We wanted to create something to help people through the grief of losing a pet and to remember the joy. So we made a memory garden for our pets. Anyone who has lost a pet is welcome to place a rock, ashes, or any other remembrance that holds a special place in their hearts.

Since 1988, the goal of the veterinarians and staff at Gardner Animal Care Center has been to assemble and maintain a veterinary health care team committed to providing exceptional client service and veterinary health care. The Gardner Animal Care Center displays an unrivaled commitment to our clients through continuing education, technological advances in veterinary medicine and service, and most importantly, providing compassionate care to all pets entrusted to us.We care for pets throughout central Massachusetts and serve the areas of Gardner, Fitchburg, Worcester, Leominster, Athol, and Rindge and Keene, NH.
The Salt Box house was constructed by Ebenezer Howe, one of the first settlers of the area. At that time the eighty-acre lot was part of Winchendon. Mr. Howe was one of the signers of the petition for incorporating the new town of Gardner. The house was later purchased by furniture factory owner, Mr. Keyworth, at the turn of the century.
Gardner Animal Care Center provides caring, compassionate veterinary medicine to pets in Gardner and beyond. When Dr. Brian C. Hurley was five years old, his dog, Shelley, was seriously injured. They rushed her to the veterinarian, but her injuries were too extensive to save and they had to say good-bye.
In your search for a veterinary facility, we believe all of you expect high-quality care as well as great service. Our goal has been to create an animal care center that meets the needs of you and your pet. The Gardner Animal Care Center was designed to offer you what you demand in veterinary health care and ancillary services such as grooming, boarding and agility, and training.

Dr. Amber Shamburger is so great to work with, as is everyone else that has handled our animals including the assistants and techs. Very down to earth, they put a lot of effort into their practice and everyone seems to be genuinely happy to be there. We have an aggressive cat and they do their best to be accommodating. Ashley (new to this hospital) was SO great handling our angry cat and she was hilarious. Thanks everyone!

Everyone is nice, caring, and gentle with both my boys. Been taking my older dog for years and just started taking my newest addition. They always make super late/early appointments for my older dog who has high anxiety and is very reactive to other dogs. They give my dogs the care and attention they need every time

Gardner Animal Care Center always has staff members that are so kind and helpful. When I got my new puppy, the staff and Vet took extra time to make him feel safe and comfortable there so that he wasn't scared. Even with the inevitable unenjoyable visits for the pet (getting shots/vaccienes, blood drawn), the staff is always working their hardest to still make my dog feel comfortable and safe. All around great staff and such a great place!

Just took one of my dogs for her annual exam. 437.00. Included a 12 pack of interceptor for 147.50 AFTER rebate. I checked their OWN online pharmacy when I got home and the same med was 114.00! How do they justify that! They couldnt. In January one of my other dogs had her annual Golden Retriever LifeTime Study which is a very thorough exam including bloodwork, DNA, etc. a month later I got a text stating she dog was due for her annual exam, YIKES. They dont like being questioned about your concerns. There are plenty of good vets out there, I would look around.

Was pleased and impressed with the service provided for my dog at Gardner Animal Care Center! They were very compassionate and understanding of my dog's stress issues! I was able to get a timely appointment, seen quickly and all employees were super nice! They provided the service I was looking for my dog, they explained additional services, but with no pressure at all! I am just sorry I did not switch to them years ago! I highly recommend GACC!

My dog is a senior, and so I schedule an exam for her checkup every 6 months. This was the reason for her recent appointment. The exam was very comprehensive and not rushed through, as always. Dr. Amber was very thorough, and made certain to fully address my concerns. I have been taking my 2 dogs and 2 cats to Gardner Animal Care Center, since having moved to Gardner nearly 6 years ago. I have not ever had any less than a positive experience when receiving care for each of my pets.

Great experience today! I had never been to this office but was in need of a groomer, which my vet does not offer. They squeezed me in and I was so happy with the service and their wonderful personalities. The office itself is very large, plenty of room to move around. I am now considering switching to this place for all my animal needs, that's how good I felt about my visit today. Two thumbs up

Well 1st this wasn't my first visit to Gardner Gardner Animal Care Center. The 1st visit was really outstanding. It was just before the Mask mandate was lifted so I worried about not being able to stay in room with my Shepherd. But the Doc and Tech actually came out on to the patio to see Shade so I could be with her. I was really impressed with that level of care for not only Shade but for me too.
And the 2nd visit was a few months later where my Shepherd had to undergo surgery. I had to drop her off and pick her back later in afternoon. These people at the Care Center were just as amazing as my 1st visit. They cared for Shade while she was there and even gave a check-in call the next day to see if she was doing OK. Love this place and the Wife and I have found our Vet.

I am not happy with Gardner Animal Care Center I have had them for many years. Never had an issue until now. They do curbside now we can't go in to see what goes on in the room and one of my dogs got hurt while in there care for shots and check up. I let them know but every time I called to talk with the doctor she was always busy. I sent pictures of my dog.
Still nothing from them. She had a score under her neck that she kept scratching ended up with a big scab. This was in July 2020 and her scab was there for long time I have to put coconut oil and a dog ointment to clear it up.

I have to send a big thank you to the staff @Gardner Animal Care after our last visit at day care. My Golden Jack had a great day of fun in the sun swimming in the pool and playing with his furry friends. When I picked him up at the end of the day he has been washed and brushed and smelled like he had a day at the spa. He was a very happy, tired and clean pup. Thank you to all who took such good care of him!
