Dr. Fredericks and his team are wonderful and extremely helpful to both of our shelters, Little Shelter Animal Rescue and The Town of Huntington Cat Shelter, and we couldn't be more grateful. North Shore Veterinary Hospital has now been with us for THREE generations. A million stars.

IF I COULD NO STARS I WOULD! NORTH SHORE VETERINARY HOSPITAL: Their Euthanasia Service was horrible and painful for me and my pet. They don't know how to handle a pet who is difficult but also was in poor health. My poor dog was growling and being choked while trying to be subdued to give him the first shots. When Dr. Fredricks finally gave him the shots he said "GOT HIM" like he won the battle!

I'm sick over this and wish we had left with my pet before he gave the shots! My poor dog suffered in his final minutes! It was so disgusting and sickening! Not ethical by any means. I will be taken action against the whole process of his practice. THEY CANT NOT HANDLE OR HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE TO HANDLE DIFFICULT PETS! NO COMPASSION FROM THIS DOCTOR!

I have no complaints about the care they give. My only issue is that they are clearly more concerned about payment than in the health of your animal. I am well aware that payments are necessary, but not before the health of the animal. Four years ago, my great dane became sick. They diagnosed a possible foreign object or possibly bloat. They instructed me to 'immediately' take the dog to an emergency vet hospital they recommended and gave me paperwork for a south shore emergency vet hospital.

The vet indicated that 'surgery was imminent'. I was nervous and my wife quietly crying. My wife took the dog to the car and as I proceeded to walk out the door, I told the secretary that I would be back later that afternoon or the next day to pay. "No" the desk secretary told me. " You have to pay now". I explained that my wife was sitting in the car with the sick animal, and she had the credit card, and that I was nervous for the dog's health and not thinking about the payment at this moment, and that I did not have a credit card on me.

It didn't matter - they absolutely refused to allow me to leave without retrieving the credit card and paying. When I told the girl that the vet said to get the dog right over to the hospital, she insisted that I pay their bill at that moment, not wanting me to come back later in the day or the next. It is true that this took all of 5 minutes, but the point is I was concerned with the immediacy of my dog's health, they were concerned about receiving payment of their substantial bill at that moment.

It was not like I ever owed them a penny - I always paid my bills upon leaving for routine visits. I was a long-time patient of the original Dr. Fredericks since moving to the area in 1980, with multiple dogs over the years. They haven't seen me since.

North shore is a great, caring place. They were able to squeeze in my dog when there was an emergency, and there was nothing but care, love, and expertise from the staff and veterinarian. Our pups will thrive here for years to come!

I absolutely love this vets office! I got recommended to this place through the shelter where I adopted my kitty, so I tried it out and they've always had exceptional care. The staff are all phenomenal, everyone from the front desk associates, vet techs, and Vets. Dr. Mike was the absolute best! He was so gentle and thorough with my kitty, and she loved him!

There's been a few times that my kitty had been sick, and when I called before office hours and left a message asking if it was at all possible to have her squeezed in and seen that day, every single time they were extremely attentive and returned my call shortly after opening and were kind and caring enough to be able to get her in that same day. I think so highly of this establishment and would definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone for the best care for your furry loved ones

Dr. Fredericks and his team have been fantastic. He has been the best VET we have been too. Not looking to put fear in you, not looking to milk every dollar. Really great, smart, kind. Appreciate him and the staff.

We cant thank all of you enough. You saw our 1 year old dog Bo at a moments notice with seizures. We know its a very hard thing to treat in young dogs, but you gave him a fighting chance. There is a special place in heaven for all of your Doctors and staff

Dr Frederick helped my little dog Cocoa and was very attentive and answered all my questions. He covered all bases, and she is now feeling better. Staff was great and took me right in that day. Thank you!

Excellent care and compassionate. Adjusted meds and treatment saved Romeo last week. No appointment and they were very busy. Took him right in. Romeo is in advanced stages of congestive heart failure. I am not in denial of the situation but the time they have given him and us is invaluable. Romeo has spent this past week getting stronger and stronger and he's almost back to his old normal self. Can not thank them enough.

They are so caring for the animals! My dog was behaving difficult and they allowed me to leave and come back in the same day (even though there schedule was busy and maxed out for the day) to let my dog calm down and be seen by the doctor! Definitely will continue to go there!

Our 1st visit was on Tuesday. We got such a warm welcome that George and Gracie went in and came out with their tails wagging. Even under the challenging circumstances persented by covid 19, me in the car and my pups in the office, I felt included in the visit. My furbabies are officially NSVH pets!

They gave me medication and a ton of different ways to keep her comfortable so we could have a little longer. I was always calling with my crazy mom questions and they always helped. When it was time to let her go to heaven, the whole staff help me.

What ever I needed to be comfortable and make peace with my decision they accommodated me. One of the most difficult days of my life, and they made it easier for me. Thank you all for your help

Dr. Donovan and the vet tech who assisted her (not sure of his name) were so sweet and caring to my boy today. We just moved into the area, so this was out first time at North Shore Veterinary Hospital. I brought my dog Milo in to get his dew claw checked out, as it had broke at the quick. They squeezed me in last minute and were right on time to grab him from the car.

They were so patient with him as he is timid and nervous at the vet. Less than 15 minutes later he was out and happy as a clam. Thank you Dr. Donovan and all of the staff at North Shore Veterinary Hospital! We look forward to many more years of your care.

I brought my creaky, in-pain senior dog to Dr. Pollek for acupuncture last Fall and he's doing fantastic! She did weekly treatments to start him off well, got him started on amazing supplements, recommended successful diet changes AND taught me how do accupressure on him. Dr. Pollek gave me a book recommendations for the accupressure and even lent me her own charts. My Bingo Bear is at least 14 and feels better than he did two years ago 🙂 She's a lifesaver!!

Truely amazing Veterinarians and staff here. They've been taking care of my furry children for over 15 yrs and every experience I have had with them has been, positive . They treat your furry family as if it were theirs, are excellent, knowledgeable doctors, forthcoming and compassionate. It's easy to see that they've chosen this profession for their love of animals rather than just the paycheck.

I have told everyone I know with furry family members about them so that their pets will have the same opportunity to enjoy the best of health care as mine do. My family will never go anywhere else.

Even after moving out of Northport all of my animals remain patients of Dr. Fredericks and staff. We would never go anywhere else. The office staff is great and all really care about the animals! Also, every time I go there is a shelter animal getting checked out. They take care of them all. It is so nice to see! Love all of the doctors, their patience, and care for all animals. Keep up the great work!

We have had superior care since the late '60s from first Arthur Fredericks, who also led the Cow Harbor Parade on his horse, then Richard his son and now Russell following in the family tradition. It is comforting to know that they have chosen a staff that meets their standard of care. Over the years I have had pets saved or had the quality of their lives extended where there had been little hope. We've been fortunate to have them.
