Pond Point Animal Hospital is a Milford, Connecticut-based Veterinary Clinic that was founded in 1973. Beginning with Dr. Suhie and Dr. Doughty, then Dr. Suhie and Dr. Rumble, and continuing to Dr. Carter and Dr. Colburn, Pond Point Animal Hospital has provided excellent veterinary care for over 40 years.
Here at Pond Point Animal Hospital we take your feedback seriously and appreciate your honest reviews. I brought my sick cat to Pond Point. Rocky is fully feral and normally cannot be handled by anyone. As usual, Dr. Carter was phenomenal, as was her vet tech, Kat. They were able to give Rocky a full exam, diagnose, and treat his illness with absolutely no problems at all.
ACVIM Statement on Lyme Disease in Dogs (their recommendations for treatment if Lyme Positive pg. 6). We cannot endorse any of the insurance programs listed above. Pond Point Animal Hospital is one of the few animal hospitals in New Haven County using surgical laser to speed healing and decrease pain during veterinary surgical procedures. Laser surgery seals nerve endings and closes blood vessels and is ideal for removing dewclaws, mass removal, eyelid and other facial surgeries. If your pet needs surgery, we would be happy to consult with you and help you determine whether laser surgery is right for your pet.

I've been a client of Pond Point for 11+ years and I absolutely love them. I was shocked to see the negative review regarding their receptionist Susan and feel I had to leave my own feedback. Susan is absolutely wonderful. She has ALWAYS been kind and caring and always goes out of her way to help you. She is just incredibly thoughtful and kind.
I am a multi pet home, so my interaction with her is frequent. And as all of us pet owners know, a lot of these times are sad and painful. And I have to tell you Susan was always and is always very caring and concerned. Some people are just kind souls and that's Susan. So, I had to write this because I appreciated all the kindness over the years from her. The rest of staff is pretty good too. :

We love Dr. Carter and her crew. From the first day I called and Susan helped me make an emergency appointment for my then chameleon I knew we were in a great spot. I have taken my dogs to her for her wonderful care for years. We just added two more to her roster with the addition of my fiance's dogs. Dr. Carter just even had to do a surgery on a tumor removal for the tiniest Chihuahua paw and it was beautifully done. There's so much care and love in this place. We love Pond Point. The staff treats our bossy Frenchie like he's George Clooney or something. Maybe it's the cheese cubes but he loves coming for his acupuncture/lazer treatments and all the attention he gets. They're always as accommodating as possible with our schedule and even squeezed him on a busy day when he was having upset stomach/diarrhea issues.

PPAH.has provided us, with excellent care, through thick and thin with our 5 dogs and one cat for over 20 years! The staff are kind, courteous and knowledgeable. We started there with Dr. Rumble and continued when Dr. Carter took over. We are extremely happy with their services and you will be too should you choose to use them.

We recently switched our Veternairy care to Pond Point Animal Hospital and could not be more pleased with the care our cats received here! One of our cats developed health issues and we are so glad he is in the care of Dr. Carter and the Pond Point staff. They have been thoughtful as they work through their differential diagnoses. We've also appreciated the clear communication and review of all aspects of care, including cost. We've been working a lot with Katy in addition to Dr. Carter and appreciate her availability, knowledge, and enthusiasm. We highly recommend Pond Point Animal Hospital!

This pains me to write this poor review as I had high hopes for this place. I'm not sure if the pandemic has changed how they operate, but my dog since beginning care with Pond Point went from being relaxed and happy to be seen at the vet, to totally traumatized. Previous to Pond Point, I had watched as my dog stood relaxed, tail wagging as he got his round of vaccines with a previous vet.
I believe it was our last experience with Pond Point that was the nail in the coffin. Griffin went in for several bloodwork tests, and I was told the lab "did not process" the Lyme specimen they had taken, so we had to go in for yet another blood draw. I was unfortunate enough to have that second blood draw visit with a vet who is apparently a visiting vet from another clinic and she was on rotation, or something along those lines I was told.
She concluded the visit by telling me that my dog needed 4 tabs of Trazadone prior to every single vet visit as he was terrified, which was shocking to me as he again never had any problems (except directly related to nail trims only) and this was the first I was hearing of this aversion to the vet in general. She then proceeded to inform me my dog tested positive for Lyme, which was extremely concerning and I wanted to know next steps and treatment options.
Instead of educating me on the Lyme exposure, she proceeded to lecture me about the dangers of my choice in feeding a raw meat diet to my pet - for myself and for my children (children I do not have, the conversation was so off base it was almost comical). I actually had to verbally redirect the conversation to the bomb that she just dropped about the Lyme.
She was slightly rude, condescending, and extremely unhelpful. She spent all of 30 seconds addressing the Lyme, and the rest of the time condescendingly trying to sway me away from raw feeding with her antiquated views. I would caution anyone bringing their animals here that you are aware of who is caring for your animals as it might not even be one of their regular vets. We left there and have been working with an amazing office to reverse the damage done and regain my dogs trust in the vet, slowly but surely.

We have never been to a vet that is more client-centered than Pond Point. Every single person was a part of the incredible journey - from Nikki's relentless chasing (even on weekends) of Elle's records to Katie's warm welcome to Nneka's detailed intake session to Susan handling all of our calls and to finally Dr. Carter's no BS, straight-talkin diagnostic powers - WE ARE SO GRATEFUL.
You all win the award for the best veterinary practice in the US. We've seen your magic on other dogs and we're now so happy that we got to experience it. Our vets in Brooklyn are fired. We're so happy to drive 2 hours up just to see you. I want the entire world to know how incredible you are! An amazing vet who truly understand the physio-anatomy of a dog who is HONEST AF is so rare. We LOVE Pond Point!

We have been coming here since moving into the area about five years ago. We are truly fortunate to have found such wonderful veterinary care. Dr. Carter is the best. Not only is she an outstanding doctor. She and her staff do everything possible to help my kitty be as calm as possible during exams and procedures. They are all so caring. With no reservations, I highly recommend PPAH to every pet owner.

Dr. Carter is excellent. Gets the job done the first time. No multiple visits to 'figure it out'. She is normally spot on. I have 5 pets and have been going to Pond Point for year. I've tried cheaper vets and I'll never do that again. Ended up spending more in the long run and they never really addressed my pets issues. GREAT staff too. Amazing.

Dr. Carter and her team take the time and care that helps to calm our nerves and our cat when she arrives for her annual shots. Our cat is older now and Dr Carter took the practice over for Dr Suie who retired. The transition was seamless and we like our new vet. Additionally, The office staff are very helpful when we have questions about various issues.
For example, I had questions about my parakeet's beak so I took photos and called them. Darlene asked me to email them so that the Dr. could take a look and make a recommendation. Darlene also provided a referral to an aviary vet who I called and emailed as well. Turns out that both Dr Carter and the other vet both recommended the same treatment. Darlene and I must have spoken on the phone about four times that day. They take the time to understand the issue, they speak to the vet and promptly returned my call.

I tried this place because I relocated from branford This place ridiculously overcharges clients. I literally did a side-by-side comparison of my old vet bill a year ago and this one and each vaccine was at least $10 more. The visit alone they charge $74.50. My old vet charged $45. The heart worm year was a ridiculous $113. My old vet charged $44.
I have multiple dogs so this visit was over $745 for yearly health check and vaccines for 2 dogs. I have never paid more than $400. Then my dog came back positive for ehrlichia so she needed antibiotics ok no problem I thought. I've never spent too much on those. $103! I literally immediately called old vet who said they only would have charged $45. I will drive the extra 20 miles to my old vet. No thank you!

We have been coming here for about a year and half with our Shiba Inu after having a negative experience at a different animal hospital, and this place has always been great! Dr. Carter is very caring, informative and attentive to the animals -- she is very straight forward, no BS, which I love! I have also seen the other veterinarian on staff here (unsure of her name) who I like as well.
The only reason this review is 4 stars instead of 5 is their pricing, which is definitely a little steep -- especially as there have been a couple times we brought him in for essentially just an evaluation and we still ended up paying upwards of $100. However we will still continue coming here, as they are personable, always remember our dog and are excited to see him, and we know we can trust them!

I've been looking for a new vet in town to take my dogs since we moved. I liked the website because you can request an appointment online. They called back on the next business day and I was able to schedule both dogs within a week. (Unlike my previous Vet where they were about a month our so booked out.) Took the dogs in to see Dr. Bedars. She was very kind and knowledgeable.
She offered advice for herbal medications for one of my dogs without pushing major meds. She picked up on by little guys hip problems right away and told us about some mild pain relief that is available if needed. She also prescribed a low dose anxiety med for my other guy (he's 9 and no other vet has ever mentioned this!) The tech was also very friendly as well as the whole check in process. I know that there are some bad reviews here, but as a new client, I couldn't be more happy.

I am so grateful to the entire staff at Pond Point for the compassionate, personalized care both of my cats consistently received. We were truly treated like family.welcomed each visit with ready smiles and accommodations from all. Dr. Bedarf and Dr. Carter were always responsive and available for follow-up questions, offering the time I needed. Losing both boys to long-term chronic illness was devastating, but I will always be thankful to the Pond Point team for the compassion and concern we were shown until the end.

Pond Point Animal Hospital is by far the BEST Hospital! We had a very sick ferret and was recommended to Dr. Carter has our vet had retired and would no longer be able to care for her. Dr. Carter thoroughly examined her and with her recommendation we were able to extend our little Lia's life by an additional 8 months. Unfortunately, Lia lost the battle and our almost 9 year old ferret crossed the rainbow bridge but we couldn't be more thankful for Pond Point, Dr. Carter and the staff.
The compassion and love they show is incredible; my husband and I left the office feeling like every person in that building loved our Lia just as much as we did. They gave us all the time we needed, gave us a print of her paws and even a eulogy on their website. We are so grateful to have found them and will only trust them for our veterinarian needs.
We just got a new puppy 8 days ago and it was a no brainer that Pond Point would be handling Madison Rose's care. Thank you Pond Point Animal Hospital for providing excellent care, for your compassion and love towards our pets who in reality is our family.

We had been taking our dog here since she was a puppy and did like Dr. Carter and love Susan at the front desk, but we just had an experience here that is causing us to switch vets. Long story short, our 70lb dog ate a 200mg Motrin and when I called them to see what we should do, the other vet on duty told me, "it's likely fatal, and if it's not fatal she will have kidney failure or kidney damage." When I asked if she could help us make her vomit if I got her there ASAP, she told me that they were soon to close and her staff would be leaving. Sorry, but you just told me my dog was probably going to die but you can't stay open an extra 30 minutes to help?! Thankfully we took the dog to an emergency vet and she was fine (and no kidney damage because she is 70lbs and the doctor was completely wrong).
I called to complain and was told Dr. Carter would call me to follow up. This never happened and therefore we will be leaving Pond Point as it is evident that they don't really care about their clients.

I've been bringing my two pitbull/bulldog-breed dogs to Pond Point for over two years now. I usually see Dr. Carter, who is full of pet wisdom and very caring towards the animals. Recently, with Dr. Carter unavailable, I was a little hesitant to try a new doctor, but my dog was not only scheduled for his annual appointment, but had also started limping and needed attention.
I made the call to see Dr. Colburn and I'm so happy I did! She was very professional, but more than that, truly cared for my dog. She was friendly, thorough, and provided me with a wealth of information on my pet. I would highly recommend this Animal Hospital, as the staff is amazing, caring, and professional, and the price reasonable. They truly do care about the animals here. It's also super clean and hospitable.

Simply put, this place is incredible. I have used other vets in the area, but these guys take the cake. Dr. Carter and her staff were amazingly friendly, informative, and professional. My two cats needed some pretty extensive dental work and I received two estimates via email that listed out all of the possible charges. This allowed me to choose to go elsewhere if I felt the charges were too high, but I brought them here for surgery.
In at 8am and ready for 430 and I received two calls after surgery to update me on their status and health. Dr. Carter took the time to go over EVERYTHING that was done during surgery and explain things completely. I have never had my vet be so thorough with me which really won me over. I also received two follow up calls the day after surgery to see if my cats were doing ok. Price wise, they were about on par with my other vets so no complaints there. This place really wowed me and they truly exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend them!

I'm sorry, but I CAN NOT recommend this place or Dr. Carter. It is abundantly clear that they are much more interested in getting your money than helping your pet. For a simple and common condition, you will hear: ' it could be X, or Y or Z or a new rare disease' and we should test. You can exlain that the animal has had this exact same condition many times until you are blue in the face to no avail.
The front staff has been replaced and is excellent, but Dr. Carter is either too inexperienced and/or too focused on the final billing to be of any use to me again. EXTREMELY expensive! Why are 2 of the reviews from California and Arkansas?

Dr. Carter and the staff at Pond Point are AWESOME! They work hard to give your pet the care that is most appropriate. Dr. Julia Carter is skilled at traditional veterinary medicine and also uses Acupuncture as well as other wholistic treatments, hospice, and board and care. You can tell the quality of a veterinarian by how they treat their own pets, and if reincarnation is real, I want to come back in my next life as Dr. Julia Carter's pet. Serious.

I received a message from the staff. In light of this, I'd like to say that apparently Dr. Rumble still works at Pond Point (although I received a letter in the mail and a verbal communication that he doesn't). I am still very unhappy with my experience at Pond Point and while I'm glad to hear they've updated their pricing, this doesn't fix the behavior of their staff and the care my cat received.
I do not see why I should remove an "unflattering" review if it reflects my experiences. "Dr. Rumble has not left Pond Point Animal Hospital - he still practices medicine here and brings his own animals here. We have done a thorough review of our pricing structure and made changes to accomodate the current economy. We would like to request that you remove this unflattering and possibly slanderous review."

I came to Pond Point about 2 yrs ago after moving here from San Francisco. I have 2 cats with major issues. I had had a bad experience with a vet in Stratford who insulted my pet on the first visit! Pond Point is physically very pleasing to the eye with a flower box outside and a homey waiting area. It is very clean with no unpleasant odors like the usual pet hospital.
Staff always greets me and my cats by name. The staff is courteous, efficient and accomodating. They always offer to carry my cats for me, as I have physical issues. Also, if one of my cats gets sick suddenly, they always manage to squeeze me in to see the vet. Prices are a bit high here, but I'm used to that coming from San Francisco. Also, the prices are in keeping with the area, and I feel I get quality veterinary care for my money. Dr. Julia Carter bought the practice from Dr. Paul Rumble who is currently working part-time. Dr. Carter practices state of the art veterinary medicine for small animals.
She also specializes in holistic and alternative therapy for animals when necessary. Whenever I take my cat in for a visit it is followed up with a phone call to check on my pet's progress. The practice also allows one to access medical records and email the doctor and staff with non-emergency items.

I notice that there are three type of Veterinarian offices that I have dealt with over our course of our animals: 1 - Sell more and sell as much as possible. You know these because you are constantly being sold more stuff and they usually forget your name or your pets name. Typically they present a lot of financial information at the most inappropriate times. 2 - Great with pets awful with people.
While your pet gets great service they have no clue how to talk with people. 3 - Which I have never come across to many of these type of office. Great with people, outstanding with pets and truly care. They know your name, they greet your dog. They say hi before telling you to "sign the sheet." They are always friendly and Point Point Animal Hospital goes even further. It is impeccably clean. It is wonderful to trust our two labs with the team at Pond Point Animal Hospital. They are even excited about going there.

We recently moved to Milford and our neighbors highly recommended PPAH (while warning us about other veterinarians in the area). We brought our 8 year old Lab (Jake) to Dr. Rumble and his staff and I have to say we were thoroughly impressed. The office is immaculately clean and the staff seems to genuinely care about YOUR pet. Dr. Rumble spent plenty of time performing his initial exam of Jake and making us feel comfortable with his knowledge and with our baby.
We just adopted a 4 year old yellow lab (Lucy) and PPAH showed us the same high level of service with her. We're very happy to have found Dr. Rumble, Lois, and the rest of the PPAH staff. Thanks!
