Services
You work hard to ensure that your furry family member has the best possible life. That's why partnering with a veterinary provider who genuinely cares for you both is so important. At Pennfield Animal Hospital, we are proud to offer a comprehensive range of services to address your pet's specific veterinary needs.
Just as you visit your doctor once a year for a complete check-over to make sure that you are healthy, your pets - as members of your family - should also be checked over for any underlying illness. Sometimes changes in your pet's health come on gradually so you might not realize that they are occurring.
Dental care in Veterinary Medicine is both corrective and preventive. Research has shown that even by age 3, 70% of cats and 80% of dogs have some degree of dental disease! This usually starts as tartar (brown stain) and develops into tartar and calculus. This, in turn, leads to an irreversible disease process known as periodontal disease (infection, gum recession, and tooth loss).
Prior to surgery, your pet will need a current examination to ensure that your pet can safely go under anesthesia. This can be done on the morning of surgery or preferably a few days before. Your pet should also be fasted for 12 hours and have water withheld the morning of surgery. At our clinic we strongly believe in the value of doing pre-anesthetic blood testing prior to surgery to make sure your pet is able to safely deal with the anesthetic agents; if a pet has previously unknown organ disease, anesthesia and surgery could be potentially dangerous for your pet.

I highly recommend Pennfield Animal hospital. We have been taking our animals there for over 30 years and have always received the best care and advice. They are always compassionate to our fur babies and take the time to explain any problems. They have even helped us when we have been out of town. The office staff are also very nice.

I used them for one of our dogs for over 13 years, and before that my parents went to them with our childhood pets. After recent interactions with a very rude tech/receptionist we will not under any circumstances be returning. There are better veterinary clinics in the area that are a much cheaper option. Most of the staff has changed over the years, and their quality of care, and professionalism has gone down with that whilst their prices continue to increase. Please shop around before using them.

I have an appointment tomorrow, they seemed to be the only vet in the area willing to take a new patient/client, really worked with me and the schedule to see my dog and a pretty urgent matter when even 24 hour hospitals were turning me away. If the vet care is anything like the accommodating receptionist/front desk help then definitely bring your animals here! Very caring and took the time to actually listen to what was going on and actually help me!
