I am Dr. Hewitt-Spears and I have been working with animals of all kinds for more than 25 years. I started out as a kennel assistant, worked as a veterinary technician and eventually held externships during veterinary school at the San Francisco Zoo and The Avian and Exotics Clinic in Monterey, California. We appreciate the opportunity to give you a peek at who we are at Quail Ridge Animal Hospital. Being a veterinary practice in Southern Carson City, we have the wonderful opportunity to fill a niche needed in our community.

Hi there, I have had the pleasure of being the Practice Manger at Quail Ridge Animal Hospital since Aug. of 2006. My husband John & I have the joy of sharing our home with our furry family in the beautiful Carson Valley & we are lucky enough to have our daughter Sydney and granddaughter MacKenzie living close by so we can share in all their special moments.
If you are visiting us for the first time, please fill out a client information sheet upon arrival at your first visit. Please remember, All Pets MUST be up to date on required vaccines and current with their annual exam prior to boarding. This ensures a healthy stay for your pets at our hospital. If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call.
We offer veterinary supervised boarding for small dogs (under 15 pounds), cats, and exotic animals at Quail Ridge Animal Hospital. Our Kennels are indoors only and climate controlled for even temperatures year round. We provide food and bedding unless your pet requires a special diet. You are welcome to bring their bedding and toys but we are not responsible for items damaged by your pet.

Thank you thank you thank you. You don't know how heartbreaking it is to hear" I'm sorry we can't help you" after a receptionist answers the phone and says welcome to blah blah blah animal clinic "how can I help you? "
Yesterday I was at my wits end. My daughter was crying. Her cat ( indoor) had a cut on his back ( unknown origin) that we were watching, to see what would happen for a few days.. After the cat started showing signs of listlessness yesterday, we thought we would need to take him in for care. Every Animal emergent care yesterday in Reno, Nevada answered the phone nicely said "I'm sorry we can't help you unless you want to book appointment 2 weeks out or go 24 Emergency care ..wait three to six hours in your car and they'll will get to you when we can n in this heat with a sick pet..SERIOUSLY?
I decided to go to the next county ..I called Quail Ridge animal Hospital ..the girl was really nice and I apologize for being a little pushy but I had had it at that point... She said " we could get you in at 12:40 PM today"... My daughters cat was treated with the upmost care and consideration... Was given antibiotics... and the wound was cleaned. I. can't say how much I appreciate that thoughtfulness and kindness, along with professionalism... Again, it's so sad that Reno is becoming one of the best places to live and you can't even get emergency care for the same day. unless you want to pay a lot of money or wait in your car in the heat...
I will use Quail Ridge and refer Quail Ridge to any one who needs EXCELLENT emergency care for their pet. Thank you thank you , thank you...

I've taken my dog here for the last almost 2 years, and my Fiance has taken his dog here for the last 6 years. This is a good vet clinic and i was very happy with the service. Until today when i brought my dog only to find they don't take care credit anymore without any notice to their customers. very disappointed and will most likely be moving vets.

I'm one of the most demanding veterinary clients in the country since I work with exotic animals, particularly wolves. Lesli and her team are remarkable. They've cured my malamute's limp with stem cells and PRP, repaired a folding fracture to one of my wolves' hips, and Dr. Hewitt handles my most challenging animal, a female wolf, with the skill of a wilderness technician.
I spend over $20,000 per year just on the preventative care for my animals. I could go anywhere (and have) to make sure my canine family gets the absolute premium treatment at every turn. While I live in Tahoe, I gladly make the drive to Carson City to see the amazing people at Quail Ridge. If Dr. Hewitt were an MD, she'd be my physician. I love these people. They're simply the best dog-repair shop in the country!
