Dr. Valerie Miller grew up in Long Island, NY. She moved to Ohio to attend Ohio State University and received her DVM from the university's College of Veterinary Medicine there. After living in California and Virginia where she practiced in a small animal center and an all-feline practice, Dr. Miller moved to York, PA.
You work hard to ensure that your furry family member has the best possible life-that's why partnering with a veterinary provider who genuinely cares for you both is so important! At East York Veterinary Center, we are proud to offer a comprehensive range of services to address your pet's specific veterinary needs.
Our goal is to make scheduling an appointment as easy and convenient for you as possible. Please note that we require a deposit for all New Client, Same-Day Sick, and Emergency Visits. If this is an emergency, or your pet is in pain or injured, or you need an appointment today please call our office. We will schedule your appointment with the doctor that has seen your pet in the past unless you select the doctor you would like your pet to see.
Sadly, our pets don't live as long as we do-and if you've ever wondered why, we think we know. You see, people are born so that they can learn how to live a good life: how to love, how to be kind, how to be loyal. But our pets are born already knowing how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long!.

Excellent care by veterinarians! We are new patients to the practice and couldn't be happier with East York Veterinary Center. I have a cat who was stress overgrooming and they got us in very quickly for a new patient appointment. Dr Henzler gave excellent care and was very friendly with me as well as Lola even though my temperamental tortoise took a swipe and scratched him. The office is very nice. Prices are very reasonable and affordable. Definitely recommend!

Charged me for things I did not need and said that by me saying "ok" was my consent to do a x-ray of my dog. Never told me the prices for anything. Was highly dissatisfied with the bill and the way it was handled. Asked for a manager and didn't get one. Will not be coming back here. Thanks for taking my money though!

Tried to get a refill for my cats anxiety meds that he needs for when he goes to the vet. They told me he had to have an appointment. the thing is he NEEDS these meds in order to even enter a vets office. That being said they want me to bring my unmedicated cat into the clinic so that he can become stressed out just so they can look at him through the carrier, not be able to touch him because he's so freaked just to get this refill? So what then I'll have to pay not just one appointment fee but two because he needs vaccines as well! This is ridiculous. All they want to do here is nickel and dime you.

Amazing doctors and staff. We were new patients that needed to put our ten year old Rottweiler to rest. We couldn't have picked a better day. The staff was so amazing and sympathetic. They allowed us to do the entire process outside where our furbaby was comfortable. The package we got included a beautiful urn with a paw print that came in a beautiful blue velvet bag.

They also included grieving information. They also sent a card (hand signed by the staff) shortly after with their condolences. 5+ stars in mine and my husband's opinion. Exceptional service, sympathy and empathy. Even though I was a mess they understood everything.

Worst veterinary office. I had a 3:30 PM appointment for my sick cat. At 4:20 PM, I was told that the doctor is running late with an emergency and won't stay past 5:00 PM so they are going to cancel my appointment for the day after I waited for an hour. I asked if I could leave my cat for the tests to be run at their convenience and pick her up from the vet tech when it was done.

The doctor said that she would not "bend over backward" for us. Bend over backward? I just wanted them to keep my appointment- they scheduled it. I left after wasting a full hour and my cat was still in pain. On my way out, they gave me the number for an emergency clinic. Shouldn't the emergency have gone to the emergency clinic and they keep my appointment? Or, tell me when I first got there that an emergency came up so I could take my cat to the emergency clinic.

The appointment before this, they didn't have power so they did half of my dog's annual physical. I had to reschedule my dog for the second half and they tried to charge a second office visit fee. The appointment before that, they charged me the "wrong amount" and called me 2 days later for additional money. My parents used to go there too and they swear their cat got fleas every time she went. Plus, they are overpriced. Don't waste your time or money.

Nice friendly staff, who treat you and best friend to a high standard. If I was asked to recommend a great vet, this would be my recommendation.

This used to be a good place to take your pet but that changed under the new management. Numerous times my pet was given expensive tests they recommended and I was told they would reach out to me with the results. I never heard from them and had to contact them to get the results. They clearly didn't care anymore once I had paid the bill and walked out the door.

They also did a poor job keeping the medication my pet needs to live in stock. It's understandable that supply chains are not normal but waiting until the day of to notify the medicine is not available is outrageous! There are many other options for veterinarians in York. I would not recommend East York Veterinary Center because they don't prioritize the well being of their patients.

If your looking to get something done or appointment in a timely manner, go somewhere else. While Dr. Moussa is amazing the rest of the staff leaves much to be desired. They often drag their feet on filling prescriptions, often then incorrectly fill them, and will go days without completing a request. If you raise an issues no one will be able to resolve it because no one is willing to speak to you. It goes as far as incorrect prescriptions, procedures for pets, and incorrect medicine only to have to purchase more and different scripts.

Despite foul weather staff was attentive and kind to my dog. Vet was thorough and my dog warned to him immediately. Diagnostic tests completed and medication dispensed. Staff instructed me so I could provide in home care. This Vet office accepts care credit which makes payments over time possible. Clean, orderly waiting room and exam room. Staff efficient and friendly.

We have brought our dogs here since we got them but will no longer go there. they always just do whatever they want and charge us for stuff we specifically ask not to do. And the doctor who barely speaks English man handles the dogs.

This place should not be able to take care of animals. Giving out false information. Told my family that the family dog had two large tumors and wasn't looking good. After spending $$ to expedite test results we never heard anything. Vet avoids calling you. We had to take our dog two hours away to get more test done since they didn't have time to do the test.

After taking him to a real vet and they did the same test only to find out that is was just his kidneys. These place is just out for the money and not for the love of an animal. DO NOT TAKE YOUR FAMILY PET HERE!

This veterinary hospital has the WORST customer service and communication skills. Do not use them. We contacted them early last week in an emergency situation for a koi fish. We did everything they asked with respect to completing a questionnaire, sending pictures.and got nothing back. We offered to pay for a quick "look see" of our fish. We called multiple time to check in. Nothing.

Every time we called, a new excuse. The doctor is with a patient, he is in surgery.they will get back to us. Unfortunately they never did. When I called Monday at 1:00, they asked if I had a green Parrot? Really? The fish died over the weekend. It was a $2500 fish. RIP.

The office is nice and clean, and the staff are friendly. We took our 4 mo old pup for her first vet appt after we adopted her 3 days prior and the vet didn't even touch her. She didn't listen to her or do any sort of physical exam. A week later we took her back because she started limping. We saw a different vet, got xrays and she did a physical exam.

She explained what she saw in the xrays, didn't give a diagnosis and said she should see an orthopedic vet. She didn't give us any recommendations so I had to search online. The next day I called this office and asked if they had any recommendations. Turns out they work with an ortho vet! ( would have been nice to know the day of the appt! ) She was able to take a look at the xrays.

A staff member called me and told me the vet said our pup had bilateral platella luxations and had a poor prognosis for normal function then emailed me a PDF of the diagnosis. I wanted more of an explanation. I called back (on a Friday at noon) and asked for an appt. well apparently only one staff member can make an appt with this ortho vet. So it's Monday and still haven't heard anything. ( they are open 7 days a week) I called back and that one person still isn't in to make an appt.

To me, this is ridiculous. No it's not an emergency, but we are concerned! their process is not helpful at all. Their prices are reasonable though. Her first visit was free so that was a pleasant surprise

Just a quick reminder about what money grubbing horrible people are in charge of this place. They bullied me into an appt even tho I stressed that I only wanted what was necessary by law (my dog is healthy and happy) then they bullied me into unnecessary tests and 54 PILLS to prepare for one visit to take (unnecessary) blood. When I realized this I asked to return the drugs (would never sedate my dog unnecessarily) but they refused. 60.90 cents for drugs I'll never use. Yes, I should have looked closer before leaving but I, at the time, just wanted to get me and my dog out of that place.

When thinking of a place to care for your sick pet. Think long and hard before coming to this place. In fact you really should avoid it like the plague. They truly aren't in it for the animals. They are in it for the money. Seriously, they wanted to charge $154 to cremate or Guinea pig. This is NO WHERE near the realm of what any other vet charges in fact it is 3x greater than ANY vet in York County.

The vet that treated our furry friend and beloved member was very informative but did lay out the likelihood of our piggie getting better as slim to none. However let's spend thousands of dollars putting him through tests that more than likely won't make a difference. The people running this place should be ashamed and really shouldn't tell people that they care about or animals.

I have three ferrets, finding care for them is not always easy. I had a little girl not feeling well so I called East York Veterinary Center. Dr Moussa saw my girl. I have never experienced such a kind, gentle and compassionate Doctor to care for my pets. Dr Moussa explained everything to me using terms I was able to understand. Dr Moussa would make a follow up call to see how my girl was doing, this was especially appreciated.above and beyond my expectations. Thank you!

Dr. Moussa and the veterinary nurses were absolutely amazing. From the time we were greeted at the desk until we paid and left my dog and I were both at ease and felt welcomed. With him being pure bred pit bull, there are many times people shy away from him. No one at the office did that! He was so relaxed!

My beautiful rescue had two dental surgeries at this office and afterwards they said everything was good. Even went for a follow up! She started reverse sneezing and dropping her food which meant her fistulas that they supposedly fixed had opened. We had to have a third surgery with a specialist to fix a problem that they supposedly fixed twice. To make matters worse the specialist found that they left rotten teeth, a cracked dead tooth, And roots that had become infected.

We have only had our girl for 10 months and she is 11 years old! I assume this was to get a third surgery for more money. If they would have referred us to a specialist in the first place, she would have only had to endure one surgery and not three! There's no way they could've missed these mistakes since they clean every single tooth before they're done.

They are money hungry and WILL put your beloved pet in harms way just to make a buck. They would not cover the specialist or even apologize for being horrible. DO NOT GO HERE!

I brought my rabbit in for am emergency situation. They were very nice and understanding and explained all the options. They laid out the price/action plan before they did anything. The estimated price for care had a decent gap between the min and the max. It was very nice the know what the maximum it could cost when going in. My rabbit ended up passing away she was in really bad shape.

I honestly feel they did everything they could for her. During her whole stay they called me to give me updates through out the day. I did not need to call once to see how she was doing because they were keeping me posted the whole time. When I went to pick her up everyone was very respectful. Everyone seemed upset for me abd the loss of my pet but did not bother me or overwhelm me.

They packed her up in a coffin very sturdy cardboard box and wrapped her up in a nice blanket. All in all they did their best and made the awful experience as painless as possible.

Love this veterinarian clinic. They are so nice and boarding is great. They took care of my beloved spoiled dog that only eats if you feed him by hand. Very patient and care about your pet.

My elderly amazon parrot Buddy usually visits Ani-Care - but her vet wasn't available, and they recommended East York. They got me right in on an emergency and we got her started on the meds she needed. Thank you so much!

I like most can't start to describe how many bad experiences I've had with this vet--they're money hungry. I took my adopted Corgi there and the first visit was alright., the vet was very attentive. We had to go back for a follow up and we're told that it was just for a vaccine. When we showed up, they took him in the back. When they came back out, and said, "we had to give him a soft exam, it's not as much as a full exam".

Note this was just after they told us that it would be just for an vaccine and he wouldn't have to be seen by a vet. Nothing we could have done at the moment, so we just had to take it. Then we had to wait a half an hour for the paper invoice, because I like to keep records. At that point, I knew that this WAS NOT the vet I wanted for my dog.

Not to mention the front desk is about as clueless as they come. I once asked how much a rabies vaccine was and the employee looked at me dumbfounded, " uhhh they range from 28-35." You mean to tell me you don't know what one of the most common vaccines cost? Didn't try to get me a correct answer or anything. Do yourself a favor and don't be fooled by the inviting lobby--find another vet that knows their stuff, and doesn't nickel and dime it's patrons.

I want to start out by saying that this vet does have a friendly nursing and front desk staff, they are always very quick to schedule us for appointments. But during and after the appointment is the problem. My dog gets very scared around people he's not overly familiar with, so vet visits are never fun for my little guy but this vet does nothing to properly accommodate.

We have been taking him here since he was a puppy and all they have ever done is prescribe anti-anxiety pills for when we bring him in, they stated we might have to try several different types of medication and doses until we get the right combination.but until we can get the right medication for him they refuse to give him any medical attention. They want vet visits to only be "happy" and refuse to give my dog examinations or shots until the anti-anxiety meds are just right.

So we load the dog in the car, take him across town, lead him in to the vet waiting room, the nurse and doctor finally enter the room, and then we promptly leave as they will not go near him (even when we have put on a muzzle). I understand not wanting to look like a "bad guy" to my dog but come on. I'd rather him be healthy and dislike you for a visit a few times a year than to go without his shots or exams. It's very unprofessional; this isn't a popularity contest, my dog doesn't have to like you, but you need to do your job.

We've been taking our pets here for many years, and we are so grateful to have a place to go where we can trust the advice and care. The doctors here are very well educated and up to date on the latest practices, and all the staff does really well with our animals even though our cat can be tough to handle in there. I always feel like we are getting the right recommendations and best care possible for our pets.

It helps too that the waiting room is really spacious and comfortable, but we never have to wait in there too long when we go in. So I can always feel good about recommending to other people that they take their pets there too since the quality of care is going to be good and it's a great place to go to.

I have been taking my furry family there for a few years now. I do prefer some vets over others but the expertise is spot on. I even take my dog there just to get his nails cut because several other pet spas in the area butchered his nails to the point he developed a phobia of nail cutting. Their prices are a bit high, that's the only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5.

I wish they offered payment plans for treatment that exceeds $100.00. They only offer this CareCredit thing, which is not my favorite thing to do but it was The only way I could get my furry friend the treatment he needed. The place is always immaculate and I love that they sponser shelter animals right there in the facility. Their hours are convenient and staff is always friendly.

Customer service is very poor here. It was good years ago but has gone down hill. They overcharge for everything, every time I go it's a $400 bill or more. Then 50% of the time they can't even print an invoice to show me what I'm paying for. Looking for a new vet.

I do not even know where to begin to describe how terrible this vet is. let's start with being charged $600 for an x-ray and for a vet to tell me my cat's hindquarters were paralyzed and she would never be able to poop or pee on her own again. i was told by the vet that it was time to say goodbye to my 7 year old cat because there was nothing they could do to save her. i cried my eyes out and was trying to work up the nerve to say goodbye and let them put her to sleep.but i backed out. i couldn't do it. thank god i didn't! all she had was a bladder infection. a couple weeks on cranberry and some antibiotics and my kitty is happy and healthy.i almost put her to sleep because of these jerks! do not let the pretty modern interior fool you. this place is a nightmare.

Don't bother with this place. They will jack up the price after the initial quote even if it is not the original diagnosis. (Thought it was a hip problem and it turned out to be a muscle tear.)
