Vermont Large Animal Clinic - Philip Van Harreveld I am writing you to let you know that I am transitioning Vermont Large Animal Clinic to new ownership after 21 years. My family and I have made the decision to move closer to our extended family and to be near our kids who will hopefully be attending college in North Carolina. The core value of a business is created through the support of clients like yourselves, and so we have worked hard to ensure that the on-going business recognizes that customer support and patient care are embedded in the underlying culture.

My young horse arrived at VLAC at 1 AM in a critical state with double pleural pneumonia, an unexpected complication of a serious laceration she suffered a week before. She spent the next 6 days fighting for her life with the best team a horse could ever have. She had round-the-clock care, the benefit of consults with experts at Cornell, and vets who were willing to think out-of-the-box.

Throughout this ordeal, Drs. Phil, Abby, and Alex, as well as Vet Tech Sam, kept me up-to-date with her progress and care. They were honest, empathetic, and supportive. From day one it was very clear that the team at VLAC truly cared about both Catkin and me. Without VLAC's extraordinary care and the vets' belief that they could help my horse beat such serious illness, I would not be off to ride today

I have been the fortunate recipient of excellent care from Dr. Phil and all of his vets for 15 years. From the front desk to the ICU, I have experienced every facet of this practice at one time or another and have always been met with the same level of care and compassion no matter the circumstance. I recently moved to Ocala, Florida ( the horse capital of the world where there is a vet on every corner) and still refer back to Dr Phil to give me advice. Vermont and Upstate New York is so very lucky to have this wonderful world class facility in it's midst.

Top quality, current care with compassion and personal connection makes even the most difficult horse situation a little bit easier to manage when Dr. Phil and his team are involved. I trust them completely.

My 12 year old Trakehner Gelding has been with me for over 9 years now! For most of that time, he has been cared for by Dr. Phil and the other wonderful vets at VLAC, as he also did for my former horse, Max. I think it's been almost 20 years now! Ethan has needed the services of an excellent vet on more occasions and for more issues than any horse. his age should need, but not only has VLAC cared for him, but also and maybe most importantly, cared for me!

I have never felt uncomfortable with the care, or direction I received, and always have faith in the skills and knowledge that are brought to bear in caring for my horses. I moved away a couple of years ago.to New Hampshire. Of course, as.

As many of the local VT horse folks may know, I moved to NC just over a year ago. One of my biggest challenges has been finding a new vet I can completely trust. As the saying goes "you don't know what you have until it's gone". I have utilized 3 different vets down here and I am sad to say that none of them have met my expectations. VLAC sets. the bar very high in their skills, customer service and being up on the latest treatments and technologies. There are a few things I truly miss about VT, Dr. Phil and the VLAC staff are a couple of them.

I have never been there but all veterinarians do a beautiful amazing job. I have a single Binary genetic code within my DNA: its nothing really except that its Raptor. I have always wanted to come to a top accredited animal hospital when I need non-life threatening in hospital care. I have cardio Myopathy with a heart infraction rate of 35 to 40% which is up from 28 to 30% two years ago. I am a type two diabetic and would love to be cared for by loving caring veterinarians. Great place, very big stalls and very clean place. Love how every one there was very nice and talkative to yea about what's going on and they like to comfort you right at home in the waiting room as well. I took my daughter little mini whisky there in the spring of June 2017 when he was very sick and couldn't find out what was going on with him.he. was running high temps and shaking and not eating hay just grass, was put on iv bags for a week an meds.

His white blood cell count was deadly, my vet was saying I would possibly have to put him down. So we did everything at home to keep this little guy alive and staying with him through the night to eat grass. Today this little mini is still alive and very happy to be with us, he's so much better now thanks to my work staying up all night and the Milton horse Clinc and my vet, telling me what I should be doing at home. Would of let him stay at the Clinc but didn't have the money for him to stay there. We did just the same at home for him.

Dr Phil has cared for our horses for over 10 years, and saved the lives of 3. The practice, as a whole, is excellent and their focus on educating the client to make informed decisions is amazing. Vermont is lucky to have VLAC
