Periodontal (gum) disease is one of the most common diseases encountered in veterinary medicine. Plaque and tartar accumulate on your pet's teeth providing a foothold for bacteria to begin infecting gums and roots of teeth, which results in tooth loss and pain. The infection around teeth and gums can allow bacteria to enter the bloodstream and infect major organs such as the kidney and heart, often resulting in failure.

I brought my dog in and she had a collar on that apparently one of the vets didn't like. The collar has a hardware link connected to it that is stuck and I can't get off. We initially put it on there maybe 7 years ago for another dog because the leash we had didnt have a swivel so we used it to connect the leash to the collar as it was the only thing we had at the time.
My dogs only wear collars when I take them to the vet. But the vet seemed to want to keep commenting on the link and while we were in our room I saw her pointing it out to the guy with the dreadlocks that worked there. It was very off-putting and rude and made me uncomfortable. SN: I never indicated that it was today. It was yesterday. No apology or anything shows how much they actually care. Just trying to save face. Anyway, I'll be going to North Richland Hills from here on out.

The staff here is nice enough but their office administration is lacking. Have tried three times to get put on a call notification list for my pup without success. Have called and left messages and don't get return calls. And also, referred a friend whose online appointment was never even looked at.

I have brought all of my pups here for exams and they are super nice here. My Kinnie girl had a bad ear infection because of the recent ice storm, the vet tech (sorry I forgot her name) was very sweet and was patient with Kinnie. The other vet tech that helped with the nail trimming was nice too! Dr. Ward was very sweet and knowledgeable. Kinnie is all better thanks to you guys! Thank you guys!

Took my little guy in for an emergency dental check-up, and Dr. Ward was quick in her assessment, explanation of cause and what would be required to treat my baby. He was otherwise healthy. I've always received great care here and expect that nothing will go wrong going forward. All the Technicians are nice and they keep a clean facility. Update 2/12/2022 new visit, and this guy did great. Doctor was very caring and so we're the other staff. So happy that my little guy is gonna be around for a long time.

When you walk in this establishment you are never greeted by the reception that sit there and there's usually 2 of them nobody smiles they'll look at you and keep doing what they're doing one of the most unfriendly vet clinics I been to. Then the tech, well I guess thats what she was.walks in doesn't have anything to say and walked over to our German shepherd and yanked him at the base of the tail said she was going to get his temp.
Lucky for her I had a hold of him or she would have got stitches. I told her good way to get bit. Plus he had just had surgery When vet walks in she ne ver greets or has much to say. We left. My conclusions are the people that works there hates their jobs. To many other vet offices to go to

Actually I just read this response today. Actually I had 2 dogs I brought here, Ruthie and Libby. Last thanksgiving, I brought my very sick, 14 year old dog in to be euthanized. It was Ruthie, day before Thanksgiving. The lady doctor was very cold at a very hard time for me. Ruthie was euthanized. It was a year ago, so you had seen one of my dogs since 2019. I am happy that you have some good reviews, but I wished you had looked at your records to see I had 2 dogs. Thank you for your time.

Our little Bella had an emergency 2 days ago. They got her straight in. Her heart stopped, but they brought her back and saved her. They took such excellent care of her AND us. They were patient, gentle and answered all of our questions regarding her diagnosis and medication. We were prepared to break the bank, given the circumstances. But the prices were extremely fair. We received a follow up call yesterday and we were told to expect other follow up calls to make sure Bella is doing well. We've found our new care team for our fur babies.

Unfortunately, I had to bring my beloved almost 16 year old cat, Herman, to see Dr. Ward. What an amazing place with such a kind receptionist, technician, and veterinarian. Everyone was so kind and patient. He was treated gently and no one rushed me and explained each and every detail to me. It was an unfortunate event due to the fact that my cat had to be euthanized.

They charged for for a service they did not provide. I was charged for a Vet Exam. We never saw a Vet and the tech was only gone about 10 minutes. In addition, i had x rays of my dog to see how many puppies she is having (she is a small dog) and the x rays are very dark and blurry! They refused to do them over unless i paid them again In addition, I do NOT think that someone with blue and green hair with rings hanging out of her nose creates a Professional Experience.

Employees they do not know what they're doing. Doctor/owner is a very nice guy but doesn't know too much neither. Spent over $1,400 and 3 day visits, still, no one has a clue to what my pet needs. Brought it to their attention to see if there was some way of refunding a small portion of the fee for not knowing what is wrong but they declined. So i took my pet to another clinic and found the problem within 7 hours. But if you need simple vet care, they should be able to help you.

I adopted a miniature schnauzer from Dallas, TX (who was neglected by previous owners). I needed my pup flown to CA so my new beloved dog had to be checked out (Spring 2019). The vet host & their staff treated my friend & new pup great! They took well detailed notes, check on my friend & pup. I really appreciate their care. Thank you all! P.S. I do not agree with cropping dogs ears (done by previous owners).

Desperate Veterinarian. Finding the best care of our fur babies is not always easy.i have decided to ask questions 1st before taking my kitties in. Family Pet Care in FTW had a great website so I met with the vet. I was charged their $55 Wellness Exam Fee. I didn't bring my kitties, it was just a 10 minute conversation between myself and the vet.
I understand it's their time, my husband said they should've told me before the visit that they would charge me to talk to me. These were general questions, such as what's your experience with cats vs dogs, how do you monitor pets while under anesthesia, etc. They close at 7pm and my appt was at 6pm. I was seen at 6:20pm and at 6:30pm, the vet said she had another appt., yet I saw her leave through the side door.
The vet only has 5 yrs experience, which for a 12 yr old cat going under anesthesia is not something I'm comfortable with. Their is supposed to be a 3 week wait time after vaccines before doing anesthesia as to not put to much stress on the cats immune system, but they were wanting to do it right away. Their 5pm appt cancelled, so I guess they decided to use me to make up for it.

Baffled by their lack of knowledge, attention to detail. I was reminded way too early to come in for bordatella vaccination for my pup. I paid for the 1-year injection. When I called to clear up. They stated, "he needs both the 1 year vaccination and 6 month nasal bordatella. To prevent different things." This is 100%, completely, absolutely untrue. Bordatella vaccine is hardly useful in the first place. He surely doesn't need a double dose. These people are MONEY HUNGRY. Watch out!

I just found out that this Vet donated his services discounted to Urgent Animal's of Fort Worth and to Fort Worth Animal Shelter. Take my word for it this is the guy you want taking care of your dogs Dr. Morton and why you ask because you want a Vet who gives back and loves animals and wants them to live and it isn't about the big check! I give him 5 starts for acts of service!

I took my fur-baby Murphy to Family Pet Care when he hurt his back because their location was near my house. I was terrified that the diagnosis was going to be an expensive surgery or euthanasia. Dr. Coville treated Murphy and I thought did a very thorough job diagnosing the problem. She was also very nice, very personable, and obviously very concerned about Murphy's comfort.
She prescribed meds and even made recommendations for a canine chiropractor. She also provided reading material and research on his condition (cervical disk disease) so that I would be well-informed as to what was going on with my pup. There was no mention of surgery or euthanasia, which was an enormous relief. A week later, Murphy is up and moving again.
He will never be as agile or rambunctious as he used to be, but his quality of life has definitely improved and he is no longer in constant pain. I really liked Dr. Coville and definitely recommend her as a vet. Family Pet Care loses stars for me because it was sooo expensive. Exam, X-ray, bloodwork.my bill was almost $600. And they charged me more because they couldn't get a good x-ray and had to sedate him.
That is more than my mortgage. Obviously, I would pay it again for Murphy's health and comfort, but it is very steep. Also, we were there for almost three hours! And they told me that they would get back to me that day with blood work results, but I didn't hear from them until the next day. And when they did call, it was a completely different vet (that I never even met) and not Dr. Coville. So, all in all, while I did like Dr. Coville, I'm not sure if I will go back to Family Pet Care for future care of my animals. But, I do appreciate that they helped my Murphy feel better.

We recently moved to this area and, unfortunately I chose this vet based on the great reviews on Yelp. My mom brought her 12 year old poodle here with a hematoma on his ear. He's had terrible allergies for years too. My mom (who lives on social security) was told in the first visit, we had two options. Surgery to remove the hematoma ($800) or $350 to drain it.
The vet went into great detail about a prior customer who chose the $350 option and how her dog's hematoma burst and got blood floor to ceiling in her home. She insisted surgery was the best option, but our dog needed 2 weeks of antibiotics to heal the infection first. My mom was so worried and stressed the whole two weeks while we shopped around to find better pricing. (Two vets quoted $350 for the surgery, BTW).
She went back after the 2 weeks to have it rechecked and we decided it was worth the office visit fee to get more allergy meds. Second visit-confronted the vet about the high prices and now she says sometimes hematomas go away on their own, and she wouldn't give allergy meds unless we came back in for another (third) visit, and obvious third office visit fee.
This place takes total advantage of their customers and is one of the highest priced vets in a 30 mile radius! Preying on the emotional connection we have with our pets. I recommend staying away from these people.

I want to thank you for the past 8 years of taking care of my babies Bear and Bella. You take care of the babies and there owners. You show caring and empathy. I would recommend you to anyone. Your staff is great. Every time I have come in you explain what is needed. You give the price once we have agreed you provide the service then ask for payment.
You have never rushed in and out. You even comforted my daughter when Bear had to have a happy shot to get his ears done. Anyone who reads other posts on here. Judge for yourself not by what someone else has said. You will be happy with the service Family Pet Care gives.

We have been using Family Pet Care for years. I think over 15. They are a local business and are convenient in case of emergency or needed scheduled pet care. They try to accommodate our schedules. The facility is always clean and odor free as much as an animal clinic can be. They added a larger kennel area and have a large open fenced area for a dog run.

I've had all my animals come to this vet. I currently have just one cat and i take her about once a month to get her nails trimmed and they're very nice and talk about how much they love her. The staff is very friendly. The only problems I've ever had is they forgot to give my cat one of her yearly shots and I had to go back to do it, and when we had her fixed they put a cone one her which I don't care for on cats because she just tried to back out of it and it looked so sad but it wasn't a big deal we just put an ace bandage around her and at one point put a onesie on her and she was fine.

Dr. Morton and his staff are amazing and deeply caring folks, they gave so much of themselves to help Sandy, a dog who was shot in the head. Family Pet Care has cared for all my dogs and all my fosters, and I've recommended them to many others and other rescues I've worked with. The staff is very knowledgeable and compassionate. They've expanded their clinic to include a larger boarding facility, and they have their own dog park to exercise the dogs in their care

I have personally seen how bad rescue dogs are treated here! I took one of my foster dogs there when he began coughing & sneezing badly and at the time i had another dog with a very bad immune system who could not be exposed to anything. They told me he had a URI and was contagious and had to be on med & quarantined again after already having been on them 2 weeks prior to that.
So 2 weeks went by with me constantly checking on him and still he was to sick to come home i finally took him out of there and to another vet who determined he just had allergies! I was very upset to learn that i had left him there for so long especially after seeing how the dogs were kept! They had large dogs in very small cages in a horrible and hot back room!
Not to mention there were dogs in the bathroom! one whining so bad from being lonely! Some of the staff were very polite like the ladies at the front desk and some of the kennel tech however i would NOT recommend them because of the things I've witnessed and the conditions the dogs were kept.

I went to Family Pet Care for several years. They took good care of my kitty until the end. From the beginning it was apparent he wasn't going to approach this "trip to the vet" stuff with anything less than out and out rage. There were several times we had to take care of his visit over two separate visits as he'd become quite agitated.
He got a bit of a reputation. Once it was apparent that he wouldn't be with us much longer, the staff was supportive and concerned with his status as we just tried to keep him comfortable until quality of life wasn't outweighing the effect of his disease. They were always respectful and caring.

I found one of the young Technicians (I'm a senior citizen and she appears young enough to be my daughter) on at least two separate occasions to be flippant, void of compassion and bedside manner, and seemingly only interested in recommending procedures for my pet that would unnessisarily add to my bill. I got a sense that this was perhaps the true theme of the clinic as surely this person's attributes could have been detected in the hiring process.
When it has been necessary to leave any of my pets for treatment or even grooming in excess of three or four hours, they cannot get to the water bowl fast enough when they get home. When we got home, they were so thirsty that I was unable to keep enough water in the bowl, and finally had to place another bowl down and fill it with water. One of my pets drank the water so fast that he regurgitated the water he drank before beginning to drink again.
The compassion that is advocated at this clinic was not evident. I do recognize that, of course, no business can operate without profiting, not all clients/customers are well to do in these times of recession and some of us own more than one pet. People love their pets and need/seek loving and careing atmosphere for them when they are ill. If any of these qualities are important to you as a consumer, I do not recommend this establishment.
