I would definitely recommend finding a different vet. The staff tend to act like pushy sales-people and the Dr. guilts you into spending way more than you should be. I have a 5 year old rescue and brought her to Shelton Vet Center for an initial wellness visit. The staff was very condescending from the get-go. Turns out my newly adopted dog had heartworms.
I was called late one night and was informed by the Dr. that she had tested positive. She proceeded to tell me there were about 3 months worth of treatments she would need. 1 month of antibiotics, then a $300 shot, then a month after 2 more $300 shots. I asked if there was any alterative treatment and she said no, you can get her the shots or she'll die.
Upon further research, I found that there were tons of alternative treatments, black walnut extract, wormwood, heavy dose ivermectin, etc. Against my better judgement and hoping that the Dr. was correct, I went ahead with the treatments. The Dr. then mis-prescribed the antibiotic dosage, and instead of a month of antibiotics, I was only given a week worth. Thankfully with the constant appointments they would guilt me into, this was caught 2 weeks later and the only consolation they gave was to comp my account for the $15 worth of antibiotics given initially.
Just imagine if the Dr. transposed the numbers and wound up given a fatal dose to someone's animal. The clinic now refuses to authorize her heart guard prescription through chewy without first coming in for another $200+ appointment. Be prepared to be guilted, financially robbed, and talked down to. Appointments usually have you waiting about 30-45 minutes after your scheduled time to even be seen, then another 30-60 minutes waiting in your car (pointless covid protocols), and then they won't bring back your animal until you've paid out your account. Terrible communication, terrible customer service, and shady business practices. I, and everyone else in America, expect cost transparency. Find somewhere better, trust me.

They have been wonderful. My pup didn't have to wait long before getting taken in for tests he's been there for several days in ICU. They call and keep us updated. Everyone I have dealt with has been very informative and shows so much care and encouragement for my pup. Very clean environment Carring staff

Doctor Kreiger is dynamite! My old vet in Newtown was unresponsive to my concerns during an emergency, so I took my dog to her first thing in the morning. She is so helpful and knowledgeable. She actually listened to my concerns and made some recommendations. I felt she was really thorough and knew her stuff well. She also was so nice! I did not feel like a number or rushed out the door. She followed up the next day to see how our dog was, which is a first! Now we take both dogs to her. Highly recommend Dr Kreiger.

Dr. Rafferty has been taking care of my animals for over 25 years - before she and her partner started Shelton Veterinary Center. She has always had my pets' best interest in mind and has always done whatever she could to make sure that my "babies" were healthy and well taken care of. Even when at the end of a long cancer illness with my greyhound, she was always available to me to ensure that my girl was as comfortable as possible, and at the end, she was a supportive friend and veterinarian.
The office is clean, and the staff is very professional and courteous, well trained and kind. I live 40 minutes away, and still make the drive. It is well worth it to take care of my furry family members! My boy, Remi, is now 15, and a few years past his expected life-span, and I attributed that to the wonderful care that Shelton Veterinary Center and I have given him. Thank you to the doctors and staff!

I absolutely wish there was an option for less stars. I brought my first cat here years ago as my parents brought all their animals to this clinic. When it was time to put her to sleep, the vet forgot to administer the sedation and I literally had to watch my animal choke to death in front of my eyes. It was terrifying. And against my better judgement I continued to stay with them as it was close to my home and convenient.
My next cat ten years later ended up very sick and dr rafferty diagnosed her with a thyroid disorder and when the medication made her violently ill, basically with no bedside manner told me this was my ONLY option and what was I going to do, just let her die? I googled the hell out of the medication and contacted them back and told them I researched that nausea and lack of interest in eating are side effects. Dr. Rafferty argued with me that's not the case, when the paperwork clearly stated it.
Clearly a lack of interest in actually knowing what you're prescribing as well as lack of compassion were a mix in this case. I finally left there and thank god I did because I found a vet who actually diagnosed her with cancer and provided a variety of different treatment options instead of just dismissing me. Your animals are your babies, take your babies ANYWHERE else but here.

Dr Rafferty has been the veterinarian for all of my Golden Retrievers over the last 20 years. She and her staff at Shelton Veterinary Center are dedicated, competent, compassionate and friendly. As a retired veterinarian myself, I know my dogs have always received the best care possible whenever they have visited the clinic.

I met with dr. Shawn Rafferty today for a checkup and shots for my 10 week old puppy after just moving to Connecticut. Her and her staff were incredible. She was attentive and explained everything in detail while making my puppy and myself feel at ease. After the visit I was able to tour the office and see how well they take care of the animals pre and post surgery and how much their facility can handle in cases of emergency. I had a great experience and will definitely be returning.

I have been going to Shelton Veterinary Center to bring my dogs for care for over 12 years. Dr. Krieger is warm, knowledgeable, and shows concern during every visit. She follows up to provide test results and takes time to thoroughly answer all of my questions. From our first visit, I have been impressed with the kindness and professionalism of all of her staff.
It is easy to schedule appointments and I always get a follow up call to check on how my dog is doing. I would recommend Dr. Krieger and Shelton Veterinary Center LLC to anyone looking for excellent care in a warm, highly professional environment.

Short read this is an incredible place to bring your pet. This place was recommended by my wife's friend who is a vet tech. The facility is beautiful with a doggie poo cleanup station outside with lots of land for a walk. Everyone here genuinely loves animals. The staff is amazing! We have a very "enthusiastic" olde English bulldog and Kaitlin is great at controlling her while being examined by Dr Kreiger. Leza at the front desk has infinite patience for her shenanigans. Look no further, this is the best vet in the area.

I have been to many veterinary practice's over the years and SVC is certainly one of the best. The facility is extremely clean and doesn't smell like many animal hospitals. The vets are caring and thorough and are up to date with the latest procedures. I have been very pleased with the staff and doctors and would recommend this practice to others who have pets.
