Brought my dog in for a cydapoint shot. Although, I didn't go back with the tech, This is one of the only vets who let you go back to observe the vets as they diagnose. I love that.! The vets are excellent as well. They still make you wear masks in the office which is kind of silly, but overall it's a great and caring place.

Not really a fan. I switched vets after coming here a few years. Every appointment felt rushed and the owner was completely awful to talk to. She is very judgmental and does not know how to talk to clients. I kept coming for Dr. Smith but eventually still was unhappy as I often felt rushed and unheard at times. Dr. Smith is great though, I think there's just a short and overload on vets across the board. The other staff here are great too.

After years of taking our 2 shelter rescue cats for cutting nails (among other services, ) I was told today they no longer take appointments, they are too busy with other vet issues and pets. I don't know how some places stay in business with poor service, I would not go back. Now I have to find another place to get their nails trimmed.

I cannot thank Mapleshade Animal Hospital's Veterinarians and staff enough for their care and compassion. In July of 2020 our furry family member (orange tabby cat) of 13 years had to be put to sleep after a quick but devastating battle with a terminal heart tumor and rare disorder that was without a cure or even any way to manage the increasingly severe symptoms and pain.
Everyone in the family was shocked and grief-stricken, especially since our cat had only ever had the best of health for the prior 13 years. Over the course of his illness, Dr. Learman always promptly responded to my many frenzied and worried phone calls and emails describing symptoms and providing photos of symptom progression. She even drove to our house after hours to provide additional pain medication when his condition took a sudden extreme turn for the worse.
The vets at mapleshade left no stone unturned in trying to diagnose our cat's rare condition. Nothing could have made the loss not painful. Still, I was comforted that we and Mapleshade did everything we could to make him comfortable in his final days and send him off with dignity. Thank you, Mapleshade. Here's hoping I'm blessed enough to have another animal friend in my life again soon!

MapleShade Veterinary Animal Hospital will let your pet suffer and die before they will help Part I Because of limited characters this will be in several parts as the whole story needs to be told. I have never written a review before but the actions or should I say lack of actions by this group of veterinarians and their staff have me in disbelief and tears.
We have a 13 year old yorkie named Chico that has been a part of this family since he was 8 weeks old. He was given to my daughter for her 18th birthday. Therefore anyone reading this, pet owner or not, can imagine he is the crowned prince of this home. Recently when they were traveling to NJ to visit family Chico took ill. He had very little appetite, could not stand on his own, he was shaking uncontrollably and not very responsive.
He was rushed to a vet in NJ where he under went several tests, X-rays and given some meds to increase his appetite and ease his pain. My daughters were told he may have cancer or kidney failure. They were given instructions to get him an abdominal ultrasound when he got home to get a better view of what was going on. Here's where MapleShade comes in.
At some point we had trust in this facility. My daughter moved out of the area over a year ago and found it convenient to have his basic check ups and shots done at a local facility. Now she has moved to WV and not found a new vet center for Chico. We assumed that MapleShade would always be his home base for any serious issues as they were the ones we trusted to perform his surgery to remove his stones.
With that in mind I asked my daughter to send him here with her sister so he could be seen by them. My youngest took the reigns called MapleShade to ask if they could do his ultrasound they said no but recommended we take him to Med Vet in Manassas. We did. We also took all of Chico's records/results from the NJ Vet to MapleShade to review and update his records.
After his appointment with Med Vet his test results were sent to MapleShade for interpretation. This is where all their true colors came through. They are refusing to review the test and advise on the next steps for Chico. The only excuse was they had not referred us to Med Vet and they had not examined Chico in over a year. I was not polite in any way thereafter.
I did my best not to use my sentence enhancers but I could not control the volume of my voice. How do you tell someone you will not tell them what is happening with their loved one without a valid reason. What if I was new to the area and found their location online. Do you not help? I said If it is a liability issue I will sign a waiver if it's money issue I will pay it how much.
All the receptionist kept saying was the Drs note says-we did not refer him and we have not seen him in over a year. Wow. I asked to put the doctor on the line knowing he was not going to come from behind her skirt tail. Oh yea as she corrected me it's not a he. Really who cares "it" is supposed to be a professional there to help sick animals. They offered no resolution just refusal to assist.
They have every piece of information that was given to us including the invoice from the other clinic detailing all services rendered from the vet in NJ. They had that vets contact information if they needed any medical questions answered. Regardless, they took their stand and have chosen to allow Chico to continue to suffer and to keep us in the dark about what is truly going on with him.
This is like driving to the hospital for help but they refuse to see you because you did not arrive by the ambulance company that services that hospital or calling 911 because your home is on fire and the fire department watching your house burn because you did not donate to the fireman's fund that year. MapleShade Animal hospital is staffed with the worst group of people. If they cannot trust themselves to diagnose test and lab results from others in their profession then I sure in the hell cannot trust them.

Five stars isnt enough. I'm throwing names here's because they all deserve to be noticed! Appointment was made with Kelly and was a breeze. Upon arrival I was called by Carlie who checked us in and confirmed the details surrounding our visit which reassured me I had come to the correct place for my pet. Next up, I was personally greeted by Dr. Ken Smith and his assistant Nicole whom both made both myself and my dog Chauncey feel warm and welcomed.
We took a walk while he examined her finer attributes and then we got to work, the entire time keeping me near for comfort. Some meds were prescribed and brought out by Alexis who definitely offered knowledgeable insight to each med. Finally Leah called me promptly to gain payment which wasn't even bad considering the 5 star red carpet service my dog and I were offered. Thank you to Maple Shade Animal Hospital and your ability to care for us today.
