We're so happy you found us! Established in 1997 in Gold Run, CA, we were one of the first truly holistic veterinary clinics to serve the Sierra Foothills and beyond. Now located in Colfax, California, we practice integrative medicine and specialize in treating small animals with Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM).
Dr. Rena Ferreira, a gifted veterinarian also trained in acupuncture, had a ranch call practice caring mainly for horses, llamas, goats, sheep and cattle. Seeing the tremendous improvement resulting from acupuncture treatments on their large animals, many of her clients begged Dr. Rena to try it on their smaller companion animals.

This place does not even deserve ONE star, as far as grooming goes that is. I have been going here for the past couple of years and have never had a problem until today when I took my dog in to be groomed. She came home walking all wobbly, limping, acting like she was in pain and eyes glazed over. She is a senior dog. When I called to inquire what happened they told me nothing happened, perhaps it's because she's old and they did her in 3-4 different segments throughout the day.
She came home absolutely terrified and shaking and has been hiding since. She won't even let me touch her. They cannot tell me that NOTHING happened. I WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER TAKE MY DOGS HERE AGAIN. I feel she was abused in one way or another here. NEVER, not one single time when I have had her groomed anywhere has she come home like this. She can't even walk.
This was my first time taking her here for a grooming AND MY LAST. The technician who cut her SHOULD BE FIRED! They pretty much shaved her to the skin and there are rash marks. They didn't even bathe her. Isn't that the first step when you take your dog in to be groomed? I understand they don't specialize in grooming but considering THEY were the ones that suggested it, I assumed she was in good hands. I was wrong and I am beyond outraged. My dog is not herself at all.

Originally came here because I was on a time constraint and the usual place my family's always gone to was booked out. Read the positive reviews and hoped for the best. Well, it was a really good experience. Got my cat her necessary shot and checkup and ended up staying with them for her next shot too. Looks like we have a new primary vet in the family

This is one of those veterinarians who do not allow you to get your pet vaccinated without paying for the added expense of an annual checkup for each pet. (even though medical studies show that annual checkups do not statistically diminish the number of life-long hospitalizations or increase life longevity). When you have multiple pets and economic hardship, this puts an unnecessary - and in many cases insurmountable - economic barrier to providing for the most basic need of a pet: to be vaccinated.

My wife and I take our new Mini Aussie Puppy here and so far we love it. The technicians are kind and enthusiastic- they even sent us photos of our little man during his appt when we couldn't go inside. We love that they listen to our questions and don't make us feel like we are being annoying first time pet parents! I also appreciate that they are open to a more holistic form of veterinary care. Pricing isn't through the roof either. Thanks so much SAWC for your patience and willingness to work with us to give our boy the best care. We love your office and feel like we are in good hands :

Dr. Peggy is always so attentive. She takes the time to really listen to your concerns and answers questions in a professional manner, but in laymen's terms. Shirley is great with my kitty - even when he's acting like a brat. I was going to a vet's office just down the street before, but now that I know about Sierra Animal Wellness Center, I'd rather drive to Colfax instead. They take very good care of us.
