I took my cat here because he was very lethargic and had a fever. They told me that his fever was 106* (102* is normal for a cat) and they told me they would need to keep him for treatment. During the 2.5 days he was there they never called me once for an update. I however called and every time was told her was still running a fever “with an unknown cause.” On Saturday I got a call that I could come get my baby because he was doing much better.
They made me pay before I could even see him and brought him to me with him shoved face first time the carrier. The moment I turned him around I could see something was wrong. He was weak, could barely meow or hold his head up and was clear struggling to breathe. I immediately went to another vet and was told within 30 mins that my cat had large amounts of fluid on his lungs, pneumonia and a UTI.
Upon looking at the bill (which was approx $500) I learned that Governor’s Choice only did blood work and although the did give my cat antibiotics and fluids they did not do any other testing. NO X-RAYS, URINE OR STOOL SAMPLE, just blood work. After speaking to multiple vets it was confirmed this would have been basic patient care for a animal with an unknown cause of fever.
The reason it remained unknown was the vet NEVER checked. If they would have done an X-ray they would have known that the cat was having lung issues and they would not have pumped him with fluid for two days.
Sadly after leaving this vet office my baby struggled and despite attempts by the second vets office and the emergency vets office, he had to much pressure on his heart and essentially drown in his own fluids.
Barely over 24 hours after leaving their office he passed. On Monday, I brought the situation to the attention of the staff Governor’s Choice they refused to acknowledge their mistakes despite my detailed documentation and told me they would contact the vet for permission to refund my money. Over the next hours they had multiple staff members contact me attempting to defend what they had done(or not done).
One staff member called to tell me to get an autopsy to prove what had happened (as a request of the vet) and another called me to tell me they couldn’t contract the vet till Wednesday but would discuss this “situation”. The second woman called multiple times despite me telling her on the first call not to contact me again. They also called the other vets offices attempting “to get the whole story” yet both offices confirmed they also spent the conversation making excuses and covering their own tails.
At no point have I received sympathy or even an apology from the staff of Governors Choice or heard from the vet. At this point it’s impossible to know if my cat would have survived but it was their lack of basic care and compassion that caused him to suffered for days. If they would have done the basics on day 1 things would have been different.
My baby was clearly struggling to breathe and they ignored it. Sadly since my baby passed I have had multiple people from the community tell me how this vet almost killed or did kill their animals. Save you money, time and pets life and go somewhere else!!

I brought my cat in for a checkup recently. I have been here a couple times over the past year. The first time I thought she had an infection so I brought her in, but she was fine. The second time I brought her in to get her yearly shots and rabies shot. The staff is always very friendly and caring towards both me and my cat. I have no complaints thus far despite some of the other reviews I've seen. Pricing is also seems decent and fair for the good quality of pet care you receive.

I have used Governors Choice for years. They have fixed several of my dogs and cats. The staff is always so kind and so caring. I took my cat in which was like 9 years old at the time I think, because he seemed in pain, wouldn't eat or drink. Didn't want to be touched. He was swatting at us a lot. The doctor said they were going to test for feline leukemia first to see if that is why he was acting like that.
If that was what he had, they weren't going to bother with any other tests. If that wasn't what was wrong then they would do other tests to find out the problem. They called me within a couple hours and told me he did have feline leukemia. She was so sweet through it all. Told me how sorry she was and that she knows that's not what I wanted to hear.
So I asked her, what my next step was, what I needed to do. She recommended having him put down. So she told me I could pick.him up and being him home to say our goodbyes. So that is what I did. I cried the whole time at the vet when I took him back to put him down. They were so understanding and so caring. They called Paws Memorial for me and made arrangements to have his body picked up and cremated.
Then Paws delivered him back to my house. My chihuahua got sick and we took him in as well. They kept him overnight on IV fluids and ran tests as well. He didn't make it through the night. They also arranged for Paws to pick him up and they delivered him back to the vet clinic for me to pick up. I will always recommend this vet. The staff is incredible

Dr never TOUCHED my dog, took her all of half a minute to determine she HAD TO HAVE SURGERY TO FIX THE EAR INFECTION. When questioned about specifics, she was very quick to send in her tech to do the explaining and of course, estimate for surgery. $40 for about 30 seconds of 'veterinary care' from a place that claims "it is through communicating with you, the pet owner, that we can both work together to give your pet a happy and healthy home environment". Walked in with a dog with a hematoma on her ear, left without it even being TOUCHED by the vet....yeah, real CARE!
Unless you hate your pet, DO NOT BRING THEM HERE. It took longer for them to print the bill for 'office visit' than the Vet took to even glance in the direction of my dog in her exam room, which by the way was where the dogs are WEIGHED, they couldn't even put us into a proper EXAM area. HORRIBLE treatment and very VERY rude staff/Dr.
