We are a full-service small animal veterinary clinic with the expertise and desire to optimize your pet's health. Our mission is to provide quality medical care for the animals of our community in order to benefit the lives of the pets and their families. We have very exciting news! As some of you may know, Dr. Horton got married a few months ago and is now Dr. Emily Fant.
While her name has changed, her veterinary skills sure haven't! Please help us continue to congratulate Dr. Emily Fant & her husband Dr. Jacob Fant (a human dentist) in their marriage.

We tailor exams to the life-stage and needs of each pet. Puppies and kittens receive a series of exams for vaccinations, dewormings and to monitor growth and development. These exams are also a time to discuss appropriate care and training for these new family members. If they have been healthy, adult dogs and cats are checked once a year.
Do I need an appointment? Yes, wellness and sick visits are scheduled by appointment. Existing clients may schedule a drop-off appointment to leave their pet with us if it's easier for their schedule. What are technician appointments? These are scheduled appointments performed by our licensed veterinary technicians that do not incur an examination fee.
Keep furry friends happy and healthy during the chilly winter season by following some of these tips and tricks! Check for cracks and bleeding, and add a protective layer of Vaseline to paws before walks. Just remember to wipe it off post-outdoor adventure. Also clean off bellies and legs to remove any antifreeze residue or harsh ice-removal chemicals.
We all love spending the long, sunny days of summer outdoors with our furry companions, but being overeager in hot weather can spell danger. Visit the vet for a spring or early-summer checkup. Make sure your pets get tested for heartworm if they aren't on year-round preventative medication. Pets can get dehydrated quickly, so give them plenty of fresh, clean water when it's hot or humid outdoors. Make sure your pets have a shady place to get out of the sun, be careful not to over-exercise them, and keep them indoors when it's extremely hot.

Dr Elliott is the very best vet that I have ever had. I have been taking my dog to her for 10 years and think she has hung the moon. I am in my late seventies and have had a dog ever since I was six. I feel so strongly about her that when and if she retires, I doubt I could go to another vet. Posie's other vet who is a dermatologist told me that everyone else in the practice is also top notch, although I have never seen one of her partners.

I don't even know where to begin. First I will say that Emily Horton is an absolute angel. I have never left a vet office feeling so confident in the care my dog is receiving. She came in, sat down, & took notes while I described my pets full medical history & the catastrophe that happened recently at another nearby vet. Dr Horton was very knowledgable, so incredibly kind, and made me feel as though she really cares about my dogs recovery.
The technician that helped was also so kind, patient with my dog and attentive. I could not be more thrilled that I found her, Dr. Horton and Shady Grove. I recommend them a million times. 100000000/10 experience. Thanks so much for restoring my faith in this field & making me feel like I have somewhere safe to bring my dog!
