe to get the urine. I was able to get a sample and then they told me I needed to bring the cat in and refused to check the urine to see if had a urinary track infection.

I can't understand why they had me get a sample if they wanted to see the cat. We all know this is a scam and they could have tested the sample. This wouldn't have cost as much. Cats hate to travel and get very stressed. I brought my cat to another clinic and the vet told me the Dakota pet clinic was totally wrong for not checking that sample since my pet had been seen there before.

Stay away from this clinic. Their staff also has a very poor way of explaining things to you that make sense. From your response below you have not truly addressed my concern! Your staff wanted me to bring in my cats from Albert Lea, Minnesota to be seen at you vet clinic. When we lived in Lakeville we used your clinic and when I asked them about the medication that would help with their anxiety from the car ride your staff said they would need to see them!

At that point I was done with your clinics nonsense and called another clinic we're we brought (1) of our cats for a check up! We brought our cat there because we fired your clinic and went to another one! I called your clinic to see what kind of response your staff would give me and it was the same crap about needing to see our 4 cats that had horrible anxiety from being in a car.

Your staff didn't care about that. Your clinic is concerned about MONEY! I then called my other vet clinic who saw just one of our cats and they understood our situation and provided medication for our cats anxiety. Your clinic is concerned about money and I spoke to the vet and she told me many vet clinics play on pet owners emotions. You are one of those clinics! Shame on you!

Not only do I trust the friendly staff, but my pup loves going to Dakota Pet Hospital! (I think she is a bit of a celebrity there.) The service is great, and I can tell the doctors care about my pet. I would recommend - 6 out of 5 stars!

We recently moved and thus, switched clinics to Dakota Pet Hospital and I am SO glad we did! The only living creature I love unconditionally is a boxer mix named Leela. She's four years old, has good intentions but gets a little crazy when she sees other dogs on the leash. As you can imagine, waiting rooms are torture. Not here! They have a little nook to the left of the entrance that completely closes off you and your pet from the rest of the clinic.

The walls are about 3-4 feet high so the human can see the clinic but the animal can't. I finally don't absolutely dread going to the vet; this is not something I thought was possible. Also, the staff always comes out to greet us and are genuinely excited to see us! They talk to Leela, make her do tricks for rewards and away her tail goes, happy as can be.

No nerves, no anxiety, just happy to be the center of attention (and get treats, of course). I have never experienced this at any other clinic. My previous vet tech was half terrified of her and somehow did not know that all he needed to do was stop staring her in the eye and give her a damn cookie for sitting! And my favorite part about this place?

They don't try to sell me a bunch of add-on services that aren't necessary for my dog's age and lifestyle. During our first visit, when they saw the records from our pervious clinic, they flat-out told me that most of that stuff was completely unnecessary. I used to pay over $200 per visit (twice a year) and I am now paying LESS than half of that. WHAT!? So, yeah, I highly recommend this place!

The staff at Dakota Pet Hospital have been extremely helpful with my kitties, Frances Bean and Miles Davis. They're older cats, and have had a variety of issues since they're elderly (changes in weight, food, matting, missing the litter box). This year, Frances Bean developed kidney disease and it was super stressful, for all of the animals and the humans in the house!

When it wasn't convenient for us to come in, they were happy to refer us to Inver Grove Pet Hospital. Thank you for thinking of our pets instead of encouraging us to put it off! When it was time to put down Frances Bean (RIP my love), we opted to have her put down at home, because car rides were already a stressful ordeal for her. Jessica came to our home and sat with us as we said goodbye, and explained everything that would happen before we started. I am extremely grateful for the care and attention from Dakota Pet Hospital, and treating our pets as if they were their own.

The doctors and staff at Dakota Pet Hosital have always treated my fur babies with the same love and dedication they would give their own. We especially love Dr. Blum, she is always so patient with our old man cat Budz when he gets a little grumpy. Thank you for the many years of great care!

So glad that we started going here! VERY friendly staff and obviously pet lovers! I feel like my little dog gets a lot of love and attention. She was spayed at the end of August and everything was smooth sailing. Also had a grooming recently and she looks precious! Prices are very reasonable and worth it!

Dakota Pet Hospital is by far the best veterinarian clinic I have been to for the past almost 20 years and the others I have been to were very good as well. They just seem to have that extra special touch about not just caring for the pets but how the owners feel as well. I have had to have two dogs euthanized there and they made it a very peaceful experience.

They even made a donation for a tree to be planted in honor of our dogs in a national park. I would recommend DPH as a pet owners first choice in the Apple Valley, Lakeville, Burnsville region!
