The Veazie Vetrenary Clinic understands the health and needs of our cats and dog better than the other vets which we were recommended. They were able to immediately identify our cat's health problems that the other local vets ran some tests for; and didn't even do full bloodwork. Which could have let us address one issue earlier, before it developed, and made her a nonviable candidate for surgery removing a tumor.
I only advertise this now because we have to move where our jobs aren't lowering the national average for our skills, with a higher cost of living. We will miss having these people brighten our life and care for our babies.

My little girl sustained injuries very early this morning & Veazie took her in immediately upon opening. They assessed her & had everything on hand to send us on our way with confidence that I could care for her at home. She is resting comfortably now with her medications. I also appreciate that they gave us such good care without charging outrageous amounts.
The doctor was so kind & gentle with her. He was also very knowledgeable & made me feel comfortable about her situation even though I was terrified for her when I initially walked in. We are both doing much better now after Veazie took care of us. I felt comfortable here & would bring my pups back.

Specialists with great "doggy bed side manner". Our one mix chihuahua has heart issues that they brought under control. He is a sweetie and easy handle. Our other pure chihuahua can be a handful, but not harmful to humans, and Veazie docs and techs have a way with him. We see many breeds going in, so I bet they do it all.

The staff of this facility truly care more about our beloved furry family members than money, which isn't as common as one might think (especially given what they charge). We have experienced a lot of financial insecurity over the last 6 months and were worried about the health of our 18 year old cat as well as the cost of neuter/spay for our kittens.
They have worked with us to get our cats to prime health and happiness and have been compassionate in their billing procedures. They were also where we took our 7 year old cat after we lost her in October and they were gentle with our grief and were reasonably priced for their cremation services. They were upfront and honest about the timeframe for her being returned to us.
We also don't mind paying them what they charge, even though it's considerably more than their competitors, because their staff tout their livable wages and are genuinely happy to be working here. We will continue to bring our animals here and pay what they ask because for us it means something that our family can trust them even when we can't afford to pay them right away. (And we are hopeful to pay it forward when things stabilize so they can continue this compassionate practice.)

This is the best animal hospital in Penobscot County in my opinion! My cat developed bad arthritis in the spine and she was elderly. They were all so supportive and explained everything thoroughly with me. I had to put my Princess down eventually, but they were honest with me regarding her condition, and there wasn't much anyone could do for her anymore.
They were supportive and gave me plenty of time with Princess upon putting her down. I wanted to especially thank Amanda for everything she did for me! I am so grateful to have had the best people surround me in my time of need. Thank you to all the staff for being so compassionate and caring! I will always be grateful for this place! I highly recommend this animal hospital!, Signed, Corina and Princess, and Mischief

Service and staff is nice. Dr Keane is great. Just had to have our dog put to sleep and was charged $450.00. When asked for the breakdown $125.00 was for the medication and the balance for the cremation and return of our beloved pets ashes, $325.00. Unfortunately we lost another of our babies who died at home 2 months ago. We took her to the same facility the vet uses for cremation services and received the same service for $79.00.
Kind of feel like the vet needs to rethink taking advantage of people in a very vulnerable, sad time in their life. The people answering the phone when you are making that kind of an appointment could be a bit more compassionate also. The lady was pretty cold and matter of fact, kind of rude.

So very pleased with the service we received here! Dr. McCaw and tech Lindsey went above and beyond our expectations when helping treat our dog who struggles with fear aggression especially when at the Vet! They made us feel welcomed, safe and comfortable and handled everything in such a professional manner. Our pup went in showing signs of lameness/limp limbs and was treated right away and is now making great improvements and recovering! We highly recommend checking them out!

I took my dog here after being recommended by friends. They have had good experiences, so this review may be specific to one vet at the clinic (Dr. McCaw). Less than two months ago I had my first experience here, when I brought my dog in for a minor concern. They recommended getting her teeth cleaned and pulled, as she is an old dog and has dental disease.
They gave me a quote for $800-1300 for this, on top of the $200 charge for that day's visit and a blood panel. Keep in mind, my dog weighs 7 pounds. Since she is eating fine and I can't afford this, I put it off. Today, I brought her back in and they insisted on taking another blood panel (I had to point out to the vet that they had already done one less than 2 months prior, which they should have known, and they ran another one anyway saying that it would be limited and less expensive).
They then gave me an entirely new estimate for the dental cleaning that is double what the first estimate was ($1200-2000), even though her blood panel was still fine and nothing had changed. This visit cost me another $200. They also gave me antibiotics for my dog's gum infection- when I got home, I realized that they gave me a 15ml bottle after having told me to give her 1ml, twice a day, for 10 days (basic math, folks- this incomplete course of antibiotics cost me $55).
I don't know if this is only the one vet there, but I will not be returning to this clinic. I left with the impression that the only concern here is for money, and that they do not as much consult with you as attempt to strong arm you into spending money by using fear appeals. Extremely disappointing. I just called Hampden Vet Clinic to get a rough estimate for the same procedure after explaining to them what happened at Veazie. Their estimate: $500.

My dog, Sid, and I visited Veazie Vet last week. I want to commend Veazie Vet for their professional and caring philosophy. We were able to get an appointment the next day, which was perfect for our schedule. When we arrived, Brianna came out to collect a urine sample. Brianna deserves hazard pay for the urine collection. Sid's urine stream is strong and Brianna was able to collect it, and, I'm sure, was splashed - no way around it!
It was a pleasure to have Dr. Tardiff as our vet for this visit. She is knowledgeable, was gentle with Sid, and took her time to diagnose Sid's issue and talk with me about it. Although Dr. Cloutier is our regular vet, we'd be happy to see Dr. Tardiff any time! Veazie Vet seeks the best vets and employees for their clinic. Mollie Straub

Veazie Vet has been our vet since moving to Maine. They've always treated our pets just like we do - as members of the family. Our cats have been treated for everything from run of the mill problems to extensive dental surgery. The vets are unfailingly kind and clearly up-to-date on the latest in veterinary medicine. The staff and techs always offer great advice and care.
The hours are flexible and the front desk is clearly staffed by animal lovers who are always wiling to answer questions over the phone if they can. Dr. McCaw has an encyclopedic knowledge of cats and the entire office has been set-up to make the visit as stress free as possible. We are grateful to have such great care so nearby.

I called the Veazie Veterinary Clinic before moving to Bangor to make an appointment for my cat. The woman who answered my call was friendly, helpful and they had availability on the day I absolutely needed to bring my cat in. Cut to day of visit: Of course, this is the one day I sleep through my alarm and wake up past my appointment time. I call the clinic to apologize, and they again were friendly, helpful and were still able to squeeze him in.
The Veazie Clinic itself looks like a cabin oasis situated on a large green yard. There is even an animal rehabilitation building attached to the back and separate entrances for cats and dogs. The cat side waiting room is filled with Science Diet speciality diets (CD, KD, DM, AD, etc) in wet and dry varities. I was checked in quickly and with ease and the woman behind the desk was so sweet and loving with my kitty.
I was brought back to the exam room and was seen by Dr. Cloudier. He and his technicians were gentle, patient, professional and thorough in their examination and discharge processes. I love any hospital that will do all procedures in front of you and this is one such place, but what made it even better, was the explanation as to why they were doing the procedure where they were and why it was less invasive to my cat.
The tech even let my kitty go back to drop off his bloodwork as he had been dying to escape from the room since he arrived. The rooms were very sterile and cat friendly (complete with a perch for them to jump on) and they even do the outprocessing in the exam room so when the appointment is over you can leave without torturing your furry loved one with an even longer wait.
This veterinary clinic clearly is on top of their business and offers top of the line care for your pets. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking to find the best care for their pets. I actually look forward to bringing my cat back for his next check-up.
