I've used this vet while a student at Auburn for my senior cat, and they have been great! I love Dr. McElroy, and she is always kind and good with my cat. Due to my cats age, we've made pretty frequent vet visits the past few months, and I'm always able to get an appointment or prescription quickly. I'm not sure how the prices are compared to other vets in the area, but I know my bills are significantly cheaper here than our vet at home.
I also love that they always have a well stocked selection of the Hill's prescription diet. It has been a life saver when I haven't been able to order my cats food on time. I will definitely miss this vet office and Dr. McElroy when we move.

Dr. Smith, Dr. McElroy, Jeanie, and the entire staff are amazing folks. We adopted a senior dog, and AVH helped us take great care of her. They are very responsive to emails, flexible with appointments, and fill prescriptions quickly. They explain things in a way that's easy to understand and offer information on various treatment options. When it was time to let Dobby go, Dr. McElroy was so compassionate and patient with my questions and feelings of uncertainty. They handled the cremation arrangements, got a paw print, and sent a very nice condolence card. All of my future pets will go to AVH.

Our 10 year old 150lb English Mastiff had gotten sick on April 20th. He was blind but, between me & my son we managed to help him get in & out. On that day he had cried out & then after he could not walk. My son & 2 more ppl did get him in the car. & quickly rushed him to Auburn. The staff at Auburn could not have been more professional & knowledgeable on what had happened to our Buck.
They explained what options my son had & explained in detail their prognosis. We had to make that decision to let him go. It was the hardest decision we've ever had to make. The staff was wonderful & we highly recommend Auburn if your pet gets ill. Thank you AVH.

My sweet HENRI - my precious friend who came to me from Jesus rest in peace. He was certainly not treated well in the last year of his life by the only vet that saw him, Mary Smith, DVM. He was my constant companion, like my own child. He had a 30 word vocab and responded appropriately to all of them. He was the most responsive canine I've ever had and I've probably had 16 dogs in my life.
He was tuned into my every breath, heartbeat, emotion. He could bring my blood pressure down in 2 to 3 minutes. He went through 10 years of rough life and times with myself and my special needs son.and everyone that met him fell in love with him. He was a champion. Even though he was just a little Maltese, he could run and jump and chase squirrels and rabbits and birds like a Jack Russell terrier! Henry was a little jock.
He was the man! So full of life and love! And so beautiful. I am only able now eight months later to write this because of my grief and shock. Mary Smith dropped the ball over nearly a year frm Sept2019-june2020, and didnt administer bp and heart rhythm meds soon enough. Then put Henri into Two fairly long surgeries Not even mandatory( teeth cleaning and another for some moles removed) while in heart distress with an - abdomen full of fluid as observed in Sept 2019- Dr Mary said no worries! he was just tensing up his ab muscles when we touch him- And I was stupid enough to believe her!
It was belly full of fluid from leaking valve enlarged heart and his lungs under pressure Causing the cough. A valve leaking so bad and so enlarged that had torn away partly from the heart, found when the next vet did the necessary tests that this one should've done. All she did was give antihistamines over and over and steroids. No workup on heart before Surgeries knowing full well that he had a regurgitating valve back in June 2019 eight months before the anesthesia that she was proposing for the teeth cleaning.
That was the first wrong call. More would follow. That was the first wrong call. More would follow. Vet M. Smith Put My dog in declining health in heart failure under anesthesia twice. Put my Henri on all wrong heavy drugs after the 2nd surgery, because he was coughing Hard after. Didn't even question the cough. Impulsively, recklessly diagnosed an irritated esophagus or trachea from intubation.
Pure guesswork. But no heart meds! Nearly a year now- Henri struggling. She made the wrong diagnosis for the third time in nine months giving More antihistamines Not for a weak heart! A One good physical before surgery would've revealed everything. Clear negligence!. Then More strong Drugs for 'allergies' And inflammation after the second surgery, because he was going downhill fast.
He cudnt sleep, walked the floor at nite, jumping up and jerking when he just tried to sit or lie. A hacky cough- neurontin, steroids, apoquel ( known to weaken a heart patient!), More antihistamines! I reported all his symptoms and she never considered a leaky valve in his heart, or the impact on his lungs to intubate and fill them with anesthesia.
Heart Got So large he was gasping for air bc of lungs under pressure, by June 2020, weeks after mole Removal surgery. On Father's Day he collapsed not able to breathe and a very strange cough that sounded like a duck. Smith put him on benazepril to slow heart rhythm REALLY? Ten months AFTER SYMPTOMS REPORTED?! Too late -- so much damage -- too much to recover from. SHE KILLED MY BABY BOY! fluid in the cavity. She should've refunded both surgeries, since they put him in a critical state of end stage heart failure. I agree with posts on expensive and rude dark haired fron t desk

Picked our dog up after a week of boarding and his tail was bleeding all over the place because of happy tail. In my opinion was very noticeable and could have gotten or possibly will get infected. He was shedding an abnormal amount and looked extremely dirty. They were kind and did fix it but it just doesn't seem like they looked after him very well.

I took a semi feral cat to Dr. Mary Smith earlier this week for her to get tested for leukemia and AIDS, vaccines, microchip, and spay. The whole experience was very easy and efficient. The staff were very nice and professional. Dr. Mary Smith handled the cat very well. The incision and recovery exceeded my expectations. The cat was 100% back to normal within 12 hours of her surgery. I am very satisfied with my experience and I recommend this hospital.

Even though I live almost an hour from Auburn Vet Hospital, I board my dog there any time I need to go out of town. I was looking for places to board my dog closer to home, but they were all in the middle of the city with very little green space. My cousin suggested Auburn Vet Hospital. They are FANTASTIC. The prices are so reasonable, lower than most places, and yet their service is wonderful.
Sometimes I have to make a boarding reservation last minute and they are always so accommodating and flexible. Whenever I drop my dog off, they take him outside for exercise right away. I know the staff spend time with the animals, because when I pick my dog up at the end of his stay they tell me all about him and how he plays, things they could only know from playing with him.
My dog knows when we're going there, and it's all I can do to keep him in the car when we pull in, and he definitely doesn't want to leave. It makes me feel better leaving him, knowing that he has such a great time. Thanks Auburn Veterinary Hospital!
