TERRIBLE experience in my baby's last moments. I called Novi animal hospital in an emergency as my senior beagle was suffering badly from her liver cancer. It was a hard day and they made it harder. Before I drove an hour I asked to do all paperwork in advance because my dog was crying so hard from sustained pain that we couldn't wait three more hours for the local appointment.
I arrived and for the first 20 minutes a staff named Renee pushed me on paperwork and credit card information - I noted that we had been waiting and the doctor had still not come in and she told me "the cat next door is struggling to breath, your dog is here *just* for euthanasia." I told her immediately to leave and send in a more sensitive staff to help me.
She started literally shouting at me, reached across my dying dog and snatched the receipt of my payment and said "I'm refunding your money you can take your dog elsewhere." The next ten minutes I waited as my dog suffered only to hear her talking bad about me to other staff to take her side and feel bad for her rather than taking accountability for being insensitive. Bedside manner is a thing, even for pets and their humans.
While the doctor and supporting staff apologized for her and were more kind, I would never return or recommend this place to anyone. Euthanasia is not a transaction or "business as usual." Renee made a horrible day so much worse when I should have been focused on my baby's last moments instead I was reacting to her poor client interaction and snatching my paperwork back telling me to take my dying dog somewhere else.
If you're looking for compassion and dignity for any service, look somewhere other than this facility. It's not worth knowing that's how you could be treated at the worst moments with your pets.

The staff was kind, compassionate and thorough. I spoke with 2 vets and maybe 3 vet techs while my dog was there. I felt like he was cared for to the best of their abilities, which I appreciate because it's very hard to find good care for your pets. The only negative is that I wish they would've emailed me a quote for the overall cost because I had a minor discrepancy as far as cost. But overall, they were really great with my Sterling.

If I could give more then 5 stars I would. I am a few months late leaving my review, but after hearing about a friend's horrible experience at a different emergency vet, I decidedad to leave this review. I had an 18 year old cat, baby. The weekend before Christmas she collapsed and we brought her in. We were seen reasonably fast. The vet was wonderful and explained what our options were as she was in advanced kidney failure.
We decided to make her feel a little better and bring her home to love on her. A month later she had another horrible episode and we knew it was time to say goodbye. We took her back in the middle of a Saturday night. Again we were seen fairly quick. We were treated with compassion. Something we both noticed was that after Baby was gone and we pushed the button to tell them we were done saying our goodbyes the tech that came in took her from me and held her like she was still alive.
That ment alot to us that she was treated with that respect. We also felt the prices were very fair we never felt that we were overcharged. If anything it was less then we expected. We would love to say thank you for the compassion and care our cat and us were treated with. The staff as a whole were wonderful.

We took our guinea pig here on Easter morning due to signs that she was ill. The doctor was very upfront with us and explained her condition was very serious and she was suffering. Unfortunately the best thing for her was euthanasia. The staff was extremely helpful, compassionate and wonderful to us. We even received a condolence card signed by all of the staff in the mail. We would definitely recommend this facility if you have a sick animal.

They performed a last-minute life saving operation on my cat that no other hospital anywhere in metro Detroit was available to do, and he's been urinary-blockage-free with no issues ever since! I really appreciated the system they had for online check-in during the pandemic. My only suggestion would to have what was expected for payment presented a little more clearly.
The final price was higher than what I was first told, which happens, but I also wasn't told up front that I couldn't use Care Credit for the down payment. I ended up having to scramble for funds, and while they were accommodating and let me split the payment between multiple people, the woman I spoke to was sort of implying she didn't think I would be able to pay.
I'm sure they run into that a lot, but a more compassionate tone would have made it less stressful. That said, they saved my baby and I'll never have to worry about him blocking up on me in the middle of the night again! Thank you to everyone here for the excellent care.

Just got a new kitten a week ago. My poor baby had trouble with her back leg, was crying in pain and they took great care of olive receptionist I talked to before hand was so helpful kind and understanding. They are willing to work with your budget and went above and beyond with the options they could provide. Thank you to the whole team olive is now doing better

AEC took such great care of my baby, Gatsby. We have been here twice in the last month and a half and I can honestly say that both experiences, from the front desk staff to the technicians and doctors, show they all truly care. It was hard leaving my boy all by himself but I knew he was in good hands and they treated him as if he was one of their own. I've always recommended this vet for emergency services, but I will recommend them even more now for their compassion.

My visit a month ago was long and stressful but the staff were very kind and gentle towards me. I felt they understood the stress I was under and they were doing their best for all the visitors at the same time. My pet has now passed, but thanks to the medication and the treatment plan they gave me, I was able to give him a much more comfortable final few weeks with me.

The best customer service and compassion I have gotten from a veterinary clinic. I drove an hour away to have my hamsters eye removed. During the procedure, there was more to my hamsters condition than just his eye protruding. They did everything they could to save him but unfortunately after surgery he passed. They do take quite a bit of time with their animals they care for but it's definitely worth it.

Both of our cats got into Lily plants. My partner and I were freaking out but the staff kept us calm and treated our cats like family. Kept us updated, and did everything they could to make the process easy on us. Hope (one of the vets/employees) was knowledgeable and so sweet. We really appreciate their kindness and fast action they took to help our cats!

DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL HERE! They are all about the money and NOT about giving you the truth about your animal. I recently brought my cat here for his second emergency urinary blockage. He was in bad shape. They didn't even know he had been there before for the same problem which should have been a red flag and originally told me 600-800$ for treatment.
After 2 hours they give me another estimate and treatment plan totaling almost 4,000$ for a 3-5 day hospital stay! After discussing that I was not able to pay they said "they wished they would have known I couldn't pay them from the start or they would have brought up euthanasia". The whole experience talking with the staff and Doctors was terrible.
They acted like I was an idiot and made me feel terrible about not being able to foot the bill for my animal. After stating I wanted to take my pet home to his normal vet before I could agree to a payment they agreed to redo my estimate but they had already racked up a bill of 1,200$ in 2 hours. After giving me hope that his condition would improve I agreed to a payment of $1,800 to keep him overnight.
Upon arrival at his usual vet I was told he had irreversible kidney damage and this doctor could not understand how the emergency vet never told me this. He was outraged they were charging me so much for treatment when his condition would not improve. I had to lay him to rest shortly after and this vet charged me nothing. I was put through a rough 24 hours with my amazing kitty and I will never forgive myself for bringing him here first.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. I was recommended by my regular vet to come here to get an echocardiogram for my cat Max. Dr. Brown is the cardiologist here and let me tell you my family LOVES this man! We are blessed to have him! He is seriously one of the best people I have met in my life! He LOVES animals and is so caring! He always takes such good care of my baby Max at his yearly visits!
He explains the test results throughly and always answers questions we have. We love that he is a cat man because let's be honest men who love cats are the best! All the staff are friendly and always are so gentle with my baby! There is usually a waiting list to get in so its best to make an appointment a few months out. My family and I always hook them up for Christmas!
We bring the entire office lunch and dessert around Christmas each year to show our appreciation for being such an amazing place and taking care of my boy! Dr. Brown you are amazing!

I was very impressed with a Animal Emergency in Center a Rochester. I took my puppy there last week when he was hit by a car. Unfortunately his injuries were too severe, and we had to put him down. But the staff and the doctor were so very sweet and compassionate. They made a horrible experience bearable. We just received his ashes in a very nice box and got a paw print that we didn't expect. We also received a condolences card from the staff earlier in the week. If you have a pet emergency, I highly recommend Animal Emergency Center of Rochester.

I am so relieved and thankful for this place right now. Our dog swallowed a huge scrunchie and she is only 30 lbs. I was so scared. We drove 25 minutes to get here and they were able to see her right away to induce vomiting. The receptionist, vet techs, and the vet could not have been more comforting and helpful. I know emergency vets/vets in general are so so busy these days and I'm so grateful that they were able to help our dog tonight. Counting our blessings right now.

I brought my pet rat Renesemee in because it was an absolute emergency. Her normal vet didn't have any openings. She was in their care for over three hours. In those three hours they didn't give her any water or her food I packed for her. Also when the called me to talk about her diagnoses they said they're preparing to discharge her.
I didn't get her back until two hours after they originally said they were preparing to discharge her. I'm very thankful they helped diagnose her and give me the medication I need to treat her. I am upset they didn't think to offer her water at least.

Just called up to this place with concerns about our dog having a neurological reaction to her vaccines. She seems scarily sick. The receptionist talks down to you. Talks to you like your stupid. Seems to not care one bit about your pet. Quote on quote told me "yeah you might want to get that checked out with someone." Well no crap captain obvious.why do you think I'm calling the emergency vet at 10pm.
Then proceeded to tell me they won't see the dog. But from reading all the reviews lately. This is NOT where I want to be with my beloved dog anyways. Looks as if they will just recommend euthanasia or not treating your pet at all (like they just did to me) from the looks of many reviews.

My dog had three seizures in a row, over a course of two hours. I was frantic. Not many choices in Michigan, a few ER's and a lame duck MSU. But it's 3000 miles from UC Davis so I took my chances. Very impressive! I'm guessing they're transplants or animal lovers. Or both. She was admitted right away, and with the utmost professionalism.
They tolerated my phone calls about her condition and the constant questions with grace, limiting patients to allow the best of care. ------------ Rochester ER call tonight: Are you guys busy tonight because I have an Emergency? We're so busy that we're not accepting new patients tonight. We're swamped, but we can refer you to other emergency clinics in the city.
No new patients are being accepted. Okay, good to know. Well, my dog is there and I'd like to know if she has water and if she's still alive. Morgan's Mom? Omg she's fine! We love her, what a Princess. We had to feed her by hand but she's doing well, and we love her. My dog has never received this level of care, and I'm so grateful she was in their hands for this emergency.
Professional at all levels, honest and forthright about diagnosis and medication. Reasonable prices and up to date on current medication protocols. They went above (and beyond) for my little puppy while she stayed for an extended visit overnight. Very impressed. Best ER ever. HONEST and kind.

Do not go here! Went here because I thought my cat may have been blocked due to urinary crystals/bladder stones and they told me he was blocked, gave me two estimates for surgery which were $3000 and above. I have an appointment scheduled at my regular vet for crystal/stone removal in a few days so I was strictly coming to make sure he was not blocked (which I explained in detail to several people) I then took him to a different animal hospital and they confirmed he was not blocked. Went to my regular vet and they confirmed he is in fact NOT blocked. I think it is down right disgusting that they are charging for things that aren't even needed?! Will not be back!

Ehhh. We originally chose this place for our puppy because our vet recommends them for after-hours emergencies. Our first experience with them was when our puppy unexpectedly caught kennel cough. My boyfriend took him in overnight, and he said he wasn't happy with the overall service. I thought nothing of it, because they did necessary x-rays to rule out pneumonia and treated him with antibiotics and cough medicine.
Problem solved. Fast forward to tonight. I called in because my puppy had vaccines earlier today, and is now showing some odd symptoms such as trembling. I don't know if this is normal or not, so of course I was concerned. The girl on the phone was not pleasant. She cut me completely off in the middle of me trying to describe his symptoms and goes "I mean if you think its an allergic reaction, then he needs to be seen right away.but NOT HERE. We're full." I'm like, uh ok - well does it sounds like it might be something serious that I should consider bringing him to an emergency center?
And she again responds with "if YOU think it's an allergic reaction, then we recommend getting him seen." I wanted to be like ok - the reason I'm calling is because I don't know if it's an allergic reaction or something normal! You are the animal experts who our vet says to contact after hours. Needless to say, I called somewhere else and they gave me great advice, and informed me that my puppy should be ok because it doesn't sound like a severe allergic reaction. Instead of telling me to come in, they told me to monitor him closely. It was real simple.

It has taken months for me to write this review because I have been so upset. The doctor misread my dogs initial X-ray. We then had to euthanize him 4 days later. Other vet opinions after the fact pointed out that they clearly mis read the X-ray (basic anatomy), and should have handled the situation completely different. Our dog was screaming out in pain and yet they sent us home 4 different times.
We spent $4k to just euthanize my dog. I feel like we were majorly taken advantage of. The X-ray taken the first day showed something was not right. I would never trust this place with my animal again. We literally watched our baby slowly die over 4 days. My heart is broken and I feel like we were fully taken advantage of.

I took my cat in today, Sir. Bela, after waking up to find he had not been peeing. I was a mess, as he is family to me. The clinic took him in right away, while safety practicing COVID precautions. The vet staff made sure to call me on occasion to keep me updated, as I was not able to be in there with him due to social distancing restrictions. Within a few hours, they had diagnosed the problem, and sent him home with me, along with a detailed diagnosis, care instructions, some antibiotics and a Christmas card. I've never delt with such a compassionate and caring staff.
You can tell the entire staff, as well as Dr. Youatt, truly care about these animals and their owners and doing the best they can do, without charging them an arm and a leg. They were so welcoming, compassionate and understanding to the point it brought me to tears, as I was terrified I wouldn't have the funds to pay for treatment. I would recommend this clinic and Dr. Youatt to anybody whose animals are in any kind of pain or trouble.
I will never go anywhere else. Thank you to all of the Staff at Animal Emergency Center of Rochester for doing your best work and helping quickly diagnose my cat for me. Sir. Bela and I are both so very thankful for you! Seasons blessings, and God Bless!

If you have a true emergency, don't bring your pet here. On top of not seaming to care, these people do not know how to triage. I had a true life threatening emergency with a pet that was almost unconscious, jaundice, and needed a transfusion, and these people turned me away at the door, made me walk 10 feet back to my car to call them to get a link to fill out a registration form, ask me what's wrong, tell me it's a two to three hour wait, then call me 45 minutes later to ask me what's wrong again.
I left and went elsewhere and was taken in immediately. Had I stayed, my pet would be dead. Terrible place with people who Just don't care and shouldn't be in that line of work.

I came in tonight to get my cat an emergency nail trimming (yes, it's a thing). The staff was absolutely INCREDIBLE. From their awesome COVID practices to treating your pet, you can't find a better place! The doctors were up front and honest with their findings and my cat was 1,000,000% better instantly after seeing them. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I haven't even picked my dog up yet, as he is still hospitalized there, but I cannot say enough good things about this place. The communication is thorough, the staff is kind and empathetic, and although we had to wait a bit, they were extremely apologetic and wanted us to know they cared. I came here after a HORRIBLE experience at Wilson's in Washington Twp. and I am soooo happy we found this place.
I did not feel comfortable leaving my dog at Wilson's but after a couple of phone calls with the staff here, I had no issues at all and felt he was going to be taken care of. They actually wanted to find out what was wrong with my puppy rather than give us meds for some BS reason and send us home. So thankful for this place, the staff deserves more than 5 stars.

Just an UPDATE on Niko. He is now a year and 1 month old and the sweetest, most playful boy I have ever had. Thank goodness I did not react on the doctors recommendation to euthanize my baby. If this vet recommends euthanasia please take your pet and RUNNNNN. Best if you don't even step foot into this vet.

Brought my English bulldog Bella in at 1pm on Saturday, July 20th. She was diagnosed with possible low grade pneumonia. We were assured that with proper care, she would be out of the hospital in a day or two. Called to check on the dog at 7pm, was told vitals are normal and they are monitoring her closely, but she was still not eating. She was dead at 7.40pm.
Either she was not diagnosed correctly or was not given proper care while in the hospital. Were we told this was life threatening, we would have at least had a chance to say goodbye to her.

Our regular vet isn't in on Wednesday and after calling our back-up vet, they recommended taking our pup Wrigley into an emergency vet. As the one closest to our house has not been a good choice for some of our friends, I immediately called the Animal Emergency Center in Rochester. The receptionist was very kind over the phone and told me to bring him right in.
As soon as we walked in I was handed paperwork to fill out, but they immediately took Wrigley back to put him on Oxygen (he was having breathing issues). She returned a couple minutes later and took me right to an exam room. I was very appreciative of the immediate care and the fact that since Wrigley was a little shell-shocked (happens when he's in a vet's office) the woman scooped him and carried him back even though he's no small dog.
I was never left alone in the room for more than 20 minutes. Either the tech or vet kept me abreast of what was going on as they administered medications and took x-rays. Each step of the way, they were clear about their pricing and had me sign off for everything. For people complaining about cost - you're visiting an emergency vet. Just like going to an emergency room with a human, it's not going to be cheap, but is well worth the cost to help my fur baby.
Upon being discharged, they gave me very clear instructions on how to care for Wrigley and who we needed to follow up with. All my questions were answered and I left feeling much better than I did when we got there. I wouldn't hesitate recommending the Animal Emergency Center based on our experience today. I'm glad Wrigley is showing improvement already - even if the diuretic cause him to pee all over me when I picked him up out of the car when we got home :)
