We love this place! I'm hesitant to write a great review because this place is already super popular, however they deserve it. They accept walk-ins which is really convenient, assuming you're ok to come at an off time, or be patient on a Saturday morning. We found them to be very friendly and nice with reasonably priced services.
We are a family owned and operated animal hospital practicing quality veterinary medicine in the Hudson County area for over 70 years. If you have a passion for animals and their people we would love to have you join our team. Imagine working for a company that practices the highest quality medicine, values the personal and professional growth of all staff members, and strives to never stop learning.
We will have staff members available to answer phones, refill medications, and help redirect our clients to one of our sister hospitals for care if needed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will keep you updated on any additional schedule changes. Bayonne Animal Hospital is home to a wide variety of healthcare services for pets, including general wellness, parasite prevention, vaccinations, surgery, and dentistry. We provide wellness care to help your companion stay protected from all kinds of illnesses and enjoy a full, happy life.
Animal Infirmary of Hoboken is proud to offer all the services your companion needs to enjoy a healthy, long, and pain-free life. Staying healthy requires routine checkups and maintenance. Our veterinarians and staff recommend annual checkups for your pet that include a physical examination, blood and fecal testing, parasite control, vaccinations, and diet counseling, if needed.

DO NOT GO TO THIS VET FOR EMERGENCIES! They are only open 3 days a week, (YES 3 DAYS A WEEK), do not take appointments, and do not show any care for your pet. I waited already a month for my dog's dental surgery. her teeth were literally falling out and bleeding. I went to another vet and they took her in ASAP. heights wouldnt even make an appointment for her because "they have more urgent surgeries",f or pets who called before me and said they would call back. They havent called back in more than a month.

This is my first time writing a review but I feel compelled because of our experience today. Our large breed dog woke up very unwell this morning and so we emailed the vet before opening that we had an emergency (they are our regular vet). We arrived at opening and explained the situation. They told us the earliest they would see our dog was 11am and showed no compassion whatsoever nor seemed to believe that our dog appeared to be dying.
Wouldn't even come to our car and inspect him. We raced to the Veterinary Emergency Group in Hoboken who were so kind. Our beloved dog had to be euthanized 1 hour after being turned away from The Heights as he had internal bleeding. The lack of kindness to us was astonishing, particularly given we we regular clients.

It is okay, i will be taking my cats there, they give clear instructions and help out a lot. The reason why I gave three stars is because The receptionist proceeded to pick up my cat from his carrier without my permission and kissed him i personally don't like when strangers and non vets go and grab my cat and start kissing them without permission.
I don't know her nor does she know me. Please train receptionists to be more professional to clients over the phone and in person. Overall was a good experience and my cat is okay, This is just a safety concern. She doesn't who don't know what the cat has and could be transferring that to other pets nor do I know what the receptionist has if she kisses over animals. Thank you for everything. ( I'm not trying to get this women fired or anything. I'm just concerned on the lack of training)

The service has become terrible through the years. Today my dog had an accident at the park, and since we've been visiting this vet for many years we took it there as fast as we could. When we got there there was no dogs inside and we asked if they could at least see my dog as an emergency and they immediately said no. They said there was somebody else coming soon and they didn't care of the pain my dog was having. They have become inhumane at this place.

Don't go here. First off their day-of scheduling system is so annoying, if you don't call at exactly 8am you can't get an appointment. Second, they are dumb. I took my dog for a spay consultation and they said she is about to go into heat so we have to put it off until after. I've never had a dog before, so I didn't know exactly what it looks like when they go into heat.
She never bled during this time and just seemed normal. I tried to bring her back 27 days later, but they wouldn't take her yet because it hasn't been 4 weeks -___-. I told them how she had no signs or blood and they said "well she probably just cleaned herself up" Ew? Don't say that about my cute dog? Then finally I brought her the next week and they said she was good to go.
However then they tried to ROB ME. The estimate was about $1800. For a surgery clinics do for free and other private vets do for about $400. This total included removing a hernia, so I expected a little extra, but the total is outrageous. Fast forward another week and my dog starts bleeding, her lady parts are so enlarged, and she's extra sleepy. Oh. The signs of being in heat. Which they thought she already went through? Ok, dumb. Dumb and trying to rob me. Won't be coming back.

Adopted a new puppy the other day and bought her here for her initial checkup and another minor issue. From start to finish everyone was super polite and friendly towards myself and my pup. We saw Dr. Williams-Dowd and she explained everything to me that she was doing and answered every one of my questions thoroughly. She also told me what to expect in the upcoming year with a new puppy. Can't say enough great things about the doctor and the staff here!

Lisa is the best! She absolutely loves all pets and is really concerned with making the animals feel comfortable and answering the pet owner's concerns. She has called a few times to check in on my dog after a teeth cleaning and biopsy procedure and is helpful with all my questions re food and pain medication. Whenever your fur baby has to go under anesthesia it feels scary, but I knew he was in good hands after speaking to her. Truly a sweetheart!

Avoid Dr. Snarski at all costs. Rude, condescending and arrogant. We loved this clinic and went through cancer treatments with our boxer several years back. But a slight mix up over a vaccine with our new pup (mostly because you are forced to wait outside while they take your animal in for treatment) resulted in Dr. Snarski calling me a liar and talking to me in a way that was completely unacceptable. Literally told me that he was going to speak and that I was to be quiet and listen. Never again.

I hate to say it, but this clinic has gone downhill and our last encounter has made us leave the practice entirely. We took our dog for one vaccine and refills. I was VERY specific on the app that he only needed one vaccine. My husband took our dog over and after waiting 30 minutes in the freezing cold, the tech came out, and my husband confirmed what was needed to be done.
Once our dog was returned to us, we find out a vaccine was given without our knowledge or permission. I called the vet when we got home and Dr. Snarski as incredibly condescending, rude and just horrible. He said he read the chart and gave him what he needed. Even if that was the case, no one came out to confirm what we wanted/needed. He would cut both my husband and I off mid-sentence and would not listen to one word we had to say.
I spoke with the manager the next day (she was extremely polite) and told her that we will no longer be using their practice. Our dog's records were sent to us today. we are LIVID. Dr. Snarski wrote such horrible lies about our conversation. Saying we called him names (which shall not be mentioned) and how we acted on the phone. It is absolutely disgusting that this "doctor" is practicing. Like

Excellent experience, especially after moving from Hoboken Vets (a disaster). Transparent about billing and the process, seem to genuinely care for my dog, and the vent spent a long time on the phone explaining everything to me and answering all of the questions I had about the issue. They even called to follow up a few days later to make sure he was okay.

About 3 weeks ago, my 15+ year old dog was diagnosed with acute kidney disease and her weight dropped from 20 to 15 lbs over 3 months - neither good signs. I knew what that meant - couple of days to a couple of months. She was doing well on antibiotics, eating well, her crabby self again, gained a lb, but Monday morning 12/13, she vomited before eating and did not eat all day.
She seemed to be retreating to protected corners in the kitchen and back parlor rather than her normal sleeping places. That night, I slept in the back parlor with her and every 30 minutes or so she vomited a small amount of a clear liquid. She looked confused. We went for at walk at 230 and again at 430 and she tried to pee but could not. Neither of us really slept that night.
So after that night, I called the vet at 8. When I arrived at 11, I waited a few minutes. A vet came out to ask me what was going on. We spoke for about 10 minutes and I expressed my desire to say good bye to her. The vet moved me out of the waiting area into an exam room, treated me with respect and offered me privacy during that visit. We said good bye at 1130.
The next day, I picked up her wrapped collar and tags with a wonderful note. I few days later, I received a hand written sympathy card with a picture from her first visit 14 years ago. So THANK YOU for your care for her and your consideration for me.

Do not believe the message in their answering machine. Unless your dog is at deaths door They are NOT A WALK IN CLINIC. In fact you CAN NOT PREBOOk any appointment. Which means you have to call each morning at 8:30 and hope they have a slot for that day. Clue. they never do. So you virtually can never get an appointment with them that is at all convenient or timely.
I am retired.if I am retired and can't get an appointment during the day with my wide open schedule I don't know how anyone gets an appointment that's convenient for them when they're working. The vets are good the staff is good the corporate new policy of booking sucks abd is beyond frustrating

I've been coming here for a little over a year now with my dog and over the past few months the service has declined significantly. Full disclosure - the vets are awesome. They're always willing to answer my questions (no matter how dumb they may be). The main issue is with the check-in process and communication from the front desk. Had to call multiple times in order to get in touch with a vet regarding a change in the status of something I had previously brought the pup in for.
Once I was able to get in touch with them (three calls over a week and a half) the vet was helpful discussing advice and options. Was given the wrong opening hours from the front desk leading to a 2 hour walk-in wait on a Saturday AM (I even questioned the timing they gave after talking about why I was bringing him in and I was assured that the open was 9am and not 8am) They are transitioning to an appointment structure but I received no notification and was told at 8am today that they may not be able to see him as a result of the change. When I asked about receiving a notification they assured me that it was communicated (double checked my email and I have nothing). TLDR: vets are helpful service is awful

After an emergency vet visit elsewhere and a stressful week of uncertainty, I took my cat to Animal Infirmary of Hoboken for a second opinion. I was feeling unusually sensitive about the situation due to lack of sleep from the ill cat and the stress of uncertainty. The nurse was so present and kind with me. She asked a lot of questions and helped me to express all of my concerns. Dr. Norby came out to talk with me and this made all the difference.
She also asked a lot of questions, answered all of my questions, explained everything in the most calm and through way. She approached my cats health from every direction which allowed to to finally, after a week, relax and know for sure he'll be ok. I don't typically leave reviews but the respect and concern I felt from Dr. Norby and her team made my life so much calmer.

I hope can left 0 star for management. But vets are really friendly. Horrible management for checking in. They did not tell you how long to wait to be called. So you have to wait outside all the time. After waiting 20 minutes in 88F without any shade, I asked one nurse my waiting time. She told me it was about 1 hr. I feel very tired and angry. At this time, they do not use any technical like virtual line or reservation system. I can accept long waiting for walk in( the only option they provide), but at least they should told us estimated waiting time.

Took my very ill elderly cat in last week for a re- check, after she was diagnosed at the ER a few days ago as terminally ill. Dr. Smith and staff treated my beloved pet with the utmost love, care and compassion. She even came out and into the street to show me how to give oral meds to my cat. She also gave me additional fluid options to give to my cat to help her from dehydration.
She also called me the next day as promised with my cat's test results and although the results were grave, she was very caring and compassionate when she delivered the news. thankfully, my cat is still breathing, alive and enjoying her remaining days with me at home giving her all the palliative care and love that one can give to a pet at their final stage of life. Thank you again to Dr. Smith and staff for everything they did to save my baby. I'm eternally grateful.

All of the staff at this place are kind and lovely. The Covid regulations suck and seem pointless to me from a patient perspective, but that's happening everywhere. I would trust my pets being treated here, and that's after dealing with a lots of bad vets elsewhere. Dr. Schwartz especially is great, and not a robot like some. They put my kitty Peaches to sleep yesterday but we did all we could first.

They've taken very good care of my dog! She had to have surgery and the vet was amazing with her. He also took the time to answer all of my questions, it didn't feel rushed at all. I just wish I could make appointments, this walk in only policy is unfavorable. Also her vet is not always at this location which makes it a little harder to consistently see him. I'm sure everyone is just as qualified, I'd just rather see the same person for her. But otherwise they are all super sweet and friendly, I trust them with my fur baby!

The Animal Infirmary really does read their reviews (and wants to make it right)! And I'm happy to report that I've been corrected - not well advertised, but AIH has an app that allows for appointments for routine visits. We have yet to use it, but it's a welcome alternative that will (hopefully) reduce wait times in the future. Just want to clarify also that my previous review/rating does not mean that I was in anyway dissatisfied by the veterinary care of my pet. COVID prevents me from going in with her, but the vets have been super good about talking thru checks and concerns over the phone. Thumbs up for AIH taking concerns/suggestions seriously - and tracking down the Yelp reviewer to discuss how to improve customer satisfaction. The vets here care and take that extra step!

I love the staff here! I took my previous dog here, RIP Sophie, and they were great with her. Not just her but with me. She was an older Yorkie and had a lot of health issues. I cannot say enough about Dr. Williams! She truly cared for Sophie and gave her such special attention. I've seen a couple of other doctors here which were all great but I definitely felt that Sophie and Dr. Williams had a special bond. Was it pricey?
Of course it was. But what vet isn't? I did think it was pretty fair for what Sophie had to go through though. I'm so thankful for the kindness she showed during that tough time with Soph. I always recommend the Animal Infirmary to any new dog parent that I meet.

Every time I come here, I leave with a $400 less in my bank account. First of all, their process during COVID is ridiculous. You get there, sign in by calling the front desk from your cell phone as you stand outside in the cold, and then proceed to wait 2 hours in the cold until they come take your pet. Then, they take your pet behind closed doors, you are not allowed inside, and 30 minutes later your pet comes back, with several injections that they didn't advise you your pet will be getting, and a $400 to cover the cost of the injections and meds.
The vet would not even come speak with me face to face because she was pregnant, so we spoke (on a very rushed call) via cell phone while I waited outside. I was very upset that my dog was given an allergy injection without consulting me as I have read very negative reviews about these shots and would have said NO. In addition to them not discussing treatment in advance, they don't discuss their charges up front either.
The consultation alone was $80. They also charge $8 to dispose of the needle used for the shot. Everything is a (bad) surprise at the end. Save your time and money and go somewhere where they don't try to rip you off. I give 2 stars because the tech's all love the animals and are great with them. I'll be looking for another vet.

In a very difficult time, Dr. Ponce was extremely kind and thoughtful. She checked in with us unprompted after an initial visit and offered the kind of support you'd hope to get from any doctor, let alone the doctor caring for your very first baby who had been with you since a pup. On Minnie's birthday, I want to thank Dr. Ponce for all she did to make my pup's last days as comfortable as possible.

Staff was extremely busy due to 1 Dr being in surgery and being a holiday most folks were thinking the same, good day to take the furry baby to the vet. These ladies held it down. Dr Sharon Williams took care of my cat in less than 30 mins we were on the way home. Staff diligently prepped each pet but never neglected a good scratches behind the ears and kisses.

We are so LUCKY to have found Animal Infirmary of Hoboken! We've been going to Dr. Schwartz for years and she has gone the extra mile to improve the quality of life of our 14+ year old Pomeranian. She has never given up on him and always gets to the bottom of his ailments. She is brilliant and our entire family is alive and healthy because of her hard work.
We go in regularly and always feel welcomed and accommodated. The entire team, from Lisa at the front desk (who always has a smile on her face) to the amazing vet tech Millie to other doctors like Dr. Norby, we know when we walk in they will treat us like family. We've never felt alone or lost when an emergency comes up because they are our safety net. Truly the best vet in Hoboken (we've been to MANY other places).

I need to caveat this review by saying it's the only veterinary practice I have taken my to, however I really have no reason to go anywhere else. Every staff member we have ever dealt with has been pleasant and truly caring for our dog. The technicians are all really gentle and affectionate with our dog, helping him feel at ease. I am pretty annoying and ask tons of questions and the 5+ different veterinarians I have worked with since we got our dog have all been really patient and helpful explaining things to me.
I also really like that they never give conflicting advice. There is always a vet in call at the main number until 10pm in case you have any problems and need to know if you should go to the 24hr emergency vet. One word of caution, they do stop taking walk ins about an hour before they close. I gave them 4 stars and not 5, because they don't take appointments and I'm told they are a bit expensive, but then again, what isn't in Hoboken?

I have always had a positive experience here for my cats and especially my dog. She tends to have panic attacks with bouts of vomiting at the vet. The staff here has always been very nice to my 13 yr old pit, Lina, and loves to see her. They also cut nails which is excellent because most grooming places won't for her. Just took her for a clipping yesterday and I was so happy they were able to during this time.
