Brought in our sick pup as an emergency situation on Saturday as we were vacationing at Donner lake for the weekend. Doctor H was on it and ran a bunch of tests to figure out what was going on with our Kingsley. We appreciate the care and urgency and found out our boy had mild - moderate case of pancreatitis. After given meds and new food he is already on the mend. Bravo to the entire staff and to Doctor H for all that you did and do. We appreciate you! Many Thanks, Rebecca & Max

We have been taking our pitbull here for years and have had absolutely amazing service and care. Dr. Vanini and her staff have taken such amazing care of our girl at every visit. Everyone in this office is kind, caring, respectful, and professional. It is so comforting to know when I drop my dog off for her visits every couple weeks that she is spoiled there as much as she is at home. I would recommend this veterinary hospital to anyone.

Our normal vet couldn't see our dog who had a badly broken and bleeding nail and needed to see a vet semi-but-not-terribly urgently. I called Donner Truckee Vet and they told me it would be $175 for an emergency visit. I dropped our dog off. When my wife picked him up a few hours later the bill was $900. They never mentioned any further charges at check-in or with a courtesy call to authorize expensive treatment (which even my mechanic does).
Among other things, they went ahead with costly x-rays without authorization from us. They even had the gall to itemize "TLC" at $0 at the end of a ridiculous bill. Please set proper expectations and give people a chance to authorize expensive treatments especially if you hadn't discussed in advance. Shame on me for trusting people to be forthcoming. I feel scammed.

We were in Truckee on vacation and my 13 year old Aussie became lethargic and stopped eating and drinking. I was ready to drive back home when I found the vet. They saw her that day and determined that she had an abscess on her neck. The clinic and vet treated her (and her panicked mom) with kindness and caring professionalism. They answered my questions, treated her with antibiotics and she started getting better the next day. Truly a lifesaver!

I have taken our Havanese puppies here for several well checks and for a couple urgent visits. The staff is friendly and they were able to get us in on short notice when we needed it. The vets are knowledgeable and responsive, they even called the day after our visit to see how our pup was doing. I requested a titer test before continuing the series of puppy vaccines and they were very accommodating. I would recommend their services!

Brought my puppy here for vaccinations, and wasn't impressed. They walked him from the parking lot to inside rather than carry him, even though the pets with parvo/ other diseases are walking on the same floor. It's $65 for the exam, but the vet simply calls us on the phone and says "He's lovely, any questions?" I felt rushed and like they weren't giving us enough info.
They should elaborate on the puppy's health or at least give a wellness print out if they're going to be curt on the phone. We went to Sierra pet clinic for his 2nd round of shots and it was the opposite - vet came out to talk to us, give us info, carried the pup around, and the prices were fair. 3rd round of shots we didn't schedule in time and Donner was the only one with openings, but thought we wouldn't have to pay for a wellness check again. We were wrong, $50 for a recheck, then the lepto shot was twice the price we paid at the other clinic. Would not recommend.

I was able to get my puppy into the clinic to be seen right away. We are from out of town but she developed some symptoms that made us very uneasy.the clinic gave us an emergency appointment and was incredibly professional and responsive to us. They even followed up the next day to see how she was feeling. We are big fans of this clinic!

I was very disappointed in the treatment of my dog. He had cancer but the doctor misdiagnosed his condition as rat poisoning. My initial feelings were that the vet was young and inexperienced. She should have seen and known that my breed of dog is very susceptible to a specific type of cancer. She didn't see it when she gave the dog a sonar gram and probably didn't request the correct blood tests.
I also got the feeling she was ignoring my description of my dog's condition and symptoms. My dog was kept overnight and given medical treatment for poisoning. One week later the dog got worse. I went back to them and ended up taking the dog home. The next day I had to take him to Reno, because Donner-Truckee Vet was closed. The vet in Reno immediately diagnosed the cancer, and a simple blood test confirmed it.
My beautiful dog died 5 days later. I won't go back to Donner Truckee for any serious problem with my pets. Some of the staff just aren't qualified to be allowed to make diagnoses. They were not responsible for my dog dying, but they charged me a lot of money and caused me a lot of stress and lost time for nothing. Also, my dog was suffering throughout the misdiagnosis and misguided medical treatment they gave him for rat poisoning. Not acceptable.

Love this vet hospital! Nedra and Molly are always amazing at the front desk! We've been bringing our animals here for years and years. Always great vets and always easy to get appointments. So happy they have the ER too and have had to use it! Recently our lab dog had surgery and Liz did a fantastic job rehabbing. She's so much more comfortable know. Also our dogs come home so happy from the B&B (I think they prefer to live there vs our home!).
