I have brought my bulldog to this vet for years. Due to covid19 they do not allow you in the office anymore but instead you have to wait in your car in the parking lot which is fine. I brought him for allergies that he gets every other year. I waited an hour in the car. Then got a phone call saying he was ready and I owed almost 600 for tests I never okayed and didnt even know about.
They then insisted they tried to call me 7 times but never received one call meanwhile the whole time I was in my car sitting 20 feet from the building. Almost 600 dollars later and the dog is still suffering, I felt extremely taken advantage of. The lack of communication is what made me take the records and leave.

Our two dogs have been cared for by the staff and providers at Star Meadow for over 11 years. We have always received excellent patient care each and every time. The staff are always happy to see our girls and always compassionate and caring. They are our second family and we love everyone there. The providers are fantastic and experts in care.

I have been coming here for years now. These past few times my dog gets very worked up and anxious. He barks the whole time we are in here. Last time I came the vet tech was giving him treats so that we could talk and he wasn't barking. This time I came prepared with my own treats, so I was giving them to him so I could her the lady talk and she seemed annoyed that he was barking then told me to stop giving him treats.
So I could barely hear what she was saying. They should have on file that my dog gets nervous here and not make us wait forever for the doctor to come in making him more worked up. Might have to change vets.

It is with a sad and heavy heart that I write this. I have spent years with Star Meadow. I thought they were doing right by my dog. Over the last 10 months, I have spent $20,000 doing every test, treatment, therapy, surgery and medication, because there was something wrong with my dog. Or at least I thought they did everything. Broken heartedly I was wrong.
My dog died because they didn't test for one simple thing, Lyme's disease. Untreated Lyme's Disease. Don't think that I have not paid for expensive and thorough blood tests ruling out the rarest of things. I had to rush her to Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine this week. Within an hour they new it was untreated Lyme's Disease. Unfortunately, it was now too late.
They had Star Meadow fax over her whole record. It showed they never bothered to do that simple, common test. We live in CT. Lyme's is prevalent among people and pets. Unlike people, she could have been cured. They killed my dog. They had no problem charging me for high costs tests, X-rays, consults, blood work, therapies. I guess it was too cheap to test for Lyme's.
Everyone that I have told this horrible story to over the last few days whole heartedly agree, my dogs death is because of them. Please be aware of them, and please, don't let your pet die of Lyme's.

We had Tucker's annual physical yesterday and as always the staff were extremely kind, knowledgeable and caring towards both we humans and our Tucker! Best of all is Tucker's vet Dr. Michelle Melament who makes you feel as if your pupperoni is her only patient. She works with you (doesn't talk "at" you) to ensure your pet is getting the very best care and then follows up with a personal phone call with test results and further consultation. We LOVE her and everyone there! I hope I come back as a dog in my next life so Dr. Michelle could be MY doctor!

I originally started going here because I lived down the street in Farmington when I first got my cat. After I moved to Naugatuck and then to Wolcott I tried going to vets closer by but was never as happy as when I went to Star Meadow.
After a 3 year hiatus, I took my cats back to Star Meadow and once again was treated with the best care possible. The vet techs were gentle even though my cat hissed and tried to bite them when they cut her nails. They complimented and pet the cats and gave them treats to calm them down. Wonderful vet techs.
Then when the vet came in to do the exam, she walked me through every step. She addressed every concern and answered every question thoroughly. I never felt like she was rushed to go to another room. She also suggested I could skip some tests and put the money towards a treatment she thought was necessary instead of trying to get me to spend all the money on all the things. She took the time to show me how to administer ear cleaning solution instead of handing me a bottle and sending me home.
I love this vet clinic and highly recommend them to anybody.

We've really enjoyed bringing Maddie to Star Meadow for the past four years! The staff has always been very friendly and helpful!
On a couple of occasions, when she was younger,Maddie would swallow things she shouldn't have! Why would a dog eat a sweatband??? We. We're able to bring her right in and Dr. Malament was able to take care of her immediately!
We're very appreciative of the care and concern that Dr.Malament has shown not only on these occasions but also with Maddie's thyroid. I'm sure we'll be using Star Meadow for many more years!

My experience of Star Meadow is far better than what I have read in the 2 posted reviews. The doctors and staff are gentle and caring. We have had nothing but good experiences with our dogs and cats. We also kennel our dog there and it amazes me that she gets so excited when she sees where we are. She loves going! I am so thankful that we found this clinic.

I'll be brief and to the point, I would say this is one of the most overpriced Vet clinic's in all of New England. After being shocked at our first bill and the outrageous charges for offices visits and services. Not only the prices are terrible, but so were the medical staff, the doctor we were paired with was shutoff and cold to patients. Additionally we had strong indications that the doctor had passed immediate judgements based on breed and showed a sever lack of ability and knowledge when compared to other clinics in the area.
Small waiting room, with nowhere to really take the animals. Simply put, I wont return here, nor will my pets. Additionally I would urge you to consider your other options as just about anywhere else would be far superior to this facility. The best thing from our experience would have to be the rest of the staff. Unlike the doctor we met, everyone else in the clinic and behind the counters were extremely friendly and helpful. So in the end at least there is that, and the only reason it could be considered "fair" service. Most sincerely B.Bailey
