We took our cat here for emergency treatment when he was suddenly acting lethargic and wouldn't eat. Our cat has a history of stomach issues so we thought that was the case again. We didn't have a vet in PA yet and couldn't find anywhere else to take us at 7pm except this place. After paying $1,300 for initial testing, the only thing they could find was that he had a fever and they wanted another $500 to be transferred to a different department for further testing/treatment.
After that lead to nothing, they then wanted $800 for an ultrasound before continuing with treatment. I decided to discharge my cat because his fever went down and to get a second opinion elsewhere. Another animal hospital ran the same tests for a way more reasonable price and found a blockage in his stomach (wow, didn't see that coming) that Valley Central failed to find.
I'm SO glad I made the decision to take him somewhere else instead of leaving him in the care of Valley Central. He is being treated properly and already doing so much better at the other vet. Although the staff at Valley Central was very friendly and attentive, I just don't think they were experienced enough to catch what was wrong with my cat the first time around which could've possibly ended very badly.
Perhaps an honest mistake, I would understand, but for $1,800? What a joke. I think they prey on people who love their pets so much that they are willing to pay these outrageous prices in an emergency with no place else to go. Valley Central also does not allow you to enter the building which makes such a stressful and scary experience feel impersonal and cold. Also, apparently this place offers a military discount, which my husband mentioned he is in the military (hence why we didn't have a vet in PA yet- we move a lot), and no discount was applied to our bill.
I never leave reviews, let alone bad ones, I understand everybody is human and people make mistakes but for the price and lack of proper treatment, I felt compelled to leave this review. I truly would not recommended this place to anybody.

The WHOLE staff was amazing. From the moment I called to make sure they could get him in, until the moment we left they were compassionate, sympathetic and so very sweet. Our baby was 15 years old and the doctor. Wow was the doctor amazing. She told me everything and gave me the options we had but we knew in our hearts that it was time to let him go.
When she was in the room with us, she explained everything. She told us what was going to happen and she made sure it was fast and painless. Afterwords, when the nurse brought us the cast if his paw, she was very sweet and sympathetic. It's over an hour from our home but if I have ANY emergency with my other dog, I will take them here in a heartbeat.

My dog was attacked by his friend (no further visits will occur after this incident) and had a puncture wound. I didn't notice until I saw the small blood stains on the sheets the following morning. That's when I knew I missed something even after looking him over - it was concealed by his long fur. He was not in emergent condition as he was eating/drinking, energetic, and acting normal.
However he's my baby and just over 1 year old so I was distressed as I didn't know if the wound was serious or not. I rushed him to the ER as it's the closest to me. The staff walked me through the paperwork and assured me he would be okay. They were very kind as I sat there crying my eyes out, I really appreciated their compassion. I was in my car maybe 30 minutes before they were able to take him inside (I called for an update after 35 minutes and they let me know his status) and about 1 hour later he was discharged with antibiotics and a few days worth of pain meds.
He was happy and tail wagging, no signs of distress or discomfort. I would like to note that the ER was not busy and he was not in emergent condition. I have read several negative reviews left by owners understandably concerned about their pets well being and pain that arrived while there were long wait times with pets in non urgent condition. I believe from my experience if my pet was in dire need of urgent care the process would have looked much different - rushed in with my pet and paperwork handled later.
The only negative thing I will make note of is that I was not allowed inside with my dog. As he wasn't being rushed to surgery where you need a sterile environment and he was seen immediately by a vet I should have been allowed inside. I am fully vaccinated with booster and they explained it was not a covid related policy. However you would never tell a parent they can't go into the doctors office while their human child is examined.
I always check if I'm allowed in with my pets especially somewhere new. Whenever possible I choose locations I can be present for their examinations. I strongly recommend reviewing and reconsidering the policy against allowing the owners inside. Otherwise my experience with the vet ER was a pleasant one.

If I could give zero stars I would. I arrived here with my dog as an emergency visit. They had already known she was on her way in for a pesky ear infection that had been causing her pain. I had specifically said I only wanted her ear checked out and taken care of. I was told it could be a 1 - 2 hour wait. They offered for me to wait in my car or go home.
I decided to stay and was told they would call with an update on my dog. By the first hour I had grown anxious seeing other people come and go with their dogs so I had called just checking in on mine. I was told she hadn't been seen at all and was rushed off the phone. I waited another hour (Now at the 2 hour mark when they sugested she should be done) Called again to check in on her now growing concerned over my dog who has severe separation anxiety.
They said she was resting comfortably but had not been seen yet that they have an emergency with only 1 vet on duty. I understood, gave absolutely zero problems, but simply asked if within the next hour if they couldn't see my dog to let me know so I could take her somewhere else. (Which they had offered) The receptionist said she would keep me updated.
Within 2 minutes of me pulling out of the parking lot I was called this time by the vet, scolding me on the phone telling me my dog is not critical and to learn to be patient. All while raising her voice with me tells me she's busy and will get to my dog when she gets to her, that I was told it could be up to 6 hours before my dog is taken care of. (Which I was never told, max I was told was a 2 hour wait.) Then she proceeded to get angry and tell me to just go ahead and pick up my dog if I have a problem.
Little did she know I had already turned back around to get my dog. When they brought her out her eyes were weepy from crying. I was so disgusted with how this vet treated me and talked about my dog. She turned away a paying customer all for being concerned about their dog. Not the kind of vet I will be going to ever again. Unprofessional disrespectful and childish behavior. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere who respects you and your pets.

We have been to Valley Central three times over the past few years. They were kind, considerate and went above and beyond for out 15yr.old Girl. Heartbreaking as it was, they treated us with such care. I wish I could remember the young lady who took care of the foot prints. She even baked it for me since I'm disabled and she dropped it off on her way home for us.
The wildflowers we're so sweet. I don't think their prices are over the top. They gave us a military discount and it was worth every penny for the kind of care we got. Thank you all for all you do! Here's a picture of our beloved Lizzy B.

This would be a 5 star review as the doctor whom my dog saw was very helpful and very caring about my dogs needs. I wish I could give this hospital two reviews because I would give the vets 100% across the board. The reason for my 2 star review is for the terrible receptionist. I had called this morning in need of some emergency help. This would have been my second time at this hospital.
My dog has a minor soft tissue tear in her knee which as you can imagine, leaves her in pain and swelling around the area. I called asking for some emergency help and/or a refill on her medications to at least keep her out of pain. The very rude receptionist was not only nasty, but also extremely sort tempered and could care less that my dog needed help and quickly.
She explained in a rude way that she didn't know when our vet would be back in the office and I simply was not able to get the care my dog needed let alone her medications. I could however make another appointment and wait my turn. Once again, we needed emergency help. She didn't care one bit about my dogs needs. I told the receptionist, because her lack of care my dog is left suffering with no help.
Let me remind you that we have already established a relationship with the doctor we saw, but that didn't matter. My dog and I are still left in the dust (even though we had been a patient there no more than 2 weeks ago) with no help of any kind. Her last response was I need to go find a vet. When a patient needs emergency help that's the last thing you want to hear.
This is why I came to them in the first place. We needed emergency help for the pain and swelling. As I stated this review excludes the doctors who work there. Their terrible and uncaring receptionist should not be allowed to work there let alone speak to patients in desperate need of help. I'm very disappointed by the terrible quality of people who work there.

I would like to thank the staff here for their exemplary behavior. I will definitely return to this location in the case of a future emergency. I arrived with my dog after the dog had eaten rodenticide. I was in a panic and every staff member there treated me with respect and understanding. Dr. Mueller was my veterinarian. She was willing to listen to my concerns as the owner and did not dismiss me out of hand. She explained her diagnosis completely and made certain that I understood every aspect of treatment. I would ask for her again in a heartbeat.

Valley Central Animal Hospital is amazing! One of our family dogs had to go in for an emergency visit. They saw Lily immediately, were in contact with us as soon as they had an update, and were reasonable financially. For an emergency visit, xrays, thorough lab work up, mild sedation, meds, splint, and sutures it was $1,200. My boxer was seen there by Dr Clifford 8 years ago for cancer. Oliver is now 12 because Dr Clifford gave us a chance (I was a wreck)! I highly recommend this animal hospital for any of your pet's needs!

This is my second experience with Valley Central; both were emergencies, and both times they came through for me. On my most recent visit, under the most trying of circumstances, EVERYONE at Valley Central was wonderful. Professional, human, warm, caring, compassionate. From the nice people at the front desk to the nurse, doctor, and techs. I also found the charges for the required treatments to be very reasonable. Thank you.
