Penobscot Veterinary Services was established in 2006, but its heritage extends back to 1971 as Penobscot Veterinary Hospital. PVS is one of the longest standing American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited practices in the state of Maine. Our veterinary team includes 4 full-time veterinarians, 1 practice manager, 1 office manager, 5 veterinary technicians, 4 customer service representatives, 3 veterinary assistants, and 1 animal care attendant.Many of our staff are crossed trained in multiple areas of the practice.
Did you know that accreditation for animal hospitals is voluntary? Surprising, isn't it? Nearly 60 percent of pet owners believe that their pet's veterinary hospital is accredited when it is not. In actuality, only 12-15% of animal hospitals have gone through the accreditation evaluation process by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).
Penobscot Veterinary Services is a modern facility with a comfortable reception area, multiple exam rooms, kennels, surgical suite, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging facilities. Our hospital is designed to make our clients and pets as comfortable as possible. We do our best to provide care that create the least amount of stress for both our patients and their people.

Had to find a Veterinary doctor for our senior citizen kitty. This place has been wonderful. Our cat has a lot of issues with anxiety but the staff handled him so well and he actually came home very happy instead of scared. They were very thorough and their prices are fair. Everyone we met was so kind and I would definitely recommend this Vet if you need to bring your animals for a check up or if urgent medical needs arise.

Since my family and I moved to the area a few years ago we decided to go to PVS for many reasons. We are so glad we did. We have taken our Kitty ( Big Guy ) to PVS for months and we couldn't be any happier. Very compassionate place, kind, understanding and most importantly they work with you. They try and not charge you for things that are not needed as well. Very happy with our service. A big thank you to you all.

My two goofy puppies love to bark, and are kind of noisy and a pain in the butt to take to the vet. Penobscot veterinary services staff are incredibly patient and very understanding. They don't mind taking one of my dogs through the back door right into a room So they don't bark at the other dogs in the waiting room. They understand that they just have some anxiety and need to calm down first before being seen. I've never seen anyone so patient and so understanding with my animals. I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else.
