My dog and I LOVE East Boston Animal Hospital! I've been taking my dog here for 2+ years and they've always treated her like part of their own family. They truly care for the animals and ensure your pet is comfortable and well taken care of. Dr Chopra and all the staff members were amazing. I would recommend East Boston hospital to anyone looking for a reliable, trustworthy vet.

Only a second star because they didn't actually hurt my cats. They did, however, unnecessarily give one of my cats a second 3-year rabies shot when she had gotten one 11 months earlier. We were new patients and they were given her medical records which someone clearly did not read. Luckily, it wasn't harmful but it was still an unnecessary vaccine (that I also paid for).
I also found them to be a bit gruff and not as gentle with my cats, which is technically fine but having experienced vets with a much gentler handling/bedside manner with my cats, I really don't prefer their methods and think it's good for people to know what they're getting.

This was the last time I'll take my dog here. We went for a cleaning, and the Dr. removed 15 teeth at a cost of nearly $1600 WITHOUT so much as a phone call to advise us of the cost or ask for permission. When we did pick up our pup, she was covered in urine and appeared quite obviously distressed. We've gone here for years and frequently been dissatisfied, but resigned to the Dr.'s pressure and sales pitches. No more.

The good - the doctor my dog had is patient and answers my questions with appreciated details. The horrible - the reception is rude and never listens to your request. I don't know if it is the nurse or the reception's fault, but they can never seem to remember how much medication my dog should get and keep asking me to come back and get more course of antibiotics for treating Giardia without even retesting fecal sample. Overuse of antibiotics will ruin pet's health! So irresponsible!

Highly recommend! One of the worst things about moving to a new area is finding a new vet, and I was super lucky to stumble on East Boston Animal Hospital! The staff is extremely friendly and the vet is super knowledgeable and helpful. My dog was diagnosed with a chronic illness this year, and I really appreciate how attentive and reassuring the vet is when it comes to our visits!

My puppy has been going here for 4 months now. Really kind staff and very professional vet who asks questions that instill confidence. Dr. Chopra even found a tiny umbilical hernia that was missed by 4 other vets my dog had seen during the adoption process and then for vaccines with me prior to my first well appointment at East Boston Animal Hospital.
Very approachable and my pup likes it there. I also like that they have the capability to do surgery there and have after hours emergency also. I'd rather, if my pup needed, to see someone who was familiar with him or that vet decides to refer for specialty care if necessary. That way my dog and me are comfortable and have rapport in the event of an emergency.
They are doing renovations currently, and I don't know if that impacts the waiting area or not- but the shape of the waiting room doesn't allow for much space. If you have a reactive dog you might want to see the space or discuss with the staff to arrange an appointment during a non-hectic time. So far I have only been in for early appointments and it is usually all puppies first thing in the morning, all well behaved.
I recommend! Oh I almost forgot, pricing is very fair. They don't charge an office visit if it is just shots etc w a tech. They are responsive and kind. And my puppy wiggles his brains out for the vet techs he has had in the past for shots etc, so I know he was treated well when he was taken back for his shots!

My dog of 5 years always happy & jumping around the house suddenly was limping. I brought him to East Boston Animal Hospital & immediately they squeezed us in. Dr Chopra & the staff aside from Professional are 100% animal loving people, from the front desk to the technician they took great care of my Miguelito and I was happy to find out all he needed was a nail trimming he had a hangnail. They could have charged anything they wanted for an emergency but the pricing was fair and the peace of mind they gave me was priceless. Thank You Dr & Team!

My pup needed to get his regular examination and yearly vaccinations in October. Being new in the area I was looking for a good Animal Hospital but in vain. I called several vets in the area(sorted by distance) but no one had any free slots until next year and some of them just blantly cut the call. Then one day suddenly I just came across East Boston Animal Hospital, I called and wallaa!
Not only did I get an appointment but they were kind enough to adjust the timings as per my request. We had our 1st visit 1. Welcoming people at reception 2. Dr. Chopra and his assistant dr were amazing with the dog 3. Quick and informative 4. Very well handled the whole visit! 100% recommended

Moved here from out of state and saw good reviews- I didn't look far enough into them. The good- reception girls are so incredibly sweet. The horrible- Brought my dog in for an ongoing medical problem. I brought my dog in with previous medical documentation and explained what was going on. The vet automatically tried to push my dog into a round of surgeries without any tests done or really answering any of my questions or addressing the concerns in front of him when I was there to discuss possible end of life as my last vet recommended.
He asked his tech to take my dog in the back and do a round of labs and told me to get the results I'd just have to keep calling and waiting on hold until someone eventually takes me off hold and answers and immediately started talking to me about his vacation -nothing else. The part I had a major problem with is that when I initially called I was quoted a price between "$60-80".
When it came time to pay they told me I owe $325. When I asked what the heck that was for and they stated extra tests. A woman in the waiting area even stood up and said they were over charging me. I told them I didn't feel comfortable with the way it was conducted and asked them to cancel her surgeries and tests and I would go elsewhere. At this point the tech went in the back and loudly/very sarcastically said "WELL I GUESS WERE JUST THROWING NIKKIS BLOOD AWAY" very aware that I could hear. I understand holidays are stressful but the level of disrespect I felt during an already difficult time was unparalleled. I wouldn't go back here if it was my only choice.

We've been bringing our cat to East Boston Animal Hospital for a few years now, and we've have had nothing but great experiences. Their prices are fair, the techs are very kind and skilled, and Dr. Chopra is clearly very knowledgable, compassionate, and pragmatic. Even our very old and grouchy cat is a big fan of Dr. Chopra! Most importantly, she survived a life-threatening health scare a few years ago because of his extremely prompt and thorough emergency care.
She stayed in the hospital for about a week to recover, during which time they helped me visit her, answered all my worried questions, and cared for her as if she was their own. Again, I can't speak highly enough of the level of care provided at East Boston Animal Hospital!

The quality of care isn't here. Sawyer wanted my cat to stay over night for more money even when others there knew it wasn't best. sawyer didn't even complete what my cat went in for and was just tramaizsed by the process. i heard horror stories about Dr Sawyer after i brought my cat there. Sawyer didn't see that my friends dog had bloat when he went to him, she had to point out that he looked fat. sawyer was sending them out when she said that, and if she didn't the dog would be dead. i don't believe my cat got the care he needed and i was treated like a money bag coming in the door.

Took our golden puppy here as it had good reviews and was super convenient to where we lived. They seem great on the phone but once you get there it's so unprofessional and stressful. Our puppy had to get their deworming medication through them, and when we went to pick it up they would ask US what the dog needed. We are not the vet, you are?! Why would you ask a patient what treatment they need?
We have no idea what dosage or medication name is needed. When we told them we needed his intestinal deworming medication they gave us heart worm medication instead, so we had to go back a third time just to get what we actually needed. The doctor is nice but talks WAY too fast and doesn't explain things well at all even when you ask him to a million times. We went here twice and immediately decided to switch to a different vet after the second visit. Trust me, do not go here, go to Charleston Vet instead.

They try to get you in here if you have an emergency + they can handle a lot of emergencies during business hours. The downside is that they accommodate a lot of animals and have no respect for client schedules and time--never an acknowledgement or apology for hour+ waits. Give yourself 2 hours for all appointments. Dr. Chopra is a kind and skilled veterinarian.
