The founder of Southtowns Animal Hospital was Dr. L.W. Lindsey. An article commemorating its founding was published in the Hamburg Sun on 06/20/1946. Dr. Lindsay practiced out of a house that stood in front of where the current Souththowns Animal Hospital is located. The practice was founded on personal one on one attention. In the 1970's, Dr. Lindsay retired and sold the practice to Dr. Robert Hirt, who built the first version of the current building while practicing out of the same house in front.

Services
Every visit with our Veterinarians includes a full physical exam from nose to tail. We check eyes and ears, heart and lungs, musculature and range of motion. The doctor will perform a complete oral exam, discuss preventive dental care and grade your pets overall dental health. When coming in for your first visit, please bring any records you have along with any other information regarding your pet.
Payments are due at the time of service. Unlike human hospitals, we do not receive income from grants, fund drives, or government programs like Medicaid or Medicare. In order to keep operating costs as low as possible and given that the hospital does not receive any funding outside that of the fees we collect for our services, Southtowns Animal Hospital is not able to extend credit. The doctors and staff make every effort to estimate the cost of planned treatment before providing services and to advise you of your options.
Recently my beloved Barley came down with vertigo making him unable to stand without help. As he weighed almost 100lbs, he was in need of nursing care. Dr. Jacobi and her dedicated staff made his more than 3 week stay more like a spa visit than a hospital one. I felt secure in the unparalleled care shown to my sweet boy.

We bring all of our fur babies to Southtowns, and when I say "all, " I mean all nine of them and counting! We love the knowledgeable veterinarians and professional staff. We wouldn't go anywhere else to have our pets seen. The wait to get in can be lengthy, but that's to he expected. The wait is totally worth the service.

I highly recommend Southtowns and Dr.Jacobi. They took amazing care of our sweet Ziva for the last 13 years. More so lately as we dealt with cancerous tumors. The love and support they have shown us and Ziva is unmatched. I’ve never seen a vet show more care and compassion than I did with Dr. Jacobi. I will be forever grateful to Southtowns for the extra time they helped us have with our girl before we made the difficult decision to let her cross the rainbow bridge.

The absolute best vet in the area! We've tried several and keep coming back here because the vets are so great with our pets. Their prices are minimally higher than a few others we've tried but it is so worth it for the quality of care you receive. Everyone who works here is so polite and friendly and amazing with our animals. They are very understanding of our nervous, excitable pits.

Always very polite and helpful on the phone. This was my first time I was allowed inside (due to Covid) with my dog since switching to here 2 years ago. Dr. O, Gorman was very helpful, ,a nswered my questions, and was good with my dog. I liked the report card when leaving. The assistant was also very nice. I do think they can lighten up on their strict COVID policies now that things are improving, but overall very satisfied.

The vet team was great with my dog! She gets nervous in vets office and they sat on the floor with her before the exam. They chatted with me about her allergies and nothing felt forced, they made suggestions and let me do some research on my own. I'm so appreciative of their approach and am glad I made the switch to Southtowns. This was the first ever vet visit where my dog accepted treats from someone and it was after everything was done! Thank you!

My experience with this vet. They are more worried about catching covid then providing the best care. I want to see the Dr in person. I want the dr to see and hear my concerns. I am sure I'm not the only person that has an Addison dog but if the vet was knowledgeable with Addison he would of adjusted his meds or knew they offered a 1 month shot or knew that wrenching back and forth was a sign his levels were off instead we were told keep an eye on him.
Like we are the professionals and we know what to watch for. I should of taken him somewhere else. Orchard park emergency knew in fifteen minutes what we should of known a month ago. We would of been able to help him sooner instead we had no choice he's gone. Rip sweet boy I hope and pray if you have an animal with addisons find them the best care and don't just settle.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Reliability, Responsiveness, Value My 3 adult cats are always seen here however, l haven't really been satisfied with their care. I have been tolerant because of covid. Today I suddenly lost my 9-month-old female and when I called South towns to ask some general questions I was uncompassionately told they were not able to give me advice. No doubt will I find another vet.

Guys, whoever is handling your Google listing needs to be changed. If it is the owner, stop, pay someone. If it is someone that works for you, get someone else to do it. If you are paying someone, fire them, and get a new company. Your responses to some of these 1 star reviews is atrocious. Making written excuses for all to read, rather than trying to make changes. It stopped me from bringing my dog here.

We got a text telling us to call when we arrived. They they asked us a few medical history questions about our pet. Then came out to get her and brought her back out while we waited in car. The Doctor called us explained how examination went and how she did with vaccines. Southtown Animal Hospital is very professional and caring not only to your pet but to you also. We highly recommend them.

This was my first visit with them. I had both of my girls there today. They are all so incredibly nice there. The girls at the front desk were very nice and pleasant. The vet took her time and explained every little thing to me in detail. I did not feel like I was bothering them with my questions and they were willing to answer all of my questions. Hands down this is a good vet and I am very pleased to be seen by them.

Scheduled our dog for jaw surgery a month ago. Both parties agreed to the procedure and was given a printout of the cost. I brought my dog to the hospital at the agreed time of 730 AM. Waited outside for the time to bring him in. Finally got a call from the vet. At that time, she told me she " googled" what would be the best way to handle the dog's. jaw. "GOOGLED"? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
You are a vet and you have to research a procedure online the day before? Then proceed to tell me, after a month of waiting for this day, that you don't have the faculties there to handle the procedure and you would call a specialist" when they open" to see if they can fit him in. WHAT? Now you decide this? Look elsewhere for your pet's needs people. This hospital obviously isn't capable of handling animals needs.

We love this hospital for our dogs. Dr. Jacobi was wonderful about my last dog when he passed away quickly. She's compassionate & knows exactly the right words to say. We just started bringing in our new puppy & everything has gone smoothly. They even call the next day to see how your dog is! We highly recommend them. :
